  1. I use a spray gun they are ok. I cant spray with a can its to big I cant get control of it but with a gun I can Also I wash the loco in hot soapy water to remove all the flux that can cause a lot of problems as I have found out in the past mark
  2. Hi Jason I have done a round top 2-4-2 one and I like them but I found i have to read the instuctions a few times to get my head around it. Did you paint the class 27 mark

I have had the Hornby 8f's pull 40 wagons with ease the black 5's can only manage about 7 Bachmann mk1's The most i got with the Bachmann mogul's are about 5 mk1's and the Hornby brits the most they can cope with is 12 mk1's I have not added weight in any loco they are as they are when they come out of the box. The track I use is code 75 I have been happy with how they run mark

  6. I use acrilic lifecote paint gose stright in the spray gun easy to work with and all my repaints are done with this with holfords primer on first mark

  9. Jason how did you remove the platic under the boiler on your black 5 it looks good
  10. just to let people know that bucks lane had been put away for other projects but i will be carrying on with the layout slowly The ballasting has been done now and weathered all points are motorised and all track feeds are in place. I will be putting pics up in the next few days and i hope i can work on it soon (if the weather permits )

  16. Jason the motion was a bit fiddly to do but I had magnifying goggles on my lom thought I was mad lol. It took 3 night shifts to do and 2 day shifts ( joys of being a signaller) if you look for 44767 it will bring you on to it I don't know how to put a link up for it sorry buddy I also use Gibbson wheels they look a lot tidier then the Hornby ones and brass master detaling kit as coachman model shows they look stunning
  17. I forgot to say I like how them black 5s are weathered very good You need to build one with the Stevenson valve gear on it

  20. Hi David I will be using a spair djh coprotti valve gear for the mod and scratch built other parts needed. Crownline use to do a conversion but they are hard to find now.
  21. Just an update 44767 has been on test and the motion has lasted so now its time to modifiy another black 5 YES another one The loco what will be a coprotti high running no 44686 coverting Hornby black 5 into it. I will be taking pics when i start it
  22. Hi Jason great shots i was watching that DVD of the cab ride to bacup and you have captured bacup I have also shortened the draw bars on most of mine and they can negotiate 36 radius curves Mark
