  1. There are a few items I am amazed Hornby haven't produced. After tooling up a brand new schools class they have never produced an olive version with smoke detectors. Dover in the railroad range has been the only version. Crazy. A golden arrow train pack with either a class 71 or original merchant navy. Both flagship models and a set they like to remake. Although this has coincided with the disappearance of Pullman's in general. I'm convinced it's so they can change the colours to match the TT:120 models and not clash with older stock on shelves. An olive green Adams radial. Mind boggling. I do not accept it's a duplicate thing with Oxford as they have matched every other livery and produce the matching coaches. They do olive green so we'll and I'm sure it's one of the more popular liveries. And going back to the schools class, having introduced a lord nelson into the range it's very odd that they wouldn't capitalise on it and release a schools class with a nelson tender. Different enough that if you already had a schools people would buy it.
  2. I would definitely buy the rail traction engine, I was looking for a kit the other week. And if someone made Marcia from the K&ESR I would certainly but one. But I doubt it could be done... (Slaps rapido with a glove)
  3. Is there any particular goods train for the malachite version? Mixed goods? Van train? All duties? What coaches would be suitable, Olive Maunsells?
  4. I thought the whole point of last year was a consolidation and catch-up year?
  5. DCC concepts used to make some lovely little lamps in 4mm scale so it's definitely possible. To be honest the revamped merchant navy model was the perfect opportunity to add electric lighting without having to mess about tooling extra lamps. Just a bit of fibre optic.
  6. A birdcage long set would compliment the wagons and O1 nicely. One can dream...
  7. Honest question. Don't you GWR guys get bored of 4-6-0's? From a visual standpoint. As a southern modeller I have all sorts available. I'd be crying out for an Aberdare or something a bit more distinctive. Jokes about all GWR locos looking the same aside...
  8. Plenty in all liveries really. Most options for BR blue if you want all electric. But even the earliest can be run alongside the 5BEL, 2BIL, 2HAL and a wide range of steam options.
  9. Hopefully they come with 4 white disks. Then If you buy a couple of locomotives you can spread them around a bit. I currently use roxey disks. Bachmann, Dapol and rapido all have them tooled up. But you can never seem to get hold of enough to standardise on one type.
  10. Oh, I trust the EFE research! It was just an interesting detail observation.
  11. Wonderful. Can I ask about the southern electric flash on the malachite model. That's a nice embellishment not on the EFE model. Is this a later addition or personal touch? Either way it's very nice.
  12. Daaaaamn! You went all in with the southern liveries! That's going to cost me, oof. Star of the show for me in number 7, oh and 65. How many disks are included with each locomotive please? Might these become available as an accessory?
  13. Hello. My friend has tasked me with fitting a train tech level crossing. As per the instructions it can be wired to a sensor or an on off switch. My friend tells me the sensor is not cheap. I have fitted a push to make switch on his panel that controls the barrier lights but obviously you have to hold it down. I'm after a cheap little do-dad that will sit between the push to make and power supply so that when pushed it will run the circuit for a few seconds and turn off again. Something based around a 555 timer perhaps? It's been a while... And I don't know what is available these days. Any help would be wizard.
  14. What has really surprised me is how desirable the blue one is. I thought that would be left on the shelf but it's actually a top pick!
  15. Malachite green booster for me! Something very pretty that can be used on a goods train. I bet that would look great in a station with a Hornby merchant navy. 1942... What would appropriate coaches be? Olive maunsell coaches?
  16. Right, final prediction. Efe release of the kernow 1361 or Heljan equivalent.
  17. In terms relivery I wonder if an SECR grey C or N class would be due. It's been long enough to not clash with the limited editions and there is a wonderful range or late wagons, not to mention their own dancehall.
  18. Hmmm, lswr full brake is sold out on pre order. Does that mean no shop stock or stand by in case someone cancels?
  19. Imagine being annoyed more people were buying model trains. One minute it's we need to attract more people and the next it's don't make more of XYZ. Ask yourself are you collecting because YOU want one or because someone else might want one later... That's not a collector that's an investor. And investments are always a gamble. I was happy when another run of 21c1 Channel Packet was announced. Having bought one first time around was I annoyed that it was suddenly devalued? No! I remembered one to 21c2 Union Castle.
  20. I'm having a go at building a SEF D1 tank engine. I'm assuming I haven't got all the instructions as there is nothing for the white metal parts. Has anyone got a copy of the instructions they could scan for me please? I'm assuming there is an exploded diagram for the body and that's the sheet I need.
  21. The Pullman colours look a lot better in TT. I wonder if that's why we haven't seen any in 00 for a few years? I always assumed they were frightened of the price a new run would cost. Now I think they are waiting for all the old stock to sell through so they can put some new cars in a better colour and not worry about clashing colours.
  22. Same here, I would have chosen Derails for their customer service. Perhaps a box that said "other, please give details" You announce that T3 and we will talk 😆
  23. I would love to see a LBSCR Baltic tank. Pre grouping to southern liveries. A never before rtr wheel arrangement. A reusable chassis for a rebuilt tender engine. Plenty of other rtr LBSCR models to compliment and encourage sales. Different enough for some Rule 1 purchases.
  24. Oh ... I feel the to-do pile has suddenly got bigger... Nice one :)
