  1. Wisbleat and Tupwell does have a nice sound to it............ R
  2. And continuing with the East Anglian theme, we have a view of a J70 at Ewe, a now forgotten extension of the Wisbech and Upwell tramway. Rob
  3. Essentially, Bachmann are providing us with a lovely little, ready made, narrow gauge cameo layout....... Or an opportunity to use the engine shed/store/water tower for a idiosyncratic standard gauge light railway scenario.... Having already done that in 4mm, the prospect of doing same in 7mm does appeal. Rob
  4. It was indeed an excellent show. Great to meet @Northroader and have an all too brief chat. NEWGOG, irrespective of the scale you model in, is well worth making the effort to attend. I would group it with Railwells and Larkrail. A relatively small show packed with quality exhibits and nice people in a very nice venue. Rob
  5. Holy Cr@p. That's torn it ! Looks like the family silver will be moved on......again... Rob
  6. Morning. I shall see you there then. Sadly, no cake with me. However, better the Memsahib finalises the SWAG cake order than diverts here valuable resources elsewhere.....
  7. Morning all, Just a quick update to say if anyone is popping into the O gauge show in Newport today, I'll see you there. I'm there on behalf of @Lord and Butler Model Railways with a selection of O gauge goodies. I know @Gilbert is there with Lockdown Fen, fighting a 00 gauge rearguard action with his 2ic, Eric. Be lovely to see you there. Rob.
  8. Always a tad tricky, Dave. Linament makes one's wool somewhat matted. Devil of a job getting it out. Simply having a dip isn't sufficient. Rob
  9. A search of the internet finds these. Photos by Adam Clark. Happy to remove if any objections received. Rob.
  10. It's not rocket science though is it. This is a fundamental error which should have been picked up way before production. EPs etc must have passed though mutiple hands and been viewed many time. Surely someone must have noticed and asked a seemingly obvious question..... On the one hand, their 2MT shows exactly what Hornby are capable of. On the other, this shows exactly what Hornby are capable of...............
  11. Cough....SWAG...Cough.....28th April....Cough.......
  12. Well, I am a sixties sheep.........
  13. Morning Dave, As always, looking forward to bringing something sheep shaped along. Even looking forward to the Saturday morning sprint over ! Rob
  14. Yeah Baby ! Tie-dye back scene..........far out ! Groovy Sheep.
  15. Afternoon all, Further updates and banter on the main thread but suffice to say, three weeks from now all will be done and dusted......... Rob.
  16. Morning all, Just a gentle reminder to seek out any items to pop into the bring and buy. Please fill out a form to accompany your goodies ahead of attending. SWAG2024 Bring and Buy Form-Extremly Very Final Form Rev3.docx Rob
  17. Should adequately conceal the assorted stains from the errant chocolate cake.
  18. Morning all, Gwen tells us that three weeks today, Staplegrove Village Hall with be a hive of activity as we will all be working out if things will fit and what we have collectively forgotton. The Crack Catering Team are limbering up for what we hope will be a grand day out and the Special Retailing Executive are poised like coiled cobras to extract visitors funds in exchange for a selection of quality previously enjoyed items. Today's featured layout transports us to Ben Ashworth’s domain, The Forest of Dean. Alex, aka @wiggoforgold has produced a number of fine layouts over the years and his ex Great Eastern modelling is another inspiration behind my own East Anglian interests and my build of Ewe, my nod to the Wisbech and Upwell. Back to SWAG though and Lydbrook Dean is Alex's take on the FoD and features typical foresty motive power in the form of the ubiquitous Pannier tanks and more recently, a Class 14. Alex built trees feature heavily along with some quite stunning rock faces ( again Alex's own work ) and it all combines to provide a lovely rendition of yet another railway system and an assiciated way of life lost to "progress"....... Learning from Alex's previous layouts, Lydbrook is more easily transported across the rear seats of a family car as it folds upon itself. Another feature of Alex's layouts are the way in which he depicts colour and in the same way as Martyn @mullie, Alex has quite his own style and pallette. So, like all our layouts, there is much to ask about and much to be inspired by on Lydbrook.
  19. Hi H, I reckon 2011 and yes, it was down an alley/corridor and right at the end, on the left. I'll probably order from AMB and get things delivered to the in laws. If I take s controller and circle of track, I could even play trains when I get there ! Rob
  20. Morning all, Further updates are now on the main thread in the Area Groups area. Full steam remains fully ahead. Rob.
  21. In contrast, my application for a complimentary 'Gold Member' ticket couldn't have been simpler. Emailed, reply received a day or so later and free electronic ticked dropped into the inbox shortly after. Top stuff. Rob.
  22. Morning all, Yes, spoke to Tim yesterday evening. He is off for a works visit for some long overdue essential maintenance a few days before so will be unable to attend with Bethesda. Obviously very much missed on the day but it remains incumbent on us to ensure that Tim is able to monitor proceedings from his bath chair on the veranda. I'm sure he will be in good hands. Rob.
  23. I did find one. About a ten minute walk from the station, passing the former headquarters of the Gestapo during the war according to the plaque on the wall of the building. The shop building was entered at street level through a very non descript single door before you climbed some stairs to a long corridor at the end of which was a sign alongside a plain door which you opened to reveal a model shop. Small but quite a bit of stock within. Very nice lady within who spoke a little English. Fortunately, the Memsahib was with me so no issue with comms. And I can't remember the name..........and no, I hadn't been to the brewery first. So not a particularly helpful update from me I'm afraid other than to suggest there was one approx ten years ago. Rob.
