Looks fantastic.

Hi Jon
Good news. If you search www.petertandy.co.uk - Class 33 there is a picture of 33118 plus a 4TC in NSE from 1990. It is 5th from the bottom.
On my phone so can't get it to link directly but you should find it fairly easily I hope.
Also on the page is a 33/1+4TC+5TCB Wool - Birmingham New St troop train from 1988.
Regards
Phil
Good news indeed! Many thanks Phil.

Yep you need a 102. I have a couple of them because it seemed so common
Not really. One is waiting on decision ... It was purchased to convert into a 33/0, that would be a silly thing to do now so I will probably renumber.
Griff
Let me know if it needs a new home.

Thanks. I may just end getting 33102 as it was a common one in NSE days. I've probably got too many already though as I have 101,103,108,114 and 118 already!

Very tempted by this in NSE.
Apologies for the terrible quality (scan of a print) but here is a 3TC in NSE at Southampton in either 1991 or 1992 (83301 was there on the same day with the red and blue 4TC).

That will be the resurrected 8001 that was reintroduced for the Kenny Belle. Perhaps it was on its way from Bournemouth to Clapham?
Still looking for a photo to see if a Dutch one was seen with an NSE TC.

Question: Did a Civil Engineers liveried 33 run with a NSE TC?
Looking at the Crompton page, it is suggested that 33103 was painted in CE August 1990.
8023 appears to have been withdrawn March 1990, but a few others soldiered on a bit longer. 8001 made it to July '91, 8015 to May of the same year. 8010 and 8017 were repainted blue during '91.
I can only find photos of blue 33's. Would be very interested to see if this happened.

I've been deliberating about this one all day. Yes it's not cheap but I can't miss out on one. I have sound fitted 33103 awaiting an NSE 4TC.

I guess this model has gone from being an exclusive model to just an ordinary one and people aren't going to pay a premium. Do we know how many of this batch were produced?
-
I think you've done a really good job with this. To me the kit looked pretty awful (in your first post) but the paint work has really enhanced the model. You must be pleased with the outcome.
-
Dale. Clever idea with the wiring. I think that is the best route to go down.
-
Will be interested to see whether the headcode box is done as the EPB or the Thumper/MLV. I imagine the latter.
-
NSE one for me too. I can see this selling out quickly so won't hang on for a potential reduction in price. Will probably get the blue/grey one too though will add NSE flashesd and renumber it to the 43xx series.
-
I think so and I have the bodies and EPB trailer chassis to do the same. However, there is the issue of getting the lighting to work correctly. Do share your work if you give it a try. We'd all like to see!

I think that the only two bsk mk 1's were 35454 and 35465.

73132 looks lovely. Perhaps you should be employed by Dapol!

First impressions to me:
The Hornby one looks too dark (the shade of brown).
The Hornby Pullman lettering looks better than the Dapol
We could do with the Lima one to compare with too!
-
- Also there is some degree of sentimentality on my part - that it would be nice to get them playing with the same layout I used as a child!
This is the most important reason to restore it. It's a good layout for the size so it would be fun for your kids to use.
I'm intrigued to know how the loop on the top level worked in terms of electrics. Were there a couple of dead sections?

The 4CAP looks fantastic. Superb paint job.

With all the talk of the Dapol 73's I thought I'd see if I could get a cheap Hornby one in GBRF livery. I bid on one at £50 with a limited description on the opening title. To my surprise I was the only bidder and won it. Now there was a little bonus, it was fitted with a Howes sound chip and express models lighting. This was included in the description but thought it too good to be true. Postie delivered it today and sure enough. Sound and lights fitted. Result.
I was watching it too. Forgot to bid on it and was surprised to see that it had gone for such a cheap price. Enjoy it!

(This is a genuine question and I am not trying to stir things up further)
I am thinking of purchasing Olivia's Trains 73207 in Gatwick Express livery in lieu of 73102. The upper bodyside colour again appears to be black on the model photographs. Is this correct for this livery or should it be dark grey?
A trawl of Flickr is inconclusive.

I'd like to suggest that it remained in Intercity dark grey. If you compare the jumper cables with the livery (1st photo) the cables look darker than the dark grey colour.

Just such a pity that Dapol not only couldn't be bothered with close-coupling mechanics, but have gone and moulded the NEM pocket into the bogie frame, not even on a pivot - the worst-case scenario, and there's no room there to fit any sort of close-coupling unit.
With the amount of problems I've had with my Hornby 50's, 56's and 60 pulling the first wagon/carriage off the track due to the coupling unit having a mind of its own, I'm pleased that Dapol have gone down that route.
