MARC Models 975025 "Caroline"
Robert Shrives replied to newbryford's topic in Kitbuilding & Scratchbuilding
Hi N gauge version done as a Shapeway moulding and Worsley Works has a 3mm etch available- which makes up well and using a Triang TT roof loos the part - albeit in bare brass and not yet finished, love the other woman in the pics above Thanks Robert -
Class 323 emu 4mm scale accurate drawings or etches
Robert Shrives replied to piranha230's topic in UK Prototype Questions
Hi Contact London Midland Public relations - they have biggest fleet or check with Electra Graphics -Adam does some lovely 2mm sides in vinyl, he might have drawings. alan at etched pixels does a lovely 2mm front end etch as well- worth a call hope this helps. Not sure where my GAs went - as a controller we got a good walk around when introduced all those years ago! Robert -
It looks like the No2 end boiler grill like the 4mm is a plug which should be good for moulding blanks! Chassis shallow detail a function of motor block for certain and I think the EP is too far down the line for much in way of change but as Bernard says it adds to the mix and will give us invetrate changers hours of fun/sweat/tears as we cut it about. Alan my thoughts re 24/1 was re filling off wings on headcode panels and putting body on chopped 24/0 chassis to get front valance- I wonder if a cut and shunt might be possible with the new offering and then make own beams for the 25/1 or 25/2 . Looks ideal for a 3D print project - perhpas Dr Simon blue with his exsisting drawings might oblige. - equally with corrected front end as he has done for 25/3 and variations. looking in the books on sulzers the big clips on side vent = dual braked conversion would be fun microstrip addition. hours of fun sorting far north fleet- all the players bar 40 and cross country dmu to hand! - or of course a BSO(T) cheers Robert
-
It is at least a better starting point and with the trusty file make for 24/1 and possibly a number of 24/1 with changed cabs at one end - 24133 springs to mind . I am sure if the solebar/underframe not reworked we will a be out chopping up to suit. - Who first for shoving a Dapol chassis under it to allow better tanks ! I have been pouring over Diesels in depth 24/25 book and strathwood look back at Sulzers and other recent books -plenty of info out there to aid design work and certainly to fuel the fires of modification! Robert
-
Hi gang check out Dapol website - launch pages - product development has a 33 page with a long list of models - looks very good. Just need a world where ScR models could run alongside SR diesels and EMUs! Robert
-
hi EPs at DEMU of 33 - 4 versions, two for pp version two normal differing in headlamp provision roof has inset for early/ late exhaust. Dapol website on development page has a listing expanding on catalogue ranges, sorry no pics but hopefully Dapol Dave will provide some shortly! Thanks Dave.
-
Hi great idea and I am sure with just a fewmore cad/ picture comparisons the niggling items you spotted will be sorted! Cant wait for these but will you be doing a real Waship ! (D600!!! ) go on you know you want to! Robert
-
Hi DVT was hinted by Dave a while back and 67 slated for production. i have a surplus Pretendolino DVT and transfers from Precision labels - plus for coaches as well so might make up a set anyway - this will ensure that the Dapol ones get to market! Mind you I can save transfers until Farish MK2 aircons land and repaint them as even less chance of those getting a WAG livery! Time will tell! Robert
-
Yipee ! good news at bottom of page - Arriva Mk3s for WAG train - announced just in time for train to be subject to withdrawal threats ! looks like a good steady production run so thanks for info Robert
-
Hi David and Dave , Thanks for correction re Colas ! If you have a quick trawl through Dapol subforum there is a thread about UK bodied class 56 locos where I had copied by entry re loco details so useful gen on there - some mine but quite a bit of good stuff from others - showing the great number of variations for Dapol Dave to be going at / avoiding. Amazing in just 135 how BREL managed to change the build and subsequent variations - who would be a manufacturer- er thanks Dave ! Robert
-
David et al, Liist copied over from Uk body thread Rails of sheffield have listed : 2D-004-005 56089 in EW&S ( D suffix also for DCC fitted for all four versions 2D-004-006 56070 BR blue 2D-004-007 56090 Large logo Blue 2D-004-008 56056 construction centre. 2D-004-009 56103 Colas - preprod model 56094 wrong handrails/headlamps In set NDiesel2 the DCC you get 56003 in almost preserved livery - should be oval buffers for main line running and handrails were split over a square headlamp - both ends eventually. Grills still nor Romainian square mesh so better suited to load haul batches 56031 - 55 but buffers still to change. - small details to change a lovely model as said and runs a treat No prices given just TBA . Hope this helps Robert
-
Hi Well a 56003 in Loadhaul graces the N Diesel2 DDC trainset and lovely it is too! Hopefully sales will blossom giving a dcc on board boost. The three telecscopic wagons are normal production ones but lovely all the same. Well worth the a look and I am sure traders will split sets in time. Cheltenham models have done so already and sold out. roll on the UK bodied ones.. Robert Shrives

HI order forms now circulated £84 for coaches if preordered and discount for ordering loco ,coachs and DBSO as a set - good price Railtec transfers now offer alternative number sets already. Robert

Farish BSK converted into a BSO
Robert Shrives replied to acg5324's topic in Modifying & Detailing RTR stock
Hi , Thanks for this - prompted me to follow suit but I have a BCK and BSK, looks like I can graft the middle parts of BSO into BCK so only two cuts - one join down the side of a window and the other mid way between two "smaller" windows in the van area. If this gets beyond the ponder stage I will post some pics here - if ok. Spare chassis to go under Caroline. Robert -
Old Elm Common (N gauge Hydraulic era layout)
Robert Shrives replied to DJM Dave's topic in Layout topics
Hi , looking good and like the idea hope you can make good progress Robert -
Hi , true but you can lose it ! T HST runs a treat and now you can get the clear coach bodyshells and the 23m type chassis for the motorised buffet car so possible to add more power if you need it. The body shell has a corridor connection moulded on end unlike the other clear shells. More bits and pieces of stock and buildings on Shapeways 3D printing site as well. Robert

Banbury in N scale - A great time at the Abingdon in March 2024
Robert Shrives replied to roundhouse's topic in Layout topics
Hi These tomix couplers available on 153/156 spares pages at Dapol as well , I have fitted 170 with one to run with 153 in London Midland livery, happily runs on 10" curves on Wareley club Broadwater junction layout. Love layout pics good but in the flesh even better. Robert Shrives -
Hi Ian Allan album for 1987 ( looking at two days ago and now not sure of year) has a lovely colour pick at Eastfield of DBSO repainted with blue grey mk3a behind - showing Intercity ScotRail legend on side of coaches - will have to check again but looks like they did run. Anybody futher with set numbers for consists. One set given in the Polmont Derailment report but this was a short lived set -sadly. Robert Shrives
-
Hi Ian Allan in Birmingham has 2 EPBs for £60 - 5 on bargain shelf this morning, had been six !! Robert Shrives
-
Cant wait for Dapol dave to get his MK 3 in Scotrail livery plus of course the CO variation. Loco plus 4 or 5 Mk 3s look very good and ofcourse that well known rule applied - just started a second DBSO conversion ! ho hum Robert
-
HI the HST middle vehicles landed today - lovely model. Just need a bit of a board and more track ! Robert
-
Hi Ben , I have already "butchered" some ROCO wagons into timber wagons by using OTA stanchion sides- left with 4 RRA runners! But would enable making a better match for a short COLAS train. Dave right about Parkside Dundas and bowed sides - I have had several kits in various gauges that are like that now I know why. I have found the type and softness of plastic varies. But that is part of the fun of modelling. Robert
-
Hi Ben , Good and quick work ! Will the stanchions be available separately - hope so anyway. (Got cold shoulder when asking about Osprey castings from chairman). . Nodoubt Bernard`s work will be top notch and a fine set of etchings for metalworks. Hopefully 10 will look good on Templedean with pair RFD 47s ( one dead in train to be correct !! ) - two were diagrammed to prevent line block and failure to deliver on time to Longbridge such was importance of contract to railway in the 90`s. Robert
-
Dave et al, What a good start - yes to all errors as pointed out , one to watch is the roof vent pics show openside but CAD shows cowl, watch out for nose upper hadrails - D400 not have these- only one of course! possible that first version CAD has wrong MU socket drawn most pics show cube shape. Really looking forward to seeing these models , I wonder if the "fantasy liveries" carried in preservation have followers? Load haul, TTG, and of course the RFD duplication seen at WSMR a whileago. or D400 with headlamp in tail lamp housing? I recall one loco being dual numbered and casuing a fracas is Wales when spotted by a fine JW! Keep up all the good work Dave Thanks Robert (CJM loco almost in my paws ! )
