  1. There is a photo in " Class 40s at work" of 40127 at Llandudno. Also inthe photo are three other class 40s. One with disc headcode, one split box and one full headcode. Four different headcodes in one photo. I`m afraid I no longer have the book so I can`t give the loco numbers.
  2. On page 8 of "The Power of the Hymeks" by John Vaughan, there is a photo of Hymek D7046. Taken on 23rd July 1962, at Derby Midland in undercoat on 1T46, a test train from Gorton Works. The livery doesn`t appear to be red primer, probably grey and very patchy as well. The caption states that all Hymeks were tested on this train, it doesn`t mention if they were all in undercoat though.
  3. I`ve just watched the new TVP DVD. The footage shows 70013 Oliver Cromwell, with three wagons and a brake van. It was filmed towards the end of steam. I never thought that would be the loco on the branch freight. Definitely worth the money, it has some very interesting footage.
  4. Dead men tell no tales, Motorhead
  5. Man on the silver mountain, Rainbow
  6. The photo was taken at the Teddy Bears Picnic, celebrating 50 years of the class 14. Held at the East Lancashire Railway in July 2014. Great footage on you tube.
  7. Dark chest of wonders, Nightwish
  8. Way of the rocker, Cockney Rejects
  9. Should that not be 50 shades or colour
  10. Diamonds and rust, Judas Priest
  11. Is the red-orange thing a reflection of an illuminated sign for the buffet, they were red with yellow writing. It could even be behind the train, seen through the windows.
  12. What`s pendant mode? Or am I being pedantic?
  13. I`ve searched Google images to see if any photos of Maiden Lane with overhead wires exist. One photo, which appears to have been taken from the box, shows a class 86 entering York Way freightliner terminal. The photo had a link to a Facebook page entitled "The British Rail Story". I scrolled down and found a small collection of photos, taken by a Mike Townsend, all taken around Maiden Lane. It would appear, from the photos, that the wires went as far as the freightliner terminal. Some of the photos appear to have been taken before the wires went up, some with the wires up and some later ones suggesting the wires may have been removed prior to the closure of the terminal in 1971. A lot of container traffic had transferred to Willesden FLT. I wonder if York Way was served by a local trip working before complete closure.
  14. The bridge over the Midland main line had quite a few sidings on it, as well as the North London lines. Could it be that train has just past through Camden Road station and is crossing Baynes St, seen below the first two vans and the loco is just on the bridge over St Pancras Way? Where would the train be going? Normally freights to and from the SR to Brent or Cricklewood would go via the Dudding Hill line to Acton Wells Junction. I wondered if it had been diverted?
  15. Railway Modeller for November 1980 had Melton Constable as Plan of the Month.
  16. Have you tried Melton Constable? Admittedly it was all run by the Midland & Great Northern Joint Railway, but the track plan may be suitable and with a little modellers licence, it could be different companies. There were also plenty of rail connected facilities, including goods yard, engine shed and works. And, if you look on a map it`s definitely in the middle of nowhere.
  17. The 37 was painted with a type of paint that could be washed off. ISTR it didn`t. The loco was moved from Gateshead to Stratford for a repaint.
  18. I watched that episode of " Some mothers do `av `em" the other day. Frank is taking his driving test again. Later on they end up stranded on top of the Swale bridge on the Isle of Sheppey. Some driving test that is.
  19. Could I have them please. What would you want for postage?
