  2. With the weather forecasters saying the temperatures are going to drop over the weekend, i thought these photo's would be fitting 47381 stabled at Workington 47535 just arrived from Carlisle to work the evening mail train now north of the border 47636 standing at Carstairs 47118 at Inverness shed,(we had a permit for the shed and it was brass monkey weather!!) Ray
  3. Here's a few of the Floodex Workington-Maryport shuttle trains, these were top and tailed with a 47 and either a 37,47,57,or 66 47790 at Workington 47712 just outside Workington at Siddick 47832 at the back of the next Maryport train 47501 slowing for the temporary Workington north stop Ray
  4. Ian A word of warning,it's nothing to do with the weather,it's to do with beer or lack of it, i've be that busy, haven't had a pint for over 2 weeks, lots to catch up on,bring plenty of beer tokens, hope they've got bye one get one free!!!! Koos Glad you like the layout, thanks very much. Ray
  5. "Duff's",everyone's favorite, they were ten a penny around Workington,in every colour you could think of,will have to have a dig around in my albums, but here's a few to keep you going. 47116 waiting for the road south,on the afternoon Workington-Dover speedlink 47113 on Selafeild bound flask 47330 backing towards MGR at Workington, passingshut down 47333 47342 on the Maryport-Fiddlers ferry MGR Ray
  6. If eveything goes to plan, and i can tame those soundtraxx decoders(bu**er to program with lenz)these will be the roads i'll be using at Barrow exhibition next weekend. Erie s4 Conrail gp38 NYC H10-44 Penn Central S12 If your in the area call in,(i know Barrow's on the end of a 40 mile cul-de-sac)it looks to be a good show, there might be some slow orders on the Sunday, all depends how much Ian(Roundhouse)can pour down my throat(i should be so lucky)on the Saturday night do. Ray
  7. Cheers Ian See you at barrow in October, where you can fill me full of beer(bring plenty on money) on Saturday night at the Prince of Wales. Ray
  8. Now and then there are DRS trains of Workington docks to Drigg,in the period 2008-10 when they were building some new repository at Drigg, all materials were loaded on Workington dock and shipped in by train, these could end up with any type of power from 20's 37's or 66 in any formation, always top and tailed. here's a few photo's of some of the trains. 510 on the morning loaded to Drigg, the train has to run to Maryport to get access to the up line to Drigg,it's quite a load for a single tractor,15 loaded(stone) and a mega-fret +2 tractors. 218-609 at the other end of the train, these will work the train from Maryport. 602-66416 with the afternoon returning empties at Harrington. 218-20309 with a mega-fret of re-bars bound for Drigg via Maryport 609-218 same train different day at Flimby 218-609 with re-bars and concrete pipe 688-087 with 2 loaded (sand) on Workington docks Beauty of these trains, you could/can photography them coming back from Marport, with the back loco's on the front, when the empties come back in the late afternoon they reverse onto the docks. Don't all rush to Workington to photo them, these haven't run for 18 months or so. Ray
  9. Mal I'm going on Sunday with layout details in hand, suppose to be meeting up with Jon Grant, and John H Wright is usually there doing a demo, dosen't look like i'll see much for catching up on the crack!! Like Pete said once word gets about hopefully invite will flood in!!! Ray
  10. Not yet October, then one in November,i've had a couple of inquires, but nothing has come of them, not everyone wants American layouts it seems? Trouble is a lot of exhibition managers like to see the layouts(some are prepared to book me because the've had me before and know my standard of work), rather than be told about it. Helm's out a couple of times early next year, and i've a couple of small jobs to do on that, then i can start on the modules(if work permits) Cheers Ray
  11. more transrail (in service!) 799 with morning Carlisle trip 898 on you know what Ray
  12. Can you imagine how boring Carlisle was up till 1992,(Ravescriag shut) when nearly all loaded trains were pairs of 37,on still cold days(and nights) you could here them coming miles away, and to think when they got here if it was nothing new we wouldn't bother a photo(film wasn't cheap then, could kick myself now). Here's a few photo's of some of the Ravenscraig traffic 042-313 on steel coils 042-201 on steel beams 087-057 mixed steel 520-040 steel beams 310-071 with northbound emptys then there was 099-505 loaded limestone 667-057 loaded limestone 077-667 " white ladies" limestone 504-??? loaded limstone then around the same time there was the "gunniy cement" 070-??? with loaded northbound 678-679 with loaded northbound then you got these sometime 252-298 diverted felixstowe- coatbridge freightliner and,of coarse 671-674 southbound (empty) china clay What a boring place to live near, not half as exciting as it is now, shed on this, shed on that!!!!! Hope you enjoy a blast to my past Ray

  18. Well, had a few spare nights this week to finish my details off,the background sound i added to the layout has some bird sounds, seagulls, crows and pigeons/doves,so i only thought it fitting to add said birds(if you think these look small, you should see them on the layout) doves seagulls pigeons forgot to take pictures of crows Also in the packet where some birds of prey, and having found out there are 14 different ones in and around the New york area i thought i could justify one(help keep the rats down) hawk Another sound is a hotdog vender shouting "get your hotdogs here",not being able to find a HO scale hotdog seller,i had to cobble one together, using some plasticard and a preiser ice cream seller(#10169),couldn't find a umberella,so made one out of paper,it's not the best, but it does the job. get your hotdogs here Just a couple of cabooses to weather then she done, ready for it's first two day show at Barrow in October. Ray
