  3. We’re staying in a lodge by the side of a small lake On the water are the usual mallards, plus coots and moorhens. Then this chap pitches up… steve
  4. Not trying to be awkward, but don’t we have a dedicated Land Rover (& associated vehicles) thread already? steve
  5. I hate Jack Russells with a passion. Vicious, yapping things. One frightened my granddaughter to hysteria this morning chasing her down the street. She’s scared of all dogs at any time but this thing was the worst. If I had caught it I would have kicked it’s teeth in, if I had a gun I would have shot it dead. steve
  6. Is he mentally unstable, merely a total prat or just extracting the urine? steve
  7. Not seen one of these for a while. Wasn’t there a racing series for them once upon a time? steve
  8. With you on Avengers. I’ve had two, one of them was my first car. Would love a Tiger or even a 2dr GT if circumstances could permit. steve
  9. That blue saloon/sedan is surely a “Coffin Nose” Cord.?https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cord_810/812 I would have gone for the Volvo Cabriolet or the mean black Plymouth. steve

They always leave that little green bit that looks like a bean. Must taste bad. steve
  11. I see misogyny is (sadly) alive and well… steve
  12. Status Quo, Milton Keynes Bowl, 1984. Took me nearly 2 hours to find my Escort Estate after the gig ended. Couldn’t remember which car park it was in… steve
  13. If that was my car, the next person to park will leave their car right next to it. It happens to me all time! For heaven’s sake, why do they do that?!?!? steve
  14. Reading through this thread reminds me of the two occasions I was lucky enough to visit Canada. The first was doing an organised Coast to Coast railway trip in the early 2000s with a Rocky Mountaineer add on. The second was a fortnight’s holiday in Victoria, BC a few years later. The Island is one of my favourite places in the world. Doubt we’ll ever get back there as Mrs steve won’t set foot on a ‘Big Bird In The Sky’ ever again. We did The Malahat twice. Once to Duncan (Mrs steve’s maiden name) on the C2C trip and all the way to Courtney during the Victoria trip. The Conductor on that one let me sit in the back cab of the Budd RDC on the return journey when he realised I was an enthusiast. I will try and dig out some of my photos. steve
  15. Some nice motors, especially the Tiger. Would have like to have seen more of the red Minor either top chop if possible. steve.
  16. That is absolutely ******* amazing! It had me in tears and goosebumps as it touched something deep inside me. The clicking of those bones sent shivers down my spine. steve
  17. I see Jim Smith-Wright had been making good progress on his layout… steve
  18. As a young teenager I was fascinated by German steam locos, helped by the acquisition (I can’t remember how) of a Märklin catalogue. I desperately wanted one of those huge engines with their multitude of red wheels. It never happened and life moved on… Fast forward to last night and a meeting of the East Riding Finescale Group. Rippers had been asked to sell off a very large collection of mainly German but also Austrian and Swiss, steam and electric locos. After helping in sorting and testing some of them, my old longing returned! Resisting the enormous 2-10-0 tender as too big I fell eventually for this beauty. Now I’ve got to find a use for it! At least it can partner my V36… Are any preserved? steve

They usually wait until you have bought a large supply of what seems to be their favourite food and then they refuse to touch it. steve
  20. Either cab variant would make an interesting 3D print for an unusual model. Plenty of donor locos available. steve
