    Hmm, you can plan a layout over and over, but I guess you always need to do some on the fly reworking.

      track is fixed to the baseboard now, smoothing out some of my joins. Things are certainly progressing well now.

    Never driven a loco before, but I'm hooked on the game. Trickiest I found was the Class 86, took a while to understand the tap changing. I like to think of tap changing like gears on a car now, just gotta be careful I don't over charge and require a reset. Just Trains A4 packs are great, as are the Duchess. Waiting for an update on them though as there are issues with both packs.

      its a nice kit, bought the internal kit too. I've got to a point where I need to paint large sections before I assemble the bulk of it. Ordered direct from Humbrol but they give no indication of delivery timeframe.

    nar, I've always preferred the BR1G tender myself, I always thought the high sided tender made it disproportionately bulky at the back.

      outside structure glued, so far I haven't glued any parts to myself or the table. I also haven't glued myself to anything else.

    Every time I'm in or near Peterborough station now I think about your layout and how much things have changed. Who'd have though a layout would change how I thought about something that is so normal, so mundane to me. When standing on the platform I can imagine the roof, an A3 passing with a fast freight and a shunter nipping between carriages configuring the braking system and coupling the loco up. Truly fantastic work, is it likely to manage any exhibitions?

    A chance missed is a chance lost, sometimes I realise what could have been if things worked out different for me, and I had the balls to do said thing back then. On the other hand its those things that makes us wiser...

      Programmer friend of mine persuaded me to have a look, has some books for me etc. Which langauge I don't know yet, I'm gonna have a chat with him about it further. It's an achilles heel in my ICT knowledge.

      PC based or electronics based? It really, and fundamentally, depends upon your end application. If all u want to do is add 2+2 - to see if you can do it - then you won't see the need to learn and will stop!
