  1. Still no sign of the wheels. So Re did the roof, which I think is much better. Managed to do the destination head bored and the little signs done the sides. Fitted some working lamps just need to see how to wire them up to a dcc decoder which will be fun. Other than that I redid the Fowler tank now on the newer Hornby chassis which improves the look of the model. The dirt on the top seems more noticeable in the image then it is in real life. Cameras are strange things.
  2. Still waiting for the wheels and got a little bored so I thought I’d try a little painting I think the cream is a little too yellow especially in the image. Might be the lighting what is making it worse. I’ll have a look for another cream tomorrow when out and about. now looking at the images on the screen it is far to yellow for my liking. But the model isn’t too bad. The wheels are a bit crude and some separate bought wheels might be in order depending how much space is available to fix them securely when the thing is on the rail chassis. Have to wait and see.
  3. Well I don’t know if I have signed up. Did everything Press the button and nothing! Tried again and it said email is already used so I’m guessing something has happened.
  4. I was thinking of using 1/8 internal tube for the wheels and just being lazy about the chassis using the flat plate show above. But I got a thinking about the possibility of the tube not being square and how to fit the motor etc. so I decided not to mess about and build a parallel frame chassis saves on the thinking and makes things easier in the long run.
  5. Well after the great excitement of Hornby’s announcement today still no L&YR 0-6-0 I thought I’d look at the L&YR coach. It went well I built a motor and cut some metal for a rail bus. Still trying to work out how I can fit everything including a DCC decoder and some representation of the interior. Well adding weight to help with the running image of the real thing added.
  6. Oh yes finally something I’ll be ordering a few of from Rapido.
  7. Hornby’s just spent millions on preparing to bring TT120 to market. There’s no way you can expect a company to repeat that type of announcement in such a short time. I was expecting a loco possible new but probably just in a new a paint job. before switching to pre-war LMS I would have been over the moon with a big blue Princess Coronation class. I’m sure some people will be happy. That’s a big ✔️ On the plus side on other sites people have been rising questions about a model especially for collectors club. That’s a big ✔️ Hornby hasn’t announced a all new class 50 which is a Big ✔️ Not to mention this hasn’t fallen into ‘ Hornby the bad guy’ category but we can’t please everyone all the time. Big ❎ 3 out of four isn’t bad is it.
  8. Well they haven’t released a terrier for a fortnight.

And what’s up with code 75. I don’t mind detail and have happily burnt many a finger trying to add a little more detail a bit batter. But if the company feels a flangeless wheel set is the way to go. I can only guess that they feel it’s the best way forward to make the model user friendly for those with toy like curves. I could probably live with that or I could do some butchery if I can’t it’s just another little project to add to the many. I do like the idea of a extra set of wheels with the model that would seem the best way forward. sorry I don’t recall who mentioned it first.

I can’t because I am, A. not that skilled nor have I ever stated I was. and B, happy to live with the Compromise of what OO is. But if you want all flanged wheels with larger curved track then Why not branch out into TT120. Or take up P4 yourself. To want a company to produce a model that more then half its customers wouldn’t be able to use is frankly ridiculous. The company wants sales of its product. It’s down to the modeller to enhance the model to their own high standards if the model doesn’t score a perfect ten in their eyes. Especially if such standards would affect sales.

What’s the point of getting in a tiss over flangeless wheels? It’s OO! It’s not to scale!
  12. Sorry not posted for a while, the layout hasn’t been abandoned. Just haven’t had much spare time of late. Though not much has happened even now on the layout and a L&YR coach is sitting on the workbench half finished, decorating took up much of the spare time but the Hall kitchen spare bedroom and bathroom are looking much better then in years! Not all bad then. On the layout part of the reason I got board with Rothley was the lack of a fiddle yard. So it seems a good place to start and can be tested. I am thinking of fitting surface mounted points with a mimic board with a pen switch. Though I could use a dcc controller I think the mimic board would be simpler. How to power it is something I’ll need to look into. Well I admit it’s not exciting but a couple of images still needs finishing.
  13. Don’t know about FFAs, I’m bettering on the FFSs, never found them in the BR reference books. But have hard a lot of people mentioned them.
  14. For many years I have had the Corgi static model of the Flying Scotsman which i do love. Yes it’s not got all the detail of the OO model but has it’s smaller I don’t think it matters, and had often thought if it could be motorised. I won’t bother now. I’ve put a order in for the Mallard set, there’s really only one way to see how good something is. Detail can always be added, and is probably easier to add detail then to re-gauge a OO to P4.
  15. There’s a thing called the internet, you may have hard of it. All the youngsters bang on about it. You want young blood in the hobby you go where they are.
  16. I’ve got a horrible feeling it’s big bertha, as KR models have just announced it. Well I’ve just found on Facebook anyway
  17. A OO scale Sun to hang from the Ceiling, also available form those modelling the Uk rain clouds (in a range of colours)
  18. Well the diy plans went out the window, so spent many a happy hours well 1 and half putting hinges in holes either only partly etch or not there at all!. And have tacked the main coach together to give a idea how it will look. I would say look at the instructions, though they are more of a rough idea really. But I think the kit will make a decent model once complete.
  19. Finally got the London road models coaches all done and are on the layout they run fine no last minute adjustments needed. Which is always nice. That bring the none corridor stock up to 16 coaches witch I think should be enough though I’m in to minds what todo with the Hornby Staniers in BR livery. should I repaint them or sell them and buy new ones in LMS livery. started a L&YR BCK the chassis is almost done need a clean and tidy. Nd the steps Ned some attention. yes I realise the Dapol coaches are corridors, though they'd be used for secondly services. Sorry I can’t b bothered re-writing it all. As this phone key pad isn’t playing ball.
  20. The Dapol Stanier’s are now finished been waiting for transfers, needed the 3’s for 3rd class. Now all done they can go on two the layout. Two of the 50’ LRM models are all finished which do look good. The all 1st will be next as I have just about run out of 3’s again! (Should have ordered more) But looking at the stock so far I have 4 Dapol none corridor, there will be 4 LMR models and the 4 Hornby Stanier none corridors so a bit of pick and mix should give at least 2 poss 3 good rakes. I think that will do for none corridor for now but a push pull set is wainted. I’ve ordered my first L&YR 56’ coach from Wizard models. Don’t think I need a full rake but a few to mix with the Stanier III would add interst (saying that I do like sets) it will be interesting how they build compared to Comet and LDM kits.
  21. Had a spare Dapol Stanier non corridor sitting in the cupboard. thought it would be the easiest to start with. It’s had a full paint job as it was in BR red and will be lined. It’s had the chassis detailed moved the back of the battery box to the other side struts fitted and other bits. Fitted Bachmann bogies and painted the sides of the glass windows which has cut down the presume effort, which I think improves it no end. Not perfect but much better then as they come.
  22. A bit more done, well in the loft last time I brought down two LNWR 57’ diagram 205 and 133. coaches in early BR livery. Transfers removed and re-done in LMS livery which wasn’t to hard a job. Even added the couplings so can be pulled around the layout. Yes the rain strips are missing and will be added. They did have some but i redid them a few years ago and forgot to reapply. and the 1st London Road coach has also been tackled. Needs glass fitting which is going to be fiddly but needs doing. incase your wondering no I don’t model in the kitchen, I just bring things in at night so they won’t get pinch.
  23. A little progress on the Peco coaches the LNWR livery ones need transfers applying and all need their roofs fitted but are waiting for some passengers to be added. But wanted to see if they would run ok behind the Ex-LNWR 2-4-0. I thought it was a good excuse to play. Found some other Coaches I’d forgotten about. Think I might be forced into having to strip and repaint them as the BR red is just too red. the LRM coaches is having its transfers add at the moment.
