  1. Just to stir the pot a bit, I believe Prestwins were used on Delabole slate traffic too! An article about a brakevan trip to Wadebridge and Wenford Bridge by the CURC in the Raiway Magazine shows one in the train formation. Nothing to do with Presflos but maybe pertinent to the thread Disgusting of Market Harborough
  2. I'll bring me 31 and a few brake vans. Think the denizens of Glasgow are getting short-changed......that was its last show with me 6 years ago! Disgusting of Market Harborough
  3. Sorry chaps, but as the owner of said vehicle I can tell you its a kit, not a Lesney repaint. Trouble is I built it 14 years ago, because I wanted a small pick up truck for the coal merchant and the Oxford and Corgi ranges werent really establised at that time. Don't ask whos kit it was though!! Disgusting of Market Harborough
  4. Any ideas when the Southern Region packed up using the overhead electrification in their goods yards on the Eastern section, in particular Tovil yard at Maidstone. I'm aware the Class 71s were scrapped in the mid-70s and these were obviously the last things to use the overhead. I'm just after a more specific date than 'sometime in the 70s!' Thanks Disgusting of Market Harborough
  5. Looks like I've started something with the Silksworth thread. ...i believe from my research into the Wisbech and Upwell twins that the first 10 (2201-2210?) had smaller wheels.... Disgusting of Market Harborough
  6. Well, i enjoyed seeing your latest masterpiece immensly Stu. Personally I would build a totally new fy- that one has too much potential as a stand alone mirco layout! Disgusting of Market Harborough
  7. So much for retirement eh Ken....... Disgusting of Market Harborough
  8. Who said anything about it being a model railway exhibition Mike? Disgusting of Market Harborough
  9. DEMOs Phil Eames Dicky Dockerill/John Emerson Mick Bryan Phil Sutton Kevin Dickerson As you can see, a goodly smorsgabord for your three quid! Just a few points- I don't think Richard has any gateaux in the catering plan so dont start banging on if there isnt any. Friday Bridge wont be there, because we can't fit it in! Sadly, due to one thing or another, we havent been able to represent the EM and O gsuge fraternity this year, but next year we will. It is a diesel orientated show, so don't get uptight if theres no kettle layouts. Oh and there wont be any road signage for the show. See you all tomorrow Disgusting of Market Harborough
  10. Weren't double headed 04s used on traffic to Silksworth Colliery near Sunderland back in the day? Disgusting of Market Harborough
  11. Bloody hell Colin, we'll have to mind our Ps and Qs now! Welcome aboard! Disgusting of Market Harborough
  12. Not as far as I know Luke. Don't think Colin bothers with RM Web too much!! Disgusting of Market Harborough
  13. As its getting closer, here are the obligatory directions to our little knees-up. Just looking back through the thread and I see we haven't actually put the location itself up yet! its the usual venue- St Nicholas Church Hall Rectory Lane Little Bowden Market Harborough LE16 8AS Directions to Wrec-Rail By Road From A14 junction 2 Exit junction 2 and follow the A508 to Market Harborough, passing through Kelmarsh and Great Oxendon en route. Drop down the hill into Market Harborough, crossing straight over the roundabout as you enter the town. Just past the Jet garage on your right is a right turn (Signed Braybrooke). Take this right turn, passing Buildbase on your left. After 100 yards take the left turn into Scotland Street. Pass along Scotland Street, past the primary school on the left and at the next junction bear left. The venue will come up on your right hand side. From the A6 (both directions) and A427 Follow your respective route until you reach the roundabout where the A427 joins the A6 Market Harborough by-pass (2nd roundabout if you’re coming from Leicester; at the bottom of a hill if you’re coming in from the other routes). At the roundabout take the A4304 towards the town centre, passing across the Tesco roundabout, until you reach the first set of traffic lights. At the lights turn left into Gores Lane. Follow Gores Lane to the T junction at the end then turn right into Kettering Road. Pass under the railway bridge then turn left into Rectory Lane after the Little Bowden Bowls Club and before the Cherry Tree public house. Follow Rectory Lane past the church on your left and you will see the venue on your left. From the A4304 (junction 20 of the M1) Follow the A4304 from J20 passing through Walcote, North Kilworth, Husbands Bosworth, Theddingworth and Lubenham. Drop down the hill into Market Harborough. At the roundabout at the bottom of the hill turn right (signed East Farndon) into Welland Park Road. Follow Welland Park Road, crossing over the next roundabout, to its end. At the traffic lights turn right into Northampton Road. Follow Northampton Road, past the Indian Restaurant on the left, until you reach a left turn (Signed Braybrooke). Then follow directions as per from the A14. By Rail Leave the station; pass across the forecourt and down the steps to the street. Cross the main road and take the wooden bridge into the Lidl supermarket car park. Cross the car park onto the roundabout and take the first exit. Follow this road round a corner until the Cherry Tree public house comes up on your right. Take the footpath (Church Lane) that runs alongside the pub, through the churchyard, and out into Rectory Lane. The venue will be in front of you. Also sadly Bob Bateman and Sandiacre will not now be able to attend. Coming off the substitutes will be Two Sisters Farm., a maginificently modelled piece of eccentricity from Peter Marshall. Disgusting of Market Harborough
  14. Another one of Colins classics Luke. Look out for his latest effort, Three Holes, debuting at Southwold I believe! Disgusting of Market Harborough
  15. Knowing Colin and Margy reasonably well, I think you probaby have the track plan of one of his other layouts there Jim. I'm sure Ledsham Street only has a sector plate to the left IIRC. Disgusting of Market Harborough
  16. Stone trains to West Worthing, a working fron Fratton to Hove and back, and possibly diverted Chichester to Norwood Junction trains off the top of my head. Oh and traffic to Beeding cement works too..... Disgusting of Market Harborough
  17. I seem to remember when rovering around that neck of the woods in about 1977, that Galley Hill also had a coal yard. Thought at the time that it would be an interesting place to model...... Disgusting of Market Harborough
  18. Even Mr York to TAKE the controller. ....... Disgusting of Market Harborough
  19. Good thing you had someone on the controller who knew what he was doing Steve!... Enjoyed your trainset and enjoyed the day. Disgusting of Market Harborough
  20. Hold the presses.......further seeking has found a pic of 97804 and there are definitely 2 sand wagons in the shot! Sounds like a Red Panda kit moment to me... Disgusting of Market Harborough
  21. WBFTWI matey! Just been goggling Reading Signal Works- on one pic of number 20, it looks suspiciously like a sand wagon behind it! Lord alone knows what its doing there. My uneducated guess would be its an internal user, possibly for carting scrap around the site, like the other 2 opens on your earlier pic....... Any pics of yesterday's travails? Disgusting of Market Harborough
  22. Must add my name to that litany of herberts complementing Nick and Co on an excellent day. Richard and myself were discussing the day on the way home, and the general conclusion was top notch! Pleased to pick up the unofficial 'smallest layout in show" award, following on from our success in the same category at Glasgow too! My favourites on the day- Lyddlow Hill, Lymebrook, Mayfield, .....in fact there wasnt a bad layout there! The bar has been set for WrecRail IV!, Disgusting of Market Harborough ps As some will know, Canons Lane is a shunting puzzle. Our esteemed leader failed dismally on it, some excuse about having to go to the pub........
  23. Anything, as long as its yellow Mick!...... Glad you're sorted. Disgusting of Market Harborough
  24. Well, it was a pleasure to have Fried Egg Bridge next to you all weekend chaps. For what its worth I thought Fryers Lane was the best in show...... Disgusting of Market Harborough
  25. Must admit, and Cath made this point too, that Stu Davies put in some sterling work gophering on Saturday! Well done mate! And well done to the organising team. Another excellent and convivial weekend! Disgusting of Market Harborough
