Perhaps with the rise of online banking, bank transfers will become more common?
I had my own experience of international postage last year when I sold off a large proportion of my 4mm stock. A chap in South Africa bought several items. It cost
-
Ah yes, with most 7mm suppliers being a bloke in a shed that must make paying for stuff rather difficuilt for anybody living overseas. It's just not cost effective for smaller suppliers to have facilities to take payment by credit/debit card.
-
Welcome back Peter.
Watersmeet looks fantastic. Who were the nameplates made by?
-
Very nice indeed. You've captured the atmosphere perfectly.
On my 4mm layout, Seagry, I painted the base of the Dapol signal a dirty concrete colour so that it would blend in. Have a look here.- 1

Crikey, how have I missed your blog!
Abslotuely stunning work.
-
Crikey! Fantastic work.
-
Great work. It's really coming along nicely.

The paint is off now and I am begining to make it a kit of parts. Slowly making a list, I want to keep it as small as possible otherwise the feeling of bargin starts to dissapear.
Yes, exactly.
Hopefully your list of parts required wil be short.
-
Hmmmm...... that is a challenge.
I think I'd start with a good soak in some cellulose thinners. That should get rid of the horrendous paint job and any bits glued on should drop off.
I'd love a Hall of my own, but I think I'll wait and maybe one day I'll be able to afford a JLTRT kit.

Somebody get that man some wheels! We want to see the 43xx! :-)
Seconded!
-
It's been worth the wait. A fantastic peice of modelling.
I'm looking forward to seeing photo's of the 43XX, the Chiurchward Moguls are one of my favourite classes.

It has, I parked it next to the 2MT and the loco dwarfed it. The tender is the same size as the terrier, but heavier. It is about 475mm (18 3/4") over the buffers
Now there's a photo I'd like to see.

It already looks like what it's ment to be!

Is it really it expemsive/difficult to post to Brazil?
-
It looks great. Excellent work indeed.
You could try posting in the wanted transfer thread, here:

Someone may have the S&DJR section of the Midland sheet sitting around unwanted..

Very nice Kev but whats the bar for on the end as I've never seen that on fruit d's before.
Thanks Rob.
I've built my Fruit D as the later BR version (the kit includes parts to make GWR and BR variants). The bar on the end is the electric light switch. If you look closely you may be able to make out the battery box and dynamo too.

Thanks Nick. :-)

I can see myself heading towards the Scorpio stand at Telford,
They'll be getting some more of my money at Telford too!

I built a JLTRT MK1 CCT just after xmas (pressie from parents), that just got a wash in some soapy water and went together just fine. The worst problem with it was cleaning up the whitemetal battery boxes.
-
These look very nice, I remember seeing the siphon on the bench when you started the 14XX.
Thanks Peter,
Yeah, that was a good few months ago! I built the Siphon G over three weeks just before xmas last year, but it's taken me seven months to get around to painting and weathering it.
-
Hi Kev, glad to hear the Scorpio kits go together ok! Along with the siphon, there are a number of their loco's I'd like to build, in particular I like the look of their Armstong Goods. If anyone out there has built one of these i'd be really interested to hear their views on it.
Would love to see some pics of your Siphon G, seriously big beasts, very impressive looking stock.
Best wishes
Dave

Great build. The siphon looks really good.
My Scorpio 14xx/58xx went together pretty well. It was simply a matter of taking my time and discovering some patience I didn't know I had. A few of the castings needed a little work to tidy them up. Before xmas last year I built a Scorpio Siphon G. That was a very time consuming kit to build. Lots of overlays to build up to make the sides. But it did go together really well.
I can post some photo's of the Siphon G if you'd like.

Hmm, this looks rather interesting.
Best of luck!

Those etches look pretty well tarnished to me. I wonder how long they have been sat in the box.
I'm looking forward to you completing this to your usual high standard.
