I don't think it is a TV. It looks like a "hole in the wall" between the kitchen an dining areas to me. (The appears to be a bug screen, in the void, just behind the fake fire.) Kev.

I always thought those kind of hats were called "IQ reducers"... ...although, i this case, I don't think there would be much need for them! Kev.

I'm not sure if this was deliberate, or not, but the company I work for always had me visit a customer on the other side of the planet when the Auditors were due to visit! Kev.

The lies are in "2" below: - There are two ways "smart meters" can reduce CO2 emissions. 1/ Is aimed at the clueless that need educating as to which appliances use more electric. (This is the only benefit they directly promote.) 2/ By "flattening" the daily peak demands (reducing "base" load) by encouraging consumers to shift there electric usage to none peak times and penalising those who don't. There is also the "remote control" aspect. 1/ They can "cut" you off easily. 2/ They can change your "tariff" instantly. 3/ They can reduce your peak usage (not sure about this). 4/ They can cut you off if demand is too high. 5/ The "smart meters" can be hacked by the malicious or enemies. 6/ Installation has cost billions for next to no return so far. The benefits so far are: - 1/ Early birds get a discount. (Only temporary.) 2/ Some CO2 has been "saved" by the consumers who have learned which appliances use more and general "good house keeping" by turning things off. 3/ Most consumers no longer need to send in "readings". 4/ Bills (should be) more accurate. 5/ Suppliers of meters have made "loads" of dosh. @hayfield I acknowledge your savings in having a lower tariff but you never acknowledge the above. Kev.

Looks as if the accommodation block was made from containers! Kev.

I thought this happened in India where a train was left and some kind sole set the engine going but the train wasn't going anywhere. The Indian version (this isn't it) left a six-axle "footprint" in the rails. (I'm sure I saw/read it on here some while back.) Kev.

Is it a film set? Kev. -
A "Box Boat" with a difference! She had just manoeuvred to put her stern to the dock to allow a crew member change. I like the "telescopic" Bridge. A few moments later, she is seen powering her way down up stream west. The Ibis Hotel, in Amsterdam Central, is a great place to see trains and boats plus, if the wind is in the right direction, planes too. Kev.

...as a passenger, I definitely prefer my flights not to be exciting! (1 #3 engine fail on take off from Bangkok; 2 a "go around" within (wobbly) feet of Manchester's runway; a "discontinue approach" down into the new airport at Berlin; 4 another "go around" at Seville, for no reason I can ascertain; 5 no number 5 please!) Kev. (Actually, I sleep through most flights now!!)

There was no knitting up along Platform 1, three days ago, but the rest of it looked in place but had a "look" of not being commissioned yet. Kev. -
...I shouldn't laugh but... Kev.

"It's nowhere near finished...." !!! That's a zillion years beyond anything I will ever achieve - though, I am thoroughly inspired. "what else might be located alongside" - how about something discarded lineside? Something that would have been common during the time period depikted. Truly wonderful stuff - please keep posting. Kev.

That ship looks small but I think that truck is going to have to make a LOT of trips just to empty one of her bays. Also, what ever they are hiding under that camouflage isn't very! Kev.

Try losing that down the back of the sofa! Kev.

Here is a couple of rare shots of the tanker train snaking across all the lines via the cross-overs... (If you "flick" between the two photos, you can see the movement.) Kev. -

That's not a bad idea. With a sign in front saying "Can you spot the 10 hazards on this building site?" Just need to add 3 more hazards!!! Kev. -
Mass cull of ticket offices
SHMD replied to newbryford's topic in UK Prototype Discussions (not questions!)
I've stood in that queue many a time and (discreetly) listened to the passengers in front of me - they haven't a clue about the topography or geography of the UK, let alone, the TOC/political splits between operators/regions. You can forget about the bewildering array of ticket types and conditions. Imagine forcing that sh!t on visitors to England via a "smiley app" / ticket machine - the whole thing will grind to a halt with increasing lengthening queues of irate passengers just wanting their "quick" daily local ticket home. I think I have only successfully used the machine(s)* once, and only then because of the huge queue at the ticket windows. *the first machine led you through every thing and then errored! Move onto the next machine... My regular-ish commute cannot be catered for via ticket machine - then I have all my " one off trips around the country - never once has the "machines" approached the pricing - or knowledge - of the ticket office staff. Plus, I have a real problem with eyesight and "apps" - I'm very long sighted and, whilst I am ok with a "familiar app", but then they keep changing it so I have to read each screen wholly - yes all of it - before I can then successfully move onto the next screen (with similar delay) - baskets! My experience of the ticket machine at Stalybridge (Only one of them) is that it can whizz through regulars local tickets but most others slowly (oh soo slowly) get lost in the bl00dy thing, give up and then join the queue at the manned ticket office. What a load of.... Kev. -

I (eventually) found the TPE corporate BS spin on this. It looks like a copy and paste job. (I've corrected the headline banner for them!) https://www.tpexpress.co.uk/ticket-offices-update ((Note the continuing discontent...)) Looks like I will be voting with my feet car in future... Kev. -
