  1. Only if they are visible. If they are somewhere in the third world. Then anything goes 😥
  2. This turned up on my facebook feed. It was aparently a russian 'land train'. What really made me laugh was that it has a double cab, just think of reversing a train of double boogie wagons!
  3. Electric scooters are all the rage here in Denmark. They have to use cyclelanes, and the users now have to wear a cycle helmet. Quite a large number of them are used by commuters, as a means of transport for the 'last miule' from either public transport, or even by electric car users who do not hava a charger at home and use them to get to and from thier cars at public charge points. They take up a lot less space than bicycles on both public transport and car boots.
  4. I thought that religion was banned in this thread.
  5. To be precise, the thread will veer off topic in another direction.
  6. Another important factor is the size of your inverter. If you are using more power than it has the capacity to provide, it does not matter how much you have in the battery and/or are getting the solarpanels. Your will always be buying the extra Watts from the grid. This seems to an often-overlooked factor. When browsing forums, I see a lot of posts like ‘we have power in reserve, why are we still consuming electricity from the gird?’ This is especially the case when charging electric cars. This can be shown clearly here. We are charging a car, therfore using about 9.5kW. Our inverter can cope with 8.8Kw, så we are using 5.145 kW from the solar panels, 3.654 kW fronm the battery and buying the laste 0,758 kW from the grid.
  7. This must depend on two factors, the price you get for selling electricity, and the cost of extending batteries. I have 10 kW of batteries and have only been up and running since May, so it is too early to tell for me whether I should use more but I suspect the answer will be no. I have made an excel spreadsheet that I use to track all the (many) datapoints I can get from my system. Here in Denmark we have no price cap, and as soon as you are registered as a supplier of electricity, you can only choose to be billed for the variable hourly rate for consumption. This last week’s prices, including taxes, have swung between about 30p and £1.20 for a kW My selling price is the spot rate price, (which is set hourly). minus 1 penny. This in reality means that the cost of extending the battery has to be paid for by the saving of taxes on the extra energy I consume, rather than sell. So, for me it is not viable. Batteries normally need to be frost free. (Although our Huawai batteries can be outside). Ours are in a utility room, They and the invertor do actually generate a bit of heat. Which pleases the dog who sleeps up against them.
  8. I feel for you. We had the same experience. Solar panels during. Denmarks sunniest March and April EVER ( almost 500 hours) on their frames but not connected . we have since the 9th of May now generated 4.5 mW and sold 3.3 mW. As the price here is now over £1 per kW. They are probably going to pay for themselves quite a lot quicker than I expected.
  9. Now you really are tempting me, But did they ever run through Chard junction?
  10. Not to mention making it much harder for firemen to cut vehicles apart to save lives in serious crashes.
  11. This game of making puns out of Abba songs, does it have a name?
  12. I'va always wondered about the 20-80 % practice. With my (by modern standards) small 10Kw battery in a plugin hybrid.I charge from 0 til 100 % at least once a day , and more often than not, two to three times a day. I assume that the battery tech / management software is more or less the same. I would guess that I have done about 750 total charge from 0 til 100% and there is no sigen of losing capacity yet.
  13. If you have programmed Macros. Do they get deleted with a reset?
  14. Not true they have opened up for other cars to use their batteries. Not sure that any have yet, but the option is there.
  15. I think that public fast chargers should start draining the battery from cars that are left there more than a advised inteval after they are fully charged. People have to learn the hard way that they are being selfish. For the same reason I never charge my hybrid at public chargers unless I know that there will not be a queue behind me. This typically means only at the office, where I move the car when the app says it is full. About 90% of my charging is done at home, mainly from my own solar cells. I know that this is not possible for everyone. Charing infrastruktur is the man problem that needs to be overcome. I think that NIO has the right idea with their battery swap stations. I know that some EV owners are skeptical about the idea. And the main argument that they are not scalable is negated by the statistics. There are now over 900 stations in China, and as of last April, they have swapped 7.5 million batteries. The other great advantage of this system is that it solves one of the other major arguments against Ev of battery lifespan. You do not have to buy the battery, you can lease them, so a defective battery is not your problem. You can even have a smaller battery (75 kW) in normal use and swap it in under five minutes, for a 100 kW (soon 150 kW) battery if you are planning a long trip. I think this is a game changer. Nio are also opening up for other manufacturers to use their batteries, and charging network.
  16. Remember we have negative interest on money in accounts! But I must admit it surprised me as well. I believe the whole point was that by paying the whole price up front, that this would make it illegal for Hyundai to increase the price on delivery. But they just 'cancelled' it instead. He is not alone in being treated like this. I hope Google translate can help with this page: https://bilmagasinet.dk/magasinet/spoerg-bil-magasinet/laeser-spoerger-maa-forhandleren-bare-aflyse-min-nye-bil
  17. I can tell you what Hyundai have done in Denmark. A friend ordered and paid in full for an ionic 5 last October 2021. About a month ago, he received a letter saying that his order was cancelled. But If he was quick, and paid another £5000, he could keep his place in the queue (at that point in time with an unknown delivery date)
  18. Fewer pedants... to match a quantifiable number on each side of the comparison.
