Some nicknacks arrived the other day and have been painted and added the shed needs to be taken apart to remove the grit which as gotten in well some track work as been done but needs to dry before I can take it apart. I’m not happy with the roof. The paper when dried as warped the roof. So either I need to order some thicker plastic and try again…. Or just order some tiled embossed plastic and be done.

Trying some printable tiles out one the roof. The colour is supposed to be old slates with moss. But when printed out it comes out quite purple. However once the PVA starts to Soak is it dose go a nice green. The right side of the roof had just been done when photographed. But the green as started to come trough on that side too. So I I’m quite pleased with the results so far.

As the shed is a little closer to being finished here’s a image from the front.

The smoke troughs have been installed and the roof cut to fit round the chimney’s. Need to fit a small tube at the back left corner to allow the wires to be guided down through the base.

I’ve cut the main roof out and is just resting on to at the moment. The reverse side is painted grey to cut down light bleed and to give the impression of a slate roof looking inside. The out side will have rows paper slate glue on with plastic ridge tile. Still need to do the second smoke trough. Then I’ll bed it all in. Doors and nicknacks inside. Oh the gutter need to go on to which will blend the the roof to the building as can be seen from the images there’s gaps which won’t be there when that’s done.

Well I’ve done a little more work, lights are fitted and just need wiring up into a circuit. I’ve also had a lovely delivery from the L&YR society and have some reading to do this is the welcoming pack plus back issues of the year. A couple with lights fitted and working.

Well the snows coming down out side. Luckily the builders have been busy the roofing is moving on at a pace. All the beams for the main roof are done and painted in white. I don’t know how Authentic it is but the images found one the net show white and it can always be weathered. Templates for the roof are cut well 3 anyway. The other side will be done but will try to make it detachable. I wondering wither to use plastic slates form southeastern or to use plane plastcard and glue paper slates on. In pre cut rows obviously I’m not that mad. Also what would be found in a shed? I’m thinking workbenches and some tools. Would electric tools such as piller drill etc. and would oil drums be inside and would they have had a oil drum rack.

More painting done the main building is about finished but will weathering and I have ordered some cement weathering powder so we’ll give that ago to see if it looks any better. Waiting for some square tube for the smoke troughs though one is particularly built and can be seen. Some of the roof timbers are built though none are finished, I think they are showing promise

A little work done, some paint as been thrown about ok I dropped some which was fun to clean up. Windows to do along with the corner stones and odds and ends. Over the weekend the smoke troughs hopefully will be built.

The main building is about done. There’s a little bit of rubbing down it filler here and there but not much. The smoke troughs next. The colour of the brick work is a problem from a black and white image. I did wonder if it was yellow brick work. But look at other images I think we will say red. Need to pick up some spray undercoat for it tomorrow. found a brick paper which I think looks about right and will try to reproduce it with paints.

Well a lot of work done today, the inside brick work as been fitted along with two extra layers to bring the bricks level with the back of the window. The arch brick work above the windows and windowsills both inside and out side done. Along with the walls glued together. my book turned up today very fast dispatch from the L&YR society. Next todo, the corner stones hinge mountings.

Manage to order some more plastic card ok lots of plastic card. Joined the Y&LR society which will help and ordered a new book from them which will be a interesting read. The windows have turned up and are much better then I could have done myself. The windowsills still need to be added. I think it’s going in the right direction apart from the printer no talking to the Mac which will be dealt with tonight.

No, I Mean the class 7 4-4-2, I did say it was unlikely to see the light and the Class 27 is a 0-6-0 image from Printerest (Howard Williams)

If Accurascale want a 0-6-0 Frieght engine in their range how about a L & RY class 27. Over 400 made, lasted into BR. I would have said the class 7 but I have my doubts on that ever seeing the light

I've been playing around with ideas for the smoke trough and this is what I've come up with any ideas or suggestions if it looks want to you be very handy. the drawing is to scale and my plan is to print out the trough and use it as a tenplate. the hight of both the chimneys themselves and the roof is rough and need adjusting

The shed as been resized which wasn’t too far out in the end. And the track is glued in place with the floor also cut with enough room to allow rolling stock to run freely. Really need the windows to do much else. For now

Oh that’s a useful tool I’ll have to have a play with that in the future thank you. I manage to get the extension bang on with the depth though width was way out. And have adjusted to overall shed thank you

Hopefully the windows will arrive next week as I was sent a file to check. I did look at ready to buy ones but they didn’t have the correct window pains. Any way the shed as a base to build it on. And the front and back as been cut out. Some one give me the sheds dimensions as 104’ x 30’ . However the front didn’t work at 30’ so ended up counting bricks…at least it’s not rivets. The back of the shed as a building stores possible a office and no images available so have used other sheds as a guide it won’t be glued to the shed incase a image turns up on day. The thing is hold together with blacktack to help plan where to stick the track onto the base two inside and the west side will be fitted.

It’s news to me, but your probably right I don’t know the class that well and would need to check what the differences are between the two classes.

Go on then when did Bachmann do a DMU class 107 in OO. Or has a cat been let out taken from the website

We’ll work on the engine shed as started the side walls are made from up to 5 layers and have kept me out of mischief for some hours. I don’t know if I’ve made life hard for myself by not cutting the windows out yet. But it’s only two layers, but in my defence I don’t have the windows yet though they have been paid for and will arrive at some time. Need a single row of bricks at the top and bottom of the window walls, sorry don’t know the technical nemes. The front and back tomorrow hopefully which. The ends of the wall are not yet finished as the are stone corner blocks and I think they be better to reproduce when the building ends are made so everything lines up. Maybe not much done but I can claim I have started.

Oh thanks for that, that is a excellent image for reference and as helped a lot in understanding the layout of the station. And thank you for your suggestion I will be snooping around on that.

Well after some months of looking though Books trying to find ideas I think I have finally found a station I am happy with for my new model. Chorley is located on the Bolten & Preston Railway. later to be run jointly run by LNWR/LYR. the station is site on the line running north of Bolton and Wigon to Preston with branch lines running to Blackburn. Facilities included goods, /parcels Live stock including horse (along a small 2 road engine shed and a 45ft turntable up until 1923~) the layout boards are the same as the soon to be defunct Rothley so 10 x 18 2' wide all the way round. one side the main layout side will need to be widened to 4' the image below shows Chorley track plan with the Yellow rectangle being the size of the main layout you will note some of the west side sidings will have to be left out from the model but should still give a good representation of Chorley. jobs to do new boards and track to be bought before building can be carried out, as winter is here the main build will have to wait both due to a lack of boards an track and b its ruddy cold in the loft this time of year. so building of station structures will be started and occasional rolling stock. the first being the engine shed this will be scratch built (along with all other buildings) though the windows have been ordered from a laser cutting Company a to save swearing and to see how good they look.
