  1. The perils of Google Translate... But my master has just been eaten by a lion => Lakini bwana wangu amekula tu na simba Lakini bwana wangu amekula tu na simba => But my master has just eaten a lion But my master has just eaten a lion => Lakini bwana wangu amekula simba tu Lakini bwana wangu amekula simba tu => But my master has only eaten lions But my master has only eaten lions => Lakini bwana wangu amekula simba tu Only the last two lines are consistent with clearly the biggest issue being between the first two. After that the problems are only tense and plurals; though one could say eating lions is more of a problem than eating a lion!
  2. You mentioned Newcastle Emlyn earlier in the thread at which the mileage roads do end up parallel to the main lines. However, one station further along the branch is Henllan... I've tipped the map upside down but ignoring the curve going the other way it's oddly familiar and does show the mileage sidings going off away from the main line very similar to the way Harlequin has them. In fact with the access to the yard (over the bridge and opposite the Railway Inn and the yard crane and cattle dock positions you'd think he'd actually looked at Henllan Kind regards, Neil
  3. Hi Pete, Thanks for the interest. There's nothing really of photographic merit, mainly as a result of the school holidays having started. However, I actually feel further on on two fronts. Then first is that I've had probably two or three full days worth of effort in garage and loft sorting stuff and clearing from garage to loft. So now in our double garage we have more than a single garage worth of floor space... just not all yet in one place. Still some way to go before I'm able to put in the dividing wall and floor, but I go in there now and see some light (well I do if I flick the switch anyway) as I have stood up Doxey End in the largest of the spaces, albeit on a sloping floor. The second area is that when I went with the family to Center Parcs I took my soldering projects box and finished off two MERG kits (A CANPAN and a CANPAN test module for those that are interested in such things). They're still to be tested as I didn't take all my equipment on holiday. But as they're for use on Doxey End (which I should probably update over on that thread) that doesn't really count as progress on this thread in the same way that garage clearance does! I go away again in a week and will be taking some wagon kits related to Newcastle Emlyn with me (I've also been active on eBay again!) so if there's no progress at home before then at least I'll have more wagons by the end of the school holidays, which I think is quite an achievement given keeping three kids occupied around working hours is a fair workload in itself! I also need to get on with writing up my scenarios that I kicked off with 1896 over a year ago!
  4. So Kevin's got it all wrong then as he has one in front and one behind!
  5. Number 4 for me because of the low angle. But I must say that number 1 did appeal as I liked the signal just appearing over the top of the loco!
  6. I would say that on a BLT you have a little more leeway than that as many of the through stations on small branches had goods facilities only accessed from one direction. So the BLT would see goods for these intermediate stations, or empties from them, brought in, run around and taken back out without any facilities at the BLT for handling then. So you don't necessarily need a creamery at the BLT for your milk tanks as long as the branch has one somewhere along it. But a through station would need one if the tanks are stopped there. So that principle could make some more detailed differences to your traffic flows if some of your facilities are only accessed by trains going in one direction. Kind regards, Neil
  7. I like the idea of simple roundy layouts for quick testing and play value. I'm definitely going to do one with the kids but it will be as much for me as them! One thing I would say about your terrain view though is that I'd have the road from the halt go to the left over a bridge (or tunnel if you want to hide some of the curve) as the direct link you have to the main station road highlights the short distance between them. Watching with interest. Kind regards, Neil
  8. Hmm. While I understand the desire for the illustration look I'm not sure about the illustration style. To me it looks slightly out of place because of the realism of rest of the model. Though how you should go about portraying a realistic loco face I have no idea! But I'm loving the journey and eager to see where it ends up! Kind regards, Neil
  9. There are a couple of 517s on very different greens on the https://www.leemarshmodelco.com/pages/gallery website. I don't know if either of them are the one you're looking for but they certainly give options for colour! Kind regards, Neil
  10. No it wouldn't. I've seen lots of such photos and the colour is clear in them... If it's foggy then its monochrome and if it's smoggy then its sepia.
  11. Only in an English village game would having the correct number of players on the pitch be seen as more important than knowing who wins by keeping score Good on you though sir for taking up the gauntlet. I hope you enjoyed your run out on the grass! Kind regards, Neil
  12. I knew you'd get to yours before I got to mine. I have to say that I'm not looking forward to all that fettling, but I am looking forward to a finished product! I'll be following closely to see what works and what doesn't. Was the Halfords primer the filler primer, or just the normal? At the end though you'll have something that you're never likely to get RTR and it will all be worth it! Kind regards, Neil
  13. That one has been repainted between the flickr photo (2013) and the current Google Streetview shot of 2018... Mind you, the street as a whole has been done up a lot as well. But it's good to see the history of the wall markings being preserved, even if it's no longer the original paint. Kind regards, Neil
  14. Hmm. I was perfectly happy with mine until I saw this... Now I'm going to have to remove the hooks and build my own! Nice build! kind regards, Neil
  15. I know that I'm meant to be looking at the locos. Magnificent beasts they are with some wonderful coal, beautiful weathering, incredibly realistic crew and everything else. But... the thing that jumped to me on the colour picture was the sheep to the right clearly thinking that it's seen something nice to eat down near the front of the King while the one to the left seems to be unsure as to whether to follow or whether a big noisy smelly green monster is better avoided! Fantastic modelling!
  16. Google translates the third clause as "go under the bridge" so if you don't understand the rest at least you have a functional answer...
  17. I try to get my waggons around the 25g per axle mark. So at £8.50 for 15g this could end up as the most expensive component! £0.50 for 60g... that sounds much more like my kind of price point. I really like the look of these and will give them a go. Thank you! Kind regards, Neil
  18. It was that picture that made me decide to go for the engine shed as the diorama. There's so much detail in it that can all be in that small space. Adding in the turntable isn't really needed, but adds a bit more of the technological development that I'm also looking for. As for the shed, no it won't go here as I am keeping to prototype as much as I can for places where there are photos. But it will appear in one of the gardens of the houses that are in front of the platform. But it's quite a modern design, so I'll not be able to use it for the earliest time periods.
  19. Thank you Mikkel, I've managed to come up with lots of nice plans. But once I get around to actually producing a finished product if it has half the atmosphere of your layouts I'll be delighted. I'm forever looking back to your blog for updates on the Finkerbury files and more secrets from the drawing office but he seems to be rather quiet at the moment! Kind regards, Neil
  20. It does state that he was "most small and rectangular" so it is entirely possible that someone else, much larger than him, had picked him up and stood him upon the box.
  21. That just added it once However, AndyY has answered my call with an answer that's a little embarrassing! "Have you tried clicking on the bin icon on the image?" I looked and I saw. I clicked and it went! In my defence the icon does overlay the image and it's in the same colour palette as my image so I simply hadn't seen it. I'd looked for a delete link, or item in the menu around the image, but not spotted the bin in the bottom right hand corner of my image! Problem solved... thanks Andy!
  22. OK... so that's a little embarrassing! Though in my defence I hadn't seen the bin icon as it's overlaid on the image and was in the same colour scheme as the image. Thanks Andy! Kind regards, Neil
  23. Thanks Chris. When I double click on the image in the uploads list it just inserts it twice into the body of the post. If I get an answer from the help forum I'll post it as I regularly see posts that clearly have the same problem.
  24. Hi Chris, thanks for looking. That works to remove the pictures in the post, but the unwanted one that I've uploaded in error and deleted from the body of the post (using the method you state here) remain visible below the post (the big copy of the plan) once it's saved. I want to remove this unwanted image from the uploaded images list so that it doesn't do that. I've posted the query in the help forum, so will hopefully have an answer eventually. Kind regards, Neil
