  1. Oh I see inaccuracies on the model now, the wires pass behind the bands whereas the stays are in front, also the stays affix to the outside of the sole bar.

I've also now done a video review of my models which shows off the amazing detail. How nice to have a proper cradle mounted tank wagon!   4. Ah problem solved! I have a photo of the exact wagon on the 12th March 1952 taken at Axminster by AE West. So this fits very well with the 1947-55 date range I can scan and post the photo here for historical reference and personal research if required?
  5. So livery traffic date would be 1947 - 1955 or thereabouts? One wonders what the wagon would have looked like back in 1925 when new!
  6. Evening. Just taken delivery of two of the Shell/B.P. tank wagons 1061 I have to say they are lovely and very accurate. I don't understand the 10/12t idea, while these existed the 14t version way out numberted them. They only slight issue I have is the inclusion of SM in front of the number on the manhole sides. Surely, this only happened once tanks were anonymised after being pooled during the war to indicate the original owner? But that said the livery looks to be a narrow 1939-1942 to me with the tank being built in 1925. Truly stunning
  7. Hi I know it's been out some while but I just got one of these. Lovely runner. There are two glazing inserts included, do these fit from inside out or outside in please?
  8. Good morning, my ZK-MG arrived today and initially I am impressed. The settings are confusing or the online manual I found are at least. 1st setting is duty cycle low, so that gets set to zero, next press is duty cycle high, so I set that to 80% (speed control) Next press is frequency, well a lower frequency gives better control but with horrid noise so my compromise is 12K. Then when you press again you get L00 then H80 which I assume is duty cycle again, then F12 then back to L00. Is there a display brightness setting?
  9. Hi, can anyone help me with scans from two magazines please? Modellers Backtrack Number 3 (August/September 1991) and No 4 Oct/Nov 1991. I understand there is an article by Peter Fidczuk about 16 ton mineral wagons which would be a great help to me. Kind regards Mike
  10. Question, does anyone use Gaugemaster Feedback controllers and if so can you put it on a scope and share the waveform you see please?
  11. Wow that is really not too bad, a bit sharp at 10% but almost proper square wave later, noise levels could be better but for the money not bad at all, thanks
  12. Couple of questions, do we have a wave form picture for the ZD controller output please? For good motor control under PWM the output should be a very clean square wave.
  13. Oh great info thanks very much. So I can say with some confidence that these wagons were built at Ashford, during WW2 for the LNER and are shown here after BR took them over?

  15. Great stuff thanks both, yes that looks very like them Paul. So for the models a build date of mid 1940s and at Ashford would be a fair assessment?
  16. Hi I've looked through my books and a couple of online databases seeking more information about E312409 five plank open wooden bodied wagon. My copy of the first half million suggests "Wagons 312409 to 312411 lot 3430 built by Teesside Bridge and Engineering ltd. Total built 500. However I am not sure if the 'E' prefix matters? I am after build date. I have a suspicion they might have ended up as Clay Hoods later. Can anyone help please? (image from Hattons)
  17. OK thanks, interesting you can vary the frequency. Only way to partly protect more sensitive motors is to reduce the voltage input. Are you able to try 7VDC and see how it does?

  19. Glad it helped, I think it's the case that models and motors have changed since the HM2000 was designed. If you stuck with older stuff there would 'probably' be no issues at all. Let us know if you decided to get a Morley or Gaugemaster.
  20. Hi, I feel your motor failures will be as a direct result of the HM2000. This uses PWM and a small amount of feedback that will on long runs overheat the motors and cause issues. It can also fry electronic components. The very best option for you would be a Morley 4 track control crawler, really flexible with hand held units and point CDU built in. The crawler option means you can run locos at a crawl. Of course there is the Gaugemaster versions, higher cost but backed by a lifetime warranty. None of these controllers will harm your motors or any of the components within the locos. You may find this helpful The DJ 71 is sadly only capable of around a scale 60 MPH due to the tiny, tiny coreless motor and high gears.
  21. Late to this party but I recently purchased a poor running 2004 Princess, she goes like a dream now. Also have two streamlined ones, iconic locos.
