I want to know who's flushing all this fat down the toilet. I've never seen a block of lard bobbing in a toilet bowl.

  2. The word is 'temporarily', not 'temporally'!!! The BBC News announcers should know better!

What annoys me is the inconsistency, if they are pluralising Stadium as Stadiums then why don't they pluralise bactrium as bactirums. Stadium, stadia. Bacterium, Bacteria. The BBC could at least be consistent!

  3. The next irritating expression that I will be banning by Special Decree is the phrase to 'rock up', as in meaning 'to arrive somewhere'.

The scratch was one thing, but the post scratch finger sniff really added an additional dimension to the performance.

  5. One does not realize the time and effort that goes into repairing, restoring and operating a full sized train until you have been a part of it

It's not too different for TOCS and FOCS running old BR kit. Frequently we'd having to source spares from places like Harry Needle, refurb old parts, as well as getting parts especially manufactured as the Unipart spares run out.

  6. I really do wish people would learn to use the privacy settings on facebook properly, it'd save a lot of heartache!

To quote Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO, on his opinion of people who use his service, "They trust me, dumb f-words." It's a data mining operation which sells your personal data to advertising firms.I can't understand why anyone uses it.

  7. Actually just tried to type 'trjc' on realtime trains. I'm tired, ok? :-D a train lookup feature like that would make it easier to use though!

At least it doesn't care whether it's upper or lower case, unlike IMACS! Plus you don't get frequent phone calls from ATOS telling you you've run a report that has crashed the whole system!

  9. Saw SPECTRE last night. Amazing film, certainly worth the wait.

My issue with the film is that it's half psychological thriller half classic Bond cheese. I don't mind either genre, but together they just detract from each other. There were also too many obvious product placements, which is doubly annoying because they are mostly products I can't afford.

That line is "Tiffany twisted", which is a reference to Tiffany & Co, a New York jewellery store. ;-)

  12. Realising I have too many models for layouts that won't happen anytime soon. Swiss H0m has gone to a new home, now eBaying my beloved Irish N gauge 141 :-(

  13. A problem occurred with this web page so it was reloaded. If I read that one more time from the fruit based piece of junk I'm typing this on then it might take a one way trip out the window. I'm glad I don't have to put up with this mess on a phone. Time to look for a new Windows or Android tablet I think

  14. Quick question ; Can anyone tell me the width of the top of Code 100 rail, please? I can possibly source some brass sheave wheels, but the groove is only 1.5 mm - will they fit ? Thanks all.

Digital calipers say 1.1mm wide, 1.65mm depth to chair. Hope this helps?

If the positive energy/mass of the universe is cancelled out by the negative energy of the gravitational field of the Universe, then the net energy in the Universe is zero. If zero energy is required to create this Universe, then it is indeed possible to have "something" from nothing.

The majority of "grown up" television is pitched at a 12 year old level as this was the level which was found to be most inclusive to the "grown up" demographic. I'm joking either!

  18. Well that went well. I set a application to a TOC and recived a response at 14:39 today. That was a quick read through my CV, I personal feel that the company in question rejected my application due to the fact that i have a disability (dyslexia).Feeling pissed off.

You'll find these days that it all goes through Human Remains and they have to implement the equality and diversity policy and take a mix of gender, ethnicity and ability through to the next stage. The manager who will actually appoint someone to the position probably never saw your CV. I have found the most difficult aspect of getting a job is getting past the initial HR hoops. Chin up and keep trying!

  19. Class 66 doors: slam, slam, clunk, slam, bang, clunk, slam. Still won't shut. Class 59: shuts first time. Sums up the difference between them nicely!

    1. Rods_of_Revolution

      Rods_of_Revolution

The Class 66 has two door handles so you have to shut it once for each handle! The 59 is the classic one handle one shut design.

Is that a Class 66 to run on the layout or a garden structure to house a layout?

  22. is back from Heathrow Terminal 2, which used to be Terminal 3, but is now Terminal 2. I am now confused.

    1. Rods_of_Revolution

      Rods_of_Revolution

Terminal 3 is still there as it always has been, some gates were upgraded to take the A380s and the check in area tarted up a few years ago.

What you want is the double fermented Kind Cobra! It's actually a really nice beer, though it is 8%, comes in a 750ml bottle and costs the best part of a tenner!
