  1. Interesting thought. I wasn't sure how this would fit with KMRC producing models that worked in their area, but according to the Southern e-mail group, while initially working in London at Norwood and Hither Green, some were later allocated to Ashford and Eastleigh works and in the 60s, some were working at Bournemouth, which would make a link. Of course it could be just a version of an existing model.
  2. In todays KMRC newsletter (30th Sept), there is a hint of a new exclusive. Under an item stating 'coming soon' for their exclusive Heljan Class 45 within 14 days, they posted 'coming sooner' 'It is a class with more than 11.....' Indicates its due before the Heljan 45 exclusive.
  3. Replica Railways still have Commonwealth bogies, either in kit form (cross piece plus two side frames) or made up. They are made to order with metal wheels and couplings for £8.95 per pair. They have a push fit post with wider top, designed to fit older Mainline or Bachmann. You should be able to adapt the post to fit the Hornby locating hole and platform.
  4. Interestingly, the RM tracking info on my parcel, started last Thurs 22nd, but the parcel got to RM on the 29th. Unfortunately will now be delayed by the RM latest 2 day strike. Never mind, will still arrive next week.
  5. If you want to have my old early style pan, I'm happy to send it for you to play with, once I've received the replacement from New Modellers. If you would like it, please pm me your address, no charge.
  6. Hope this helps, have attached photo of the underside of the early pan, have taken it off as have ordered a high speed spare, thanks for the heads up. The 4 corner prongs all have locating points that slot into holes in the tops of the insulators. The measurements between the corner locating points are: Front to back 14.5 mm Side to side 16.5 mm
  7. If you go back to the first post, there is a link to the Dapol original announcement, it is still live and is best to look there as they are producing 6 liveries and these were due to be manufactured in two batches, 3 months apart, so you need to check for your particular version. Mine, the BR crimson is in batch 1, which was estimated to be in production now.

  10. Sung with a deep female German voice: 'Never vonted tooo Vot am I tooo doo Can't helllp eet' I am of German descent, so hope I got away with it, danke shoen'..
  11. We forget just how much processing of coal went on in towns and cities. My dad worked for the Wandsworth Gas Co, in SW London, post war. It produced town gas by burning coal in retorts, to produce gas and coke. Its plant was alongside the River Wandle, so that coal could be delivered to site by barge, as well as rail.
  12. Rails have just posted on their website that they are expecting their stock of Fells, in early October.
  13. Strangely, the additional versions, which I think were listed in the 2020 catalogue, are currently listed as coming out in early 2023 with the 2019 versions currently listed as autumn 2023. The original versions have a lower price than the later versions, but many a price change can be made, so question is do I change my order for a 2020 version. I think I'll wait till they arrive.
  14. Thank you Chris for the information about 31246, it's a minefield, but great that they have done thorough research.
  15. Is there an error with the late BR livery as the wheel held by the lion is facing forward on both sides. Dapol made a mistake on the D with the early BR in not having the lion facing forward on both sides, this is correct on the samples for the early D1 but the late crests are now incorrectly forward facing on both sides. The earlier livery samples of the late crest version was ok. I will e-mail Rails as when the D error was identified they and Dapol were unwilling to replace the tender top unless 31246 was one of the few BR late crest with forward facing on both sides.
  16. Meanwhile, back to the Fell, KR have posted on their Facebook site, that the container with the Fells, has arrived in the UK and now waiting Customs clearance.
  17. Were the standard 5s that operated the Waterloo to west of England services, with large capacity tenders, only the King Arthur named locos, after receiving names from the withdrawn King Arthurs.
  18. Have received 73049, my ebay purchase, ex Pat Hammond reference collection. It is in pristine condition, very happy with the purchase.
  19. Kernow Models latest newsletter advises that all 3 9fs have arrived, and Bure Valley Models also show all 3 versions as in stock.

    Dapol 'Western'

It may reflect it's initial livery on release from build in Jan 1963. According to the Diesel Traction Group the 'A' end had an experimental yellow panel, which it wore for 4 days, before repainting into oblong. I assume the preservation ochre livery with the 'T' shaped panel recreates this.
  21. Similarly charged for 4 six wheel coaches, full brakes and brake thirds, in BR liveries.

  23. That was the seller. I bought the loco as it seems to be in pristine condition and represents a loco that worked on the S&D and Bristol.
