  1. Hi Mike, Sorry for my late response, I had a problem with my password which is now sorted out. The box looks great and works well with the two kits to create the prototype in the picture. thanks for posting. Peter A L.
  2. Hi Good people, Yes the overall roofs will again ntake it a step further to completion, there is still some on sight work to do first to ensure the roof fits like a glove bering in mind the roof is split into 3 sections, North,South and the overtrack walkway which splices the two roof sections. On one of the shots that Gilbert has took he has made a mock up of a pillar or support that takes the roof slightly beyond the island platform building to bring it in line with the opposit side. On the opposite end of the roadside building ther is a small section of walling that has to go in which will take the end of the overall roof, from a modellers point of view this is very tricky indeed to get right making sure all fits well, i worked this out whilst working on the main buildings. My next visit will be to fit the extending walling section + the arcade wall, again this could not be done of sight as the inner wall section falls down to ballast level were the opposite side sits on top of the platform, all this is very risky indeed to model of sight in my experience, from mistakes made in the past. There is still some work to do on the island platform building, canopy detailing and the painting finishing off, which is very noticeable on the canopy detailing pic, and not forgetting signage etc. The station buildings at peterborough are all part of the scenery to state the obvious and as such have to be bedded in so to speak, for it to work right it has to be taylor made into the layout as opposed to just plonking the buildings on top of platforms which maks for untidy modelling. again many thanks for your apreciation of the model Peter
  3. Re Merthyr box, Hi Ian, that's very interesting indeed, I am not by any stretch of imagination an expert on this type of Box. It was constructed as part of a stage by stage demonstration model for the book I am writing on Architectural modelling, with regard to the door under the porch I had no knowledge of, the model was constructed making use of a drawing in MRJ No4. if the door was under the porch could it be that the ground was lower at that point and steps leading down to it? cheers Peter
  4. Hi there, I propose to re introduce the Signal box thread that I started on the old RMweb which was a popular topic with many photographs. I woulld like to encorage others to post there models but do let us know what the model is. I will get us going with a few photos. Peterborough North box 4mm Breckon & Merthyr under construction 7mm .
  5. Hi tim, I will help as best i can as time allows of course. with regard to the adtual construction methods I try to stay away from laminating were possible with regard to stregnthening the structure. My wall or main sections are formed as a shell of 40thou plastic sheet, inner and outer and framed on the inside around the outer edges and centres at apropriate intervals for a robust structture, thats the bones of it. with regard to laminations i only apply as to build up relief were needs be for depth as prototype pattern but nevee for stregnth. I hpe that gives some clues. here are some construction photos to give some insight to the constructin methods incorporated. cheers Peter
  6. Hi, I have a few more photos of the Peterborough box you ay like to see.
  7. Hi Folks, Many many thanks for the kind comments received its very encourageing, I must say tho that there is still some of the finer details to be added to the buildings, especially the canopy detiling on the island platform 6 and more painting required to cut it in sharply. ther is also the arcade walling adjacent to the end of island platform 6 not to mention the weathering to tone it all down. the photos look very however on one of the shots it looks like one of the stacks on the end of the building looks bent but it isn't they are all straight as is the whole building, that said i know that Gilbert has just took a few shots quicky just to show you the progress, I am shure he will take more photos, cheers Gilbert. The idea was to have ago at the platforms today and to give the buildings to Gilbert to enjoy whilst the rest of the work carries on as opposed to them sitting on my workbench, i'm so pleased you like them Gilbert, by the way I arrived home at 11pm tonight took the wrong turning and ended up in Birmingham :-) only i could do that. cheers peter A L
  8. hi Perspex sheet works great for stagnent water on a canal as used in the past at Pendon.
  9. The box is coming on a treat, it6s amazing how much progress you can make when you get stuck in :-) those signal boxes look top, nice paint jobs, will have to start a new signal box thread like we had on the old forum.
  10. Just on my lunch, or should i say having a butty, what fantastic photo shots of both Peterborough & little bytham, not so far off now and Gilbert will be able to photograph some building progress in the guise of Main station buildings and Island platform building, I must emphasise there will still be the finer details to be addeed, station sgns, platform colums and the like all exciting stuff, see you soon. Peter
  11. Gilbert, So, so glad you are okay both Ann and I were thinking of you on thursday and glad to here you are on the mend. peter/Ann

  13. Hi All, Yet mmore attempts to load up photos, to top it I have lost my compplete constructional set of photos as my card is no longer recognised by my computer it says can't recognise thedirectory and have since found out that all my photos are deleted i'm absolutly furious all that work taking photos for sweet nothing.:-( Good news is I managed too save a couple to the hard drive at a point when i was saving to the computer before being distracted :-) Station masters house. A closer view showing before paintwork cleaned up. the model looks bent but i can assure it is perfectly straight, no wide angle lense more to follow including some lovely island platform side canopy brackets etched by our own Pete Harvey PHD models. now to the dentist :-( cheers Peter
  14. Hi all, Peterborough buildings photos will be forthcoming very shortly :-) cheers Peter
  15. Hi Mike, I agree it is just superb, a luxury to have and to be able to run the railway like the prototype And even more so when the station buildings get plummed in, not to mention the other buildings, carriage shed, cresent bridge and more :-) Peter
  16. For me the efforts of Rice & Barlow East Suffolk Light(Snape maltings). Inkerman street, Bevley's, Rassbottam Brow LYR end to end, so many more to mention. Pete

  18. David (B cheessplant), May I congratulate you on some excellent scribed brickwork some of the best I have seen, not allways easy to get right, i like the closures at the corners and window apertures, careful attention to brick pattern detail is that, well done. cheers Peter
