  1. Bedford rascal is the first (and only) 2 valve single cam Suzuki engine I have controlled, all other were 2 stroke or TSCC
  2. Only driven the engine in a Sunbeam, that was very soon replaced with an ex Avenger 1.6, those engines were greatly underrated, sold the original engine to a trike bulder for what the 1.6 cost me.
  3. Well a friend would be upset as his friend got kicked out. She borrowed his car once for a TV segment. And yes he was on TV in the background. All I know about Coronation Street is that Lister used to work there as did Captain Voorhese.
  4. Prefer it on Friday, so watched this morning. Was worried about disk space as well. Recorded on +1 as SD and with 3% of HDD on Strictly need to be careful.
  5. Neary 6 years ago I had a nasty smash, head on in front of me and one of the cars missiled into the side of mine. Newish BMW wrecked, with a shattered front wheel I suspect shattered before the accident. A Peugeot I think, no front end, finished off on my B pillar. My Omega saloon, smashed in side would cost £3000 to repair, anyway I drove home. About 12 years old. I had it for 8.
  6. I would go with Bath Road allocated 31/4s and SR 33/0. SR sets were about 5 vehicles, usually Mark 1 with odd Mk 2 FK, all ETH fitted. If not closed I would not have been surprised if the 123s did not end up working it, but 119 120 would have.
  7. No one mentioned Vulcan, I have an 04 as a random preserved one. A1 Hunslet 05 stalled as coupling rods are difficult. And I have lost a couple of bits. This would go on a diorama but I need some London Undergrouind EMUs, luckily thr current owners sent me some nice close ups of the bonnet. Edge family (Michael told me the story) PWM650, stalled due to a lot of DIY in the house.
  8. It will be running with detailed Lima Hornby and some Bachmann blue Diesels, quite a few DMUs, taking turns with a few other steam locos hauling a cut and shut rake of Triang mark 1s converted into TSOs with Replica windows, painted in WR chocolate and cream. I was just annoyed it was not ready for the Gloucester Swindon runs but Clun Castle was an excellent runner. Nothing better to bring back memories of the WR in 80s than lots of Blue and Grey with Green Chocolate and Cream. Wagons are 90% kits.
  9. My favourite 9F is Evening Star always wanted one. Managed to save up Christmas and Birthday money to buy a Bachmann (wages go on house and boring stuff like food). Just because I bought it does it mean it means less to me than my kit stuff. You can like all sources, RTR, converted RTR, kit, scratch. They are all mine.
  10. Being able to out accelerate solo cars was usefull, lots of DC and MWay. Didn't do holding up but got held up loads of times.
  11. I used to tow a tin tent with a tuned 2.6 V6 Omega, I did not hold people up
  12. X Type - Mondeo based, OK but boring, key fobs fail regularly - repaired hundreds Big LR products, currently have a Discovery, a Diesel model knocking out V8 power levels. Capris - OK, knew a few owners, had a fun TLGP Avenger 1600 Estate vs 2.0 Capri, lovely looking cars, Crude chassis, engines not exactly good power for size, but again the styling. Princess - yuk 240 Nice old tanks, bit crude but can drp interesting engines in. Omegas - loved them, had 4, suddenly disappeared around 7 to 8 years ago, hit by scrappage scheme and refusals to repair, comfy, fast, good looking, SAFE, the other 2 cars were wrecked I drove home. But B pillar was shot. Had a lucky escape when trying to find another (failed), by a VX dealer trying to sell me plastic crap. Interceptor, I would have loved one on LPG Stag, lovely looking interesting engine with build quality issues (design was good) Triumph - been in 2500PI Estate quite nice.
  13. The rule of old classics. Almost all are upper spec models. Seen it happen with Sunbeam hatches, a good 1.0 shell would soon be found with an engine, either a complete shell swap with a rusty Lotus or Ti, Or even the ocasional chuck running gear of a rotted Avenger in it. I had my Sunbeam around 6 years was a 1.0 for 4 months, a > 110hp 1600 for 5 years (in between standard 1600) Car £100, all the bits on it nearer £1000
  14. I almost got into a fight with someone calling my then Sunbeam a Horriblizon. Last decent Talbot was the run out Avenger Estate (great cars)
  15. Exhaust pollutants Been getting worse recently so bad I started investigating if my car was was putting exhaust fumes directly into the cabin. But no, it is fine, drove a lot at the weekend I cleared it no coughs no fumes in cabin all OK. Lots of other cars, all classics, no problem. Commute, problem. The problem was with modern Diesels, the ones which should have lots of cleaning kit but don't. I think I am coughing at either oxides of nitrogen or particulates. Smells to me a bit like a gas heater. Older Diesels seem to be fine. Petrols fine, but anything up to say a decade is bad.
  16. I noticed that the average Antipodian window is a lot less insulated. But they are getting better. Argon fill is rare, solar control glass is less than a tenth of the normal clear clear units. I have noticed 5mm thick glass is common. Most units sold in UK are solar controlled ot some form or another, and are often gas filled to improve insulation.
  17. Looks like a mix of Kirk body and DC Kits floor.
  18. So would the DMU be both buffer stools or 4 of one and 8 of other? Need to work out diameter now!
  19. I am ready for the DMU ones, will fit them to my 119. Thanks Martin
  20. Celebrities. I know people who knew them but never direct, an Uncle met all the Princes and confirmed a common opinion of the middle brother. My dad PDIed a car for a well known racing driver called Nigel, I once chatted to the uncle of an England rugby player who was driving a 1960s singers car. Railway wise I suppose .David Shepherd is the most well known.
  21. it is one of my bucket list places. Got a picture of the children standing near a road sign on the main road.
  22. Not bothered by the buses, more interested in the village. Wouldn't mind a drive on the plain anyway, the tracks look fun.
  23. I remember them cleaner than that. But that was in early 80s
  24. 03 382 is an ex Bristol Bath Road loco and I have seen it there. I have the Mainline model of it.
