  1. It's not that easy to move the return crank I'm worried about it lol just trying to fit the rocker now then fine ajustment then the other side can be done
  2. I want to say thanks to everyone who has helped me do this loco from the people on here giving advice and help and a big thanks has to go to my partner Lisa if wasn't for her I would not have the kit So thanks to everyone

That is really good I have always liked this loco I saw it at elr triple heading with another two I saw it and I wanted a model of it but with no avail So now after about ten years I am going to make one. I did think of building a kit from the old Alan Gibbson kit but thought that the Hornby one would be ok for this and also a bit easy like horsetan says less rods and setting the loco up Here is another pic of the unfinished side still need to put the bracket on and tidy up bits

  5. Hi Pete that has helped a lot I have done the first part and just doing the second part then fit them to the Hornby black 5 I will put more pics as they are
  6. First stage done and to prove it moves I have taken two shots in different positions
  7. Well here are the pics before I do anything the kit and the loco it's going to go on I have decided to use a standard black 5. the one with Gibbson wheels i am not using this one has the Hornby wheels more pics will follow soon
  8. Thanks both of you I have got a few picks of the motion I will be starting it on wed night when I am at work ( the joys of a signaller ) lol. I Will have to be taking my time with this build I don't fancy getting another kit but I will try and get it right The kit is bills he is the only one to do it
  9. Looking good there Jason the cassettes method is a good one I have used them on bamar and now on bucks lane. I have made mine so I can stack them up with the locos already to use it helps with the space But as I say looking good
  10. Well I have got the motion today thanks to my good lady (she's a gem ) I am going to use the front top feed black 5 a rtr one with Gibson wheels I got years ago Looking at the kit I have found no instructions for how to assemble it dose anyone out there have the instructions.

I will be using a Hornby black 5 what has Gibbson wheels on I was thinking of using the comet fame kit but funds are a bit tight at present so one of my Hornby ones will do I will wait until the motion kit comes to start my little project then the fun will begin Pics will be on when I start it so apologies for the wait Mark
  12. Happy new year it's been a while. My lush lady has got me the motion for this conversion now where is that black 5 so I can start on this project Pics will come when I start it
  13. When I have sorted the track problem then the boring bit of ballasting it

Some more pics to show I the track weathered but noticed when trying the wagons over some points they were jumping over not good so looked into it and found that there was a big gap between the frog and the shoulder so I have to sort them out. Having to unsolder the three sleepers from frog to the shoulder where the check rail is and close the gap then replace the sleepers. Hopefully I should get them done soon

  20. I have built a few bellpaire ones they are a good kit to do. The round top kit dose have the bellpaire bulkhead in would it be hard to make your own bellpaire
  21. I decided to use colbolt point motors and the outcome is is good they are a nice unit good to set up and I have used push buttons to set routes next wil be the ballasting and platforms. I still need to fine ajust some points but all is good on bucks lane I am taking my time on this layout not like the others I had
  22. Have you thought about the ratio dollies they can be nice I have a few for the new layout
  23. Forgot to say as long as they are not straight up then they are ok but as I say it looks good
  24. Hi Jason the signal is coming along great As for the ladder angel it don't matter at horrocksford ( in clitheroe ) the signal from the cement siding ( hj 4 ) was steeper than the signal on the main line ( hj 2 ) both were semaphore signals
