  1. Weren't the 411/9 3-CEP 1401-06 in NSE?
  2. Is it prudent to remove the caps on the first run stock then? I've two power cars, but have only run briefly.
  3. Another thought on the CEP(R) and TEP, if they are using the existing motor, it's going to be very visible in the DMBSO. Hornby's VEP MBSO is going to look good in comparison! (smaller windows)
  4. Agreed! Not happy about that risk, so I think I'll sit it out
  5. I think at the price it should really have the improved inter car connectors a La 4TC, but the video shows the CEP drawbar arrangement. Not great at the price!
  6. Fair points, my concern is IF I take the plunge on a TEP @£500+ (as I would like one to go with my CEPs), I'm not going to be happy if it turns up later in a sale at £350ish?? (as the BEP has done)
  7. I’ve installed 17 TXS now. I’ve changed the CV on these way more than the other 50+ DCC locos I’ve got. Can’t wait for the dongle, as I find the App a much more convenient method of control.
  8. Ah, I fitted into the old Lima Porterbrook Class 55 body on a new Hornby Deltic chassis. Sorry cant help.....
  9. Just downloaded the updated iSO App and three class 55, for a Limby Deltic and two Heljan Class 23. All sounds loaded 1st time! And the 55 sounds are good. Well pleased.
  10. I would have thought being a TXS can just have the sounds uploaded? Or I guess it comes with Class 66 sounds plus the Anthem? Surely..
  11. Well yes, no substitute for good/clean track. But the TXS reboot time appears to be longer, so past experience is not necessarily relevant. I’ve fitted them more as additional fallback, rather then relying on them.
  12. 11th fitted to a Heljan Class 23 Baby Deltic (waiting for the Deltic sounds - CL31 installed temp) Straight forward, once you get into the s___ing thing! Buffers have to be removed and buffer beam exploded everywhere! Found all the pieces - luckily. TXS chip happy in the centerline on top of the board and fitted the smallest speaker box, also in the centre of the board. Sounds surprisingly good to me, I thought there would be much bass than the bigger box but sounds fine. Absolutely nowhere for the Stay Alive, so removed the trailing cab interior and stuck to the roof (all my Diesels run detailed at one end other end Hunt coupling). Excellent motor control from the standard setting! Impressive!
  13. Yep, DJ 71 is easy-just hopelessly slow! In the Horny 71 I tried above the board first-having removed the pan spring collector, but still not enough room. It really is incredibly tight. Hence resorting to under the board which JUST fits.
  14. I’d did the same! Except I managed to get the chip under the board, on top of the (insulated) motor. Not ideal I guess, but wanted to retain the interior booster detail. Did you manage to get the booster inside as well? I also got the stay alive inside the (trailing) cab, which you can’t really see. Surprise! The Hornby class 71 has cab lighting which is only accessible on DCC!
  15. What I have observed is that the power bank needs a short time to charge up. I understand it only charges once in motion. So where you have a loco with poor pick up (e.g. Dapol 1st run class 73) I hold the loco stationary under full power for a few seconds (to charge) then release. It then performs well. I’ve installed a power bank in all 10 I’ve done so far, got another 30+ to do, and it makes a massive difference, especially as the BLE reboot does take approx 15secs
  16. Ive 4 old and 4 new Dapol Class 73s. 1st circuit board, motor runs the wrong way on DCC (well TXS anyway). I played with CVs but ended up just transposing the motor connection wires on the PCB, actually easy, 5 mins. I've fitted a stay alive to all the TXS, has made a massive improvement in the running qualities. I find they need 5 mins to "warm up", maybe the grease gets mobile - then they are OK (ish) !
  17. Today's fitting: DJ Models class 71. TXS chip is actually smaller than the blanking plug! Works well, except painfully slow - though same speed on DC. I've auto calibrated on CV149, but not much improvement. Oh and sorry to annoy, but sounds downloaded first time without issue. Just on my experience (9 fitted now) it's all about the power cycle (checking when the chips is on/off line with the app BLE colour).
  18. Todays Update, just squeezed 8 pin into Cl 71, Im about 1mm short getting body closed! So WIP, but the speaker fits nicely in the battery box underneath - (although you have to take the motor out to feed the speaker wire through the chassis), loaded 08 sounds just to test, but after a few mins went super quiet. So reloaded Cl73 and back to good volume level. The speaker box, whilst important, still sounds ok with the smallest box, which fits like a glove in the 71. Obvs, I'm waiting for the 71 sounds, hopefully later this year. Loaded Cl 66 into RR 66793, slight buzz from the sugar cube, changed it for a megabass one, wow, sounds really good and loud bass now. The sound file is very good! So might be worth checking your happy with the supplied speaker before full installation. It's defo WAY better than the TTS speaker, but can still be improved, there's a lot of detail in these new sounds files!
  19. Sorry to hear about your loading issues. I’m using a Hornby Elite to provide power. I’m using main output., not a programming track.
  20. I’ve done 7 now. Had one that I had to install the sound file 4 times but got there in the end. What I have noticed is the power cycle is super important. And it’s easy if you look at the app, by the decoder ID it’s either red (not connected) or blue (on line) make sure the power cycle is fully complete at each stage. Since I checked (each stage) I haven’t had a problem. Just done a trial fit Hornby Class 71 with 8 pin TXS, power bank and speaker. Was TIGHT! No mods or removal of the interior. I’ll do pics and a guide shortly. Not for the faint hearted!
