  1. Hi Mick, downspouts looking good and the handrails are a superb bit of modelling, cheers Peter
  2. Hi James, I know what you mean and as you say if viewed from a resonable distance its not too bad, the only other alternative is to scribe the plastic ala Geoff Kent style, which i had to do with Berwick but in 7mm scale. If that be the case then the best method is to scribe the majority of the walls in the flat befor fixing together then sribing in the corners once it is put together, which works a treat with carefull planing. It may be worth baring in mind that the darker the mortar the narrower the gaps become when viewed, :-) cheers Peter
  3. Its all looking good C K, the cottages come up really well. I think (as you may have discovered) that uniformity is important with the buildings, I recall the late Chriss Mathewman's layout Striven. All the buildings were of card and brickpaper but looked superb because of the uniformity, no conflicting contrasts if you know what I mean. cheers peter
  4. Hi Mick, I don't think I will be doin too many buildings with hand laid bricks, I know Pendon do it this way but it doesn't matter too much if it takes 100's of hours but for me time is the issue, signals are top Mick. cheers Peter Dunster box GWR 4mm
  5. Mick, English garden wall bond, that's why I had to lay bricks individually on the Waterhouse box to get the right pattern for the Smith and Yardly LYR box on the Shaw Bridge photo cheers Peter

  8. Hi Jon, Have no idea, the pictures I have are not to great as they show the box at distance but took for granted they would be standard LYR type from start to finish? Here is a close up of one of my first Exhibition layout Shawbridge, the box is was constructed using the picture and drawing from the LYR platform magazine Waterhouse cabin. 4mm the brickwork on this box was individually laid on to represent the correct pattern. cheers Peter

  15. Hi Dave, I stand corrected re Chinley box :-) eggesford box, that is a very nice box indeed and constructed 20 years ago, thanks for posting, the St Mary's box interior is pretty much guess work but had some idea of the arrangement, I have constructed quite a few St Mary boxes, mostly in 7mm. I make most of my windows by fixing microstrip directly to clear plastic with Mek-Pak by means of a mek brush. cheers Peter

  19. Hi Tim easter, The slates are high quality computer paper, the measurements were formed on the computer by neans of creating a grid section to an estimation of what the slate sizes may be, Once printed out they are cut into strips with a sharp scalpel then with a blunt scalpel they are niked right through individulally 3/4 way up to form definition, When painting they are dry-brushed so as not to fill the gaps with neat paint. Vulcan Bomber, The etch work on the footbridge tower is from Scale-Link, its not an absolute likeness but its very close and to find a close up of the ironwork in the real could take a lifetime :-) MickLNER, The end boards or valancing on the GNR box were etches that came from Mick Nicholson allthough he doesn't recall sending them to me. cheers Peter
