59th AND RUST ( NOW retired 2021)
long island jack replied to long island jack's topic in USA & Canadian Railroads
It usually the case, when you see any new railway equipment being installed (signal, trackwork etc) it's always a signed die for that branch line,so just as the MOW gangs have finished putting the new (secondhand ones) crossbucks up,it won't be long before it's all gone and made into a parking lot for the new proposed shopping mall!!!!!. Though i have heard rumours there's a petition going around against the closure, this may give it a stay of execution, see it while you can!! Ray -

During the miners strike in the mid 80's,Thornaby allocated pairs of 56 (instead of the usual pairs of 37's) to the Lacken-Workington steel trains, some of these 56 where still being run in and some had just come out of works(you could still smell the wet paint!!) 119-134 at Siddick juc 131-028 leaving the exchange sidings 133-097 leaving Workington 131-128 standing in the steelworks exchange sidings Ray- 822 replies

Well i've done it,i've final won something, the only other thing i've ever won was a wet teashirt competition and that was by default, someone knocked my pint over and i couldn't stop crying all night!! Thank to all the L&Y DCC members and committee who voted my layout best in show,i'm really chuffed, all that hard work has payed off. Also thanks to the paying public for all the kind comments(it looks better than the photo's). For a change it was nice to talk to people who were interested in American railroads and the techniques i'd used to create my slice of America and not once did i hear "it's only another American layout" Time to celebrate with a cup of tea(had enough beer for the weekend, with the Barrow gang and the Oldham lads and the rest of us jameaters!!!) Ray P.S sorry about the cheesey smile- 738 replies

That still gives you a good reason to sample different beers and research the brewery,in the chance you find a rail cornected one. I was drinking the Gosse island IPA last night in my local spoons,( all in the name of research you know), i found the last bottle tasted as good as the first, will have to do more researched over the weekend Ray

Andy i've searched high and low for info on cross buck at both side of road (obviously looking in the wrong places),i can find loads about stop, yeild, extra sign approaching the crossing, but now't about 2 cross buck either side of road. Can you point me in the right direction, won't have time to do alteration now,but if i think it will benifit the layout, will have it done for TVNAM Ray -

Interesting, even on a lightly used street like Rust st!!! to be honest i thought they had to be on the right hand side, didn't know they had to be on both sides,is this law in all states or does it vary from state to state?? Don't want the rossers after me!!i have enough trouble with the rivet counters Ray -

After buying a badge off the shed foreman at Allerton (no permit),he always let us walk around unattended,(those were the days,a smile and a pound each for a badge, which i still have some where) not that there ever was much there! 626 902 917 Next,St Pancras station, after traveling down over night on the sleeper from Carlisle, this was always our first port of call when spotting in London . 890 926 Ray
