      Yes, scary - I heard one go right over the roof once, with a really good Doppler effect. The tree 200 yards away got it, and afterwards, all the bark was lying on the ground around it in a circle. That's why you don't stand near trees in a storm!

    Right now, 50 years ago, the last ever passenger service is leaving Southport before the closure of the old South Coast Line that ran to the Gold Coast. This year also marks 125 years since the line first opened, on January 25, 1889.
