  1. This seems a bit naughty.......and downright misleading to the ill informed.. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/364811513843?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=g_n2tzxqs7o&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=7pDx9g0GQlm&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=WHATS_APP Rob
  2. Oh, and in the interim, Ewe is off to the seaside. @exmoordave and the team @Exmoor Coast Railway Modellers really do put on a lovely day and as the above flyer flyer says, it's a friendly show and well worth the trip. Hopefully I won't drop my flake in my wool this year.......... Note the earlier date as well, avoiding a clash with Railwells which itself had to change this year. Rob.
  3. Morning all, Fairly frantic at Chateau Sheep yesterday. The Room of Doom was reorganised with the need to provide a better, more accessible site for Project W to be progressed from. Still a bit to play with but pretty much all done so, hopefully, I can now make a proper start on a layout which has it's first public outing in a smidge over 18 weeks. Rob
  4. A lovely show and my thanks to Heather and the team for providing a warm welcome and much support over the weekend. A great way to open the batting for the exhibiting year ahead and lovely to catch up with so many friends once again.........and to get a gong at the end really put the tin hat on it. Top stuff
  5. Have to say Lydbrook was the stand out layout at Nailsea for me. Each time I passed, albeit not very often, it looked lovely. In addition, many visitors to Sheep Dip mentioned Lydbrook is the most favourable of terms. Another triumph. Rob
  6. Morning all, Well, a good weekend was had. A soldering session on Sunday morning sorted out Saturday afternoon's pulled wire and though Sunday was quieter than Saturday, it was a good day. Lots of friendly faces and of note was the official visit yesterday by @Captain Kernow who was graciously accompanied by CTMK. But as I say, many friendly faces made for a lovely chatty weekend which was rounded off with something very special indeed. Rob.
  7. Morning K, Good to see you yesterday. Thank you. Dippy pretty much behaved itself. I've got a nice spot, tucked away. Once today is attended to, it's full on for SWAG and the new project. Morning, Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed Dip. It's probably one of the most satisfying of the layouts so far. Operation is quite simple really but it does have one or two quirks which make it fun to operate in places ( read "why did I build it like that ?!) I didn't stray very far from the layout yesterday so haven't really seen much of the other exhibits as of yet. I'm hoping to nip about before doors open today but I need to sort an errant wire/connector which by the end of the day was giving me a Norman Collier effect to the controller.........but I may also have a wander towards the end of proceedings if it tails off before close of play. So, here's to day two of what thus far has been a very enjoyable weekend. Rob.
  8. Hi Pete, No idea but now added in where appropriate to the OP Rob
  9. Morning all, That was an exciting couple of days but Sheep Dip is as ready as it will be ( given the time spent) to face the masses at Nailsea. Layout is done and everything is checked and plonked in the dining room ready to pack later. Rather late finish last night/ this morning but all good. Progress was assisted by headphones and a good dollop of Guns and Roses, Slash and Myles Kennedy. All done....then I stood back and realised I'd made a complete horse's arse of the screw spacing on the front fascia. Not overly worried. It happens and is easily resolved.......but not in the time I have left so it will go as is and I can correct it before the next outing in October. Anyone going to Nailsea, I'll see you there. Feel free to treat that particular corner of a foreign school that is Ovine for the weekend as base camp Sheep while you saunter about the rest of the show. Rob.
  10. Just out of interest, check the inside of the skirts. I've seen a few which run poorly and it's down to the skirts making contact with the connecting rods as they rotate. The skirts are easily squeezed in when handling these little chaps. Easy to identify if this is the issue as you will, on turning little chap upside down, see a circular or semi circular mark on the insude of the skirt, consistent with the rotatoon of the eccentric return crank joint thingy on the connecting rod. Rob
  11. Totally agree. It's a good time to be modelling things Great Eastern . As an aside, your J70 should be creepy crawly on DC. All three of mine were before I fitted decoders. Is yours skirted or unskirted ? Rob
  12. Details of Cropper Street Siding now added in place of Timmy's Bottom. Rob
  13. I ordered some from the rep today. He advised that delivery was two to three weeks. If I remember correctly, RRP was £7.50 but as for the quantity, I have no idea........ Rob
  14. Cardiff calling, Cardiff calling. News of a late substitution has arrived st Chateau Sheep. Chris H, aka @Gilbert wasn't happy with certain aspects of Timmy's Bottom and rather than present something which in his eyes wasn't quite up to scratch, he's bringing Plopper Street Sidings along instead. Full details to follow. OP updated. I thank ewe.
  15. We need to remember that this is a pre-production sample, complete with the inevitable occasional rough edge. Rob
  16. I've said it before and will continue to advise, DCC is as complicated as you want to make it. I simply want things to move well and where suitably fitted, make a noise/noises. @Gilbert and his henchmen gave me good advice when I was looking to dip a hoof into it and I've not had any issue in following said advice since. As it is with our mobile phones, most of us don't use more than 15-20% of their capabilities, because we don't need to and so it is with DCC systems. Rob
  17. Righteous and hopeful Sheep here, sending some positive waves. It's a mother beautiful house. OddSheep.
  18. Morning all, Good to see more healthy debate and comments about DCC. As I've said before, my involvement is relatively recent though my large loft layout built in the early 2000s was DCC, powered usung a Bachmann Dynamis. These days of course, my projects are much smaller but my "demands" regarding controlability have even more focus than before. Frankly, I've always been a fussy bu@@er when it comes to slow speed running (with the associated starting and stopping) but I accept I'm worse niw tgan before. DCC caters for that. Smooth loco on DC + GOOD QUALITY decoder + clean track = Happy Sheep. When you add the dimension of sound then it really is Cameo fun. Just one loco shuffling about plus a bit of bucolic background noise is where I want to be. Ewe will hopefully get there later this year with Rapido's intention to make sound kits available to retro fit to earlier J70s such as mine. Project W won't initially be sound orientated but may go that way eventually. But, aside from the smallest of dioramas, I can't now envisage building a layout which isn't DCC powered. Rob
  19. Yes, I can see payment is due for my GER examples on the 29th March. Braced. Rob
  20. I've mentioned upthread, in my opinion a stay alive is not needed. Mine are used on an exhibition layout that requires excellent slow running. They're not found wanting and I do object to the look of a stay alive through the windows. Rob.
