  1. Just about finished moving in. To save unpacking I'm seriously thinking of making furniture out of boxes!

Had a frield who used a tea-chest as a dining table for about two years! A floor length table-cloth meant that you didn't know until you banged your knees!

Ha, and I bet you knew it too! Ditto with the strange mates, one of mine used wine bottle cases (loads of them!) to make a wall of box-shelves. Looked quite nice!

  2. Packing to move house on a hot day with gastric flu. The loo roll is the last item to go in the box

  3. 1. Laying awake until 3am thinking about your new loft layout. 2. After laying awake until 3am thinking about your new loft layout, realising that you haven't got any further since 9pm. 3. Admitting to yourself that you don't even have a loft yet so laying awake until 3am thinking about one is utterly futile. 4. Track pins.
  4. Just had a look at the 08 and he's sold it already. A couple days ago I thought I'd bought that for £120. I was wrong, he did...
  5. I know exactly what he paid, unfortunately. If he sells at the prices he's asking he'll be doing very well indeed!
  6. I've been robbed by Gostude! (OK, that's a very misleading statement, and not actually true in the strictest terms). I bid on a few O gauge San Cheng items at a Midlands auction recently and was delighted to see the prices had not even come close to my top end bids. Rubbing my hands with glee I called up to see what the delivery procedure was. They told me to wait for the invoice arriving on Friday. Meanwhile, checking on ebay new listings yesterday I noticed a few items that were the same as the ones I'd won. Chuckling to myself I thought "I'd got the same as those for less than HALF what he's offering them for!". Well, it's Monday so I called to see where the invoice was - I'm moving on Saturday so a delivery was urgent. "What bids?" they said, "we didn't get anything from you!". Their website has not registered my bids! AHHH! He was selling 'my' models! It turns out (they are confirming) that I had not waited for a pop-up message to appear after confirming my bids (I thought that was enough!), which automates the bidding process and sends a summary email. So probably my fault. I'm gutted, especially as I'd already earmarked them for my new loft layout.
  7. Really nice Pete, some very intricate work done exceptionally well. Threw me a bit with the £1 coin, was expecting a €1!
  8. What makes you think I already knew? I have no idea, nor do any of the members of my club, or anyone else I've asked. You do know it's O gauge? Not sure if I'm allowed to do this, but here's the listing: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271021164088?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1586.l2649#ht_500wt_1202
  9. Soopa. Want it! (as my son would say)
  10. You must learn from reactions to your listings and be realistic. For example, I had an N7 with a couple coaches listed a couple weeks ago. Plenty of watchers but no bidders. The week after I lowered the start price by a third, still plenty of watchers but no bidders. Now I have to decide what to do next - 99p start maybe. I have since discovered that I had misdescribed it quite badly (claiming that it was possibly a Connoisseur kit, when it wasn't) and that the coaches were possibly Slaters, when I now know they are Kirk's. Incidentally, which pre-80s kit manufacturer made an N7 in white metal? Steve That's a waste of a listings fee!
  11. This poor chap has had his O gauge models on ebay for weeks. They look well made but are clearly over-priced for them not to have had any bids. By the time he does sell them the cost in fees alone would easily negate any money he was planning to make in profit. His items
  12. I sold my Derby Lightweight and I want it back... :(

  13. It was a nice bit of history mainly, with a credit to his deceased colleague. It was very informative. If I've stepped on anyone's toes by stating the contents, even in a very vague way, please feel free to delete this post.
  14. I read it, there didn't seem to be anything worthy of an admin intervention within it...

Bill, not eBay, a real auction with people and comp tea! Pete, most definitely! Also picked up a 7mm 105 DMU by Bachmann. New word of the week: Skint! I may take up those offers gents!

  17. "Steve, come and help me with my new jigsaw!", cried Nan, "I't's got so many pieces, but it's meant to be a chicken". Sighing as I walked over, "Nan, sit back down and I'll clean up the cornflakes..."

There's only one team that's been able to show enough quality to win this, and it's from your country

  19. A 9 pints of cider hangover and a hot sunny day. Can somebody do me the favour of ending it now please?

  20. This sounds lovely Paul. Looking forward to the 02 version (hint!). Someone else has mentioned an interest in 02 sound on the 7mm section so there could be a queue forming... Cheers, Steve
  21. Very nice Pete, what a surprising lift it's been given! However, I'm in mourning for the balls... Steve
  22. Hello Paul, again thanks for the reply. I'm in no huge rush for this as I haven't built the layout yet, I've just started on the baseboard. I've got most of my stock, including the 02, currently DC. I'm happy to wait until you get around to doing it and I'm sure it will be worth the wait. I plan to have something up and running around autumn ready for winter, just so you've got some sort of a timescale. Consider me on your 'definite' list. I'm watching this thread so post any updates here or feel free to PM me with any new details. Best wishes, Steve
  23. Paul, thanks so much for that response. Give me a bit to think it over and I'll pm you later. Cheers, Steve.
  24. Lisa, I like reading your updates too, but the font you've chosen makes it really difficult to read. Looking forward to the next update!
