  1. Dear members. I received mine at last today. I'm working on a review and opening video but due to some serious health issues I am delayed. However I wanted to alert you to a possible weakness associated with opening the unit to fit dcc/passengers etc. The handrails at the mid point must be un-clipped at the bottom, some eegit had glued mine in partly! Please use tweezers and gently twist and rock to free. Once free they become a right pain in the well known. Open from the trailing end and use thin card to disengage the clips. The body slides away from the trailing end then up and away. Be aware of the LED wires crammed into the corner of the trailing end! These pop out and can easily be broken by trying to put the body back on. Please offer the trailing end in first but do so from about 2 CM back and slide it along and in, this will prevent wire damage. Lovely model, video soon Mike MRU

  11. Thanks Makes sense. However was this always the case my late friend used to work at UD and said that they did use large rubber pipes that had to be dipped into the tanks, the discharge pipe was then connected to this.
  12. We are all familiar with the 4 (pre 1937) and 6 wheeled (1937-70s) milk tank wagons used on our railways. I thought I knew how they were filled. A good friend (now gone) remembered them being filled with hoses from a lorry via the top hatch on the tank wagon. Hence the ladder etc. The pipes were pushed down inside the tank near the bottom to prevent foam. However I have seen it suggested that the tanks were filled via the outlet pipes at the bottom. Again to prevent foam. While this makes sense and would possibly be a lot more 'clean' than sticking a pipe in a hole at the top lol the concept does not sit well with me as I do know that initially that churns of milk were poured into the top of the tanks. Can anyone please confirm the method used? Thanks
  13. Hey guys, I'm getting absoutly stuck trying to reserch the two coach set built for the LBSCR 3907 (diag 197) 6146 (diag 335) and run as set 793 in Southern days on the Hayling Island line. I'm getting varuous builtd dates and coach lengths coming at me as well as confusing scrap dates and possible preservation. I know they were 54ft. Can anyone shine some light please?
  14. Hi all Many thanks. I went with grey primer and they now look nice. Darker than the originals for sure but I've seen such a wide variance of shades online that I think they will do. I'll say they are fresh from a respray (which is true lol)
  15. Hi Like many the containers have suffered UV damage and become yellow on places. I'm minded to spray over it all with grey primer and leave it at that. While I have seen a terrific variation in the grey applied, I wonder if my proposal will be too dark? I'm looking to do this on a mimited budget. Thoughts please?

  17. Hi guys Has anyone come up with a suitable metal wheel for the Triang/Hornby freightliner flats? I measured the wheel as 25.7 mm across the pint point axel tips. 10.8mm over the tread and 12.65 over the large flanges. I can't seem to find wheels that would fit, HO stuff has the right wheel profile but the axels are way too short. Standard Hornby wagon wheels have the right axels but of course the wheels are 12.6 etc. Thanks

  19. A little bit of clarification. On the trailing bogie which hole does the bolt go through the one nearest the coupling of furthest, and why is there two options lol Is there a washer between the short spacer/ underside of bogie and chassis mount as shown in my picture here? I find the bogie can't rotate enouth without? Assuming the bolt that is fixed to the centre hole in the motor arm is a short one, maybe 10mm? I don't seem to have that in my parts so far but can easily get one? Many thanks again
  20. Humphrey I am indebted to you! Really, really helpful information and answers several of my questions. I'm working on it today so very timely as well. The motor magnet is completely dead! never come across that before, so that will need recharging later. Many thanks, regards Mike
