I'm hyper-cautious so I'd test a small section before slapping paint on everywhere...
Also - I'd use an old toothbrush to get at the "growth"
and..
Masking the green and red where you can will make life a lot easier in the long run..

Birmingham NS to International at about 11am was very much the same.....leather clad bikers mainly....such a shame we no longer clash with the Clothes Show....just saying...
I went today by train from Bristol so did not arrive until just after 11am.
I enjoyed the show although I did not visit every layout or stand. I lasted about 3 hours!
I was happy to part with a few pounds to Squires, H&A, BRM and Petite Properties and bump into a few acquaintances plus chat to one or two manufacturers.
My personal "best in show" was the static diorama by demonstrators Paul Bambrick and Neil Podbery (who I was also pleased to meet "in the flesh" being an admirer of his 7mm weathering techniques - oils in particular). I am also very grateful for the unofficial guide published on here as it allowed a bit of pre-planning after a late decision to visit.
My rather mediocre phone photos are in an album here:
