  1. Well having been on the shelf with the NSE one, I couldn't resist one that appeared on ebay as an unwanted present.  It does look nice but the crispness of the paint between the dark blue and white isn't as good as it could be.  I'd be interested to know if any others have this minor issue.

It may well join my Connex one but at the moment is DC only.  Here it is with the Connex one at the back:

Also it is interesting to see the difference in blues used on the NSE EPB.  An NSE HAP would involve the repainting of one of the coaches!

  2. That picture is a great find. I'm interested to know how many NSE examples ran as 2 car units. There are plenty of photos of Connex units. Shows how popular these units came towards the end of their use on the southern lines.

I am resisting the NSE one at the moment. I have the Connex one. They are nice visually though in reality are on a par with the much cheaper EPB. However, for me, what makes these units stand out is the sound option. They really make the unit come to life. Anyone thinking about getting a Thumper should seriously think about the sound version.

  3. My all blue version arrived yesterday and it is stunning. Runs well too. I am hesitating now to break it up and make a 2 HAP with half an EPB .........yep, that's why I bought it and that's what I'm going to do. The other two cars will be joined later and bashed to make a De-Icing unit. Saves me buying a SUB kit.

I would be interested to know whether the NSE livery (particularly the blue) matches the 2EPB special edition set. Part of me hopes it doesn't so that I can get any ideas like that out of my head!

With Kernow owning the rights to the Thumper tooling, could they produce the 2HAP?

  4. Apart from the livery and headlamp issue's, this 73 just doesn't look right to me. Think I'll be keeping hold of my old Lima versions (remotored) for some time !!!

Fully agree with this comment.  There's something not quite right about it.  I had plans to sell all my 73's and replace them with Dapol ones but I think I am going to have a good look at them before making a decision.

  5. Wimbledon and Richmond would be where S stock and 450's would meet. SWT used to use the Wimbledon - Putney section of the District line for ecs workings. Not sure whether that is still the case?

In terms of FGW, surely Paddington would be a good (if a little big) location. Perhaps Royal Oak?

    Edit: three minutes too slow!

  6. Whilst i'm looking forward to this model i'm slightly disappointed by the choice of numbers for the large logo (73105) and original Intercity (73102) models.

73105 ended up in Intercity livery fairly early on and 73102 was renumbered 73212 for Gatwick services. For me, a loco such as 73134 would have made have been a better choice as this carried I/C livery for far longer.  Here is a shot of a well weathered version of it last year!

(Yes I know I could renumber it - but would rather not!)

  7. I enter the hall of shame...

It's my listing, but not my conversion. I can't comment on the accuracy, but hey, at a starting price of 99p it can't be bad.

Maybe I should check accuracy before using the word "pro"...

I knew I'd end up in this thread someday !

Sorry, probably should have put it in another thread. Certainly not madness. Good luck with the sale.

  8. A quick conversion of one of my FO's.  Have modified a Lima Mark 2 FK interior so that it fits.  This will be renumbered 13563, one of the 2 Mk 2d's to find it self on the West of England route.  This one remained in Blue/Grey whilst the other (13575) found its way into NSE.

    Yes, it's a 2d and not a 2e but it's fine for me.

I have removed the running numbers - this was not easy compared to a Bachmann coach.

  9. They are but I am only really want a couple of rakes of air con mark 2's.  Whether they are d's, e's or f's, it makes no difference to me.

    Can't keep hoarding stuff either!
