  1. Just a thought Chris but given the mags general advice on many models including the N Dapol Halls to buy from a shop that will test run it, should not Kernow be test running them before despatch.
  2. If I am buying local the last thing I would use is Paypal - the seller is far happier with cash as they do not have to pay Paypals fee and anyone insisting on Paypal for a collected item probably needs ignoring. I do make a point of collecting from the sellers home and everyone I have enountered has been happy to demonstrate the item or give contact details (even their work place) should problems arise.
  3. The ebay address ends bar the last three characters with bad which is an apt description for this price on a Premium City of Truro from a seller in York who is using the NRMs photo and it is still in stock at the NRM 40 quid cheaper.
  4. Could have had the item sent to a relative in the UK - that happened with an item I sold to someone in Spain, I was asked to post it to an address in Wales.
  5. Thats because Central Government has required them to include policies in their latest local plan document on achieving sustainable development and those who have adopted such a document then have to comply with it. Its just another example of Central Government using one arm or another of Local Goverment to get what it whats with the blame (by developers and architects in this instance) going on Local Goverment and in this instance the planners.
  6. And the Bachamnn split chassis locos
  7. Thats more simply being a good neighbour - the legislation is as I pointed out and if they were so minded they could plonk a 50m mast straight outside someones back door and no one could do anything about it.
  8. Network Rail do not need planning permission for the GSMR masts so the extend of designs will be very limited compared to mobile phone masts and most likely just variations in height - this is the legislation that NR benefit from.
  9. I've found Evo-Stik Serious Glue to work on a number of awkward plastics icluding those used by Sanda Kan
  10. Time moves on, its 40 years old since Triang collapsed. If only we still had the model shops we had then with the huge range of bits and pieces that they all seemed to stock.
  11. And what is this meant to be?
  12. Looking at Kernows web site the list price for the Heljan 33s is upto £89, the Hymeks have gone to £99 so two improved 33s for £199 is not partially bad pricing for a limited edition and if Heljan were to release the improved 33/0 then the list price would be most likely £99 or more; its just that people have got use to not paying the list price or anywhere near it from the box shifters. It is the pairings that is the problem ; I would be tempted by a plain green one and a green one with a half yellow end but not two the same livery.
  13. Is the tooling exclusive to Rail Exclusive or will it be like the Modelzone Bachmann TPOs and become a general release from Heljan.
  14. Good point Andy, I was musing over it when I noticed this thread as I can see (going off topic) problems arising at shows - looks like a need for pass outs and directions to the nearest cashpoint will be an essential.
  15. The cheque thing could be risky for them as the cheque guarantee scheme ends on 30 June and thereafter anyone accepting a dud cheque will be out of pocket.
  16. Some Dapol production is but a lot is carried out in China - they lost some Britannias when the DHL plane flying them to the UK crashed. To sum up the original question Bachmann - Kader (and owned by them) Hornby - Sanda Kan (who are now owned by Kader) and another unknown manufacturer Dapol - unknown
  17. Noticed a couple of Lyddle End items which had been bid up to around £36 and £46 when I looked last night so it seems as if the barking mad Skaledale prices are getting down to the smaller versions.
  18. You probably would not have been all that happy even if you could - the sheer amount of duff locos I had from them when I lived in Nottingham, a good two decades plus back, that I began to think on exiting the shop with a new purchase I should just turn round and take it back before wasting a trip home and back. Beecrofts as well (Market stall and shop right before the bus station doors in Broad Marsh). Seem to recall Zodiac having a store in Broad Marsh for while. Also going way back in time the Co-Op and dear old Pearsons (recall the admirmal like lift attendent) departmental stores that had reasonably decent model sections. They did open up a small store right in the city centre just off King Street for a while -"Beattie bashing" they described it as.
  19. and ebay is only used by them as additional outlet so perhaps all the TMC stuff should go into a subject on its own separate from this one.
  20. Its a free listing weekend so expect plenty of stuff with crazy prices
  21. According to Kernow its delayed to 2011. The selling ebayer does not seem to have sold anything model rail wise before.
  22. You can easilly make up a cranked Kadee using an NEM Kadee and parts of a NEM tension lock. (Photos details are on the old forum)
  23. Theres a video of the Hornby L1 in action at http://www.model-railways-live.co.uk/News/See_the_new_L1_from_Hornby_in_action!/ which around half way through shows the pony wheels tracking all over the place, just ripe for derailing although it does not.
