  9. Hi all I am wanting to match the Hornby LBSCR colour, hopefully using humbrol paint. does anyone have any mixing suggestions to start with ? thanks Roger
  10. I have a 5 track traverser on a single line modular OO layout. The power to one rail of each of the storage lines is run through a reed switch. Under the exit track is a magnet which activates the aligned reed switch, so each of the storage lines is only powered when in line with the exit. To move the traverser deck a cable on the handle is pulled, this pulls back sprung sliding bolts at each end and a micro switch which cuts the power to the deck. The deck is moved, the cable released, the sliding bolts lock the track, the micro switches turn on the power and the reed switches only let the aligned track have power. I hope that’s helpful. Roger
  11. Hi On the tender there is also a screw behind the right hand buffer, which isn’t marked on that photo.... Roger
  12. Thanks, I’ll leave the tail lights alone then. Maybe brighten up the headcode lights as they are very dim. Rogrr
  13. Hi I have the BR green version of this model. Should both of the tail lights be lit at once for light engine working for the 1960 s or only one? And should there be a white marker light at the front ? thanks Roger
  14. hi all Christmas 1968, Triang New Zealand clockwork set. Back in its original box now. And recreated 50 years later. Roger
  15. Hi all my mogul arrived today, with the usual DHL & NZ customs delay. unfortunately it limps while going backwards and jams going forwards.... it almost looks like a split gear such as my hymek had. before I begin the painful task of returning it does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be wrong ? thanks Roger
  16. Hi all this is my Christmas 1968 set, NZC3, reassembled for its 50th, and another green clockwork loco. Roger
  17. Hi all I am building an O gauge kit of a Southern Railway 40 T ballast hopper and have a question about the hopper door controls. Does anyone know how the operating rod actually opened the doors ? The kit has a vague diagram with levers, a drawing in SR wagons has what looks like a bevel gear and I haven’t yet found any phots showing what was really there as it is a pretty dark area. any hints or do I go with something vague and assume no one will ever know ? thanks Roger
  18. That looks like one of mine, I’ve fitted them to Bulleid and Thompson coaches. the coupling unit needs recessing to clear the wheels. Works well but as you say not cheap. Roger
  19. Hi all I have 2 of the first batch of 33. One has a definite split gear, I’ve taken that out, and the other started a thumping noise today. Does anyone know if these gears can be saved or will they all split ? I wondered about taking the unsplit ones off the shaft and reaming out the hole a bit as I seem to remember the hole being too small was mentioned as being the cause of the split ? I am also after one of the coupling pivots and 2 couplings if anyone has any spare. Gaugemaster don’t have any. thanks Roger
  20. Thanks, gaugemaster have none, not sure if they’ll get any. i might try the Dapol ones, but would prefer the Heljan to fit to a class 33. Roger
  21. Hi I’m after two Heljan O gauge screw link couplers to replace lost ones. Reasonable price paid, but must be willing to post to New Zealand. thanks Roger
  22. Hi What sort of DCC socket is fitted ? thanks Roger
  23. Hi I see the new Hymek has Two red tail lights, the old version has one red and one white at each end. Which would be more common, one or two red lights at the end when running light ? Also was a white marker light usually used ? thanks Roger
  24. Hi all Has anyone any recommendations for a speaker for DCC ? The digitrains decoder arrived today along with the loco. I assume the socket marked cn6 is for the speaker ? thanks Roger
