  1. Those photos are dated correctly as the link opened 4 May 1974.
  2. The coupling should just pull out of the NEM mount without having to remove the air reservoir. On mine I have fitted kadee 19s and trimmed the bufferbeam add on plates to fit around it, the air reservoir is a useful gluing point for that end, at the other I have tacked ut to the kadee/nem mount. Obviously means no horizontal movement but with the swivel head on the kadee and 2ft radius min curves it should be okay.
  3. And therein lies one of the mysteries of Hornbys 2014 new releases, no further vrersions announced. You can see what will happen for 2015, more of these and the rod version as well and numerous people getting mixed up over which release is which version.
  4. Having acquired a red one I would say it is painted and the apparent unpainted appearance many have commented on is down to red paint often having a pretty translucent element, as I commented in the thread on the new CCT the same complaint was made in the early 1980s over a red ICI van that Mainline marketed which was in fact painted.
  5. The Great Gift Offers disappeared off the web site a few weeks ago, there are new offers, usually every Monday and Thursday and at present its those for today, Thursday and next Monday showing. Todays will get replaced by those for a week on Thursday in a few days time and so on.
  6. Basically reflects Hornbys pricing, R4534A was to have been released in late 2012, and R4534B in 2013 but are both still awaited along with 2014s R4534C and the prices are largely not updated.
  7. Possibly more like 12 months, they had them around the same time in 2012 and I do not recall them since. Offers do however differ in some stores, with the larger ones having more stuff. Manuals etc are available on Lidls web site, note there are a number of very similar cabinets http://www.lidl-service.com/cps/rde/SID-0E7AB306-D85B377C/lsp/hs.xsl/searchpage.html?action=search&searchType=search1&searchText=display+cabinet&x=27&y=-226
  8. Agreed, the point I was making was that the green one had not been released.
  9. 1 large and 8 small ones in Lidl Knaresborough this morning with no reduction in price but in yet another location in store, the third at least, wonder if staff are practising weight lifting!
  10. Thats correct but no one has reported sight of a weathered green Sentinel yet and the Hornby website confirmed its delay into 2014.
  11. The green one is now in the "New for 2014" section of Hornbys web site along with a whole load of other non released items from 2013, 2012, .....Meanwhile on ebay the green ones are apparently in stock and one has been sold!

  13. Hornbys (somewhat simplified, where are the wires etc) service sheet http://www.Hornby.com/filelibrary/download/?FileID=475
  14. Pretty obvious from the Albion Yard review that it will be very simple to hard wire a decoder of choice.
  15. Horsemeat scandal was the reason a number of people started shopping there, and at Aldi. Not because of the horsemeat as such but the realisation that they were using the same suppliers as the "big 4" but charging a lot less for the same stuff.
  16. Another review http://albionyard.wordpress.com/2013/12/27/Hornby-2015-predicitons-and-sentinel-maintenance-101/
  17. Judging by the photos posted here there does not appear a colour match issue - are the bodies unpainted?
  18. I suspect shifting of unsold stock does occur, particularly from the smaller stores to make way from newer offers.
  19. Could still be in store, you cannot buy online anyway and the web site rolls forward to newer "special buys"
  20. If anyone is looking for them and will be passing along the A1 in North Yorks there where stocks of both sizes in the Knaresborough store this morning, the large ones buried under the small ones! The store is on the A59 on the A1 side of the town.
  21. Bought Dad a small one last year for his Eddie Stobart lorries. Certainly I would not describe them as nasty, cheap yes like a lot of stuff in Lidl but equally of pretty good quality. You easily pay twice for most of the stuff they sell elsewhere but that does not seem to sunk into the nations comedians . As for the large cabinet recall someone last year having used it mounted firmly on the floor as a way of getting round strength of wall issues!
  22. The decoder is already available, it would be interesting to know how many have been sold so far! Think I will simply rip out all of the wiring / socket and hard wire a known reliable decoder in place rather than risk the Hornby one given the limitations or incompatibilities of much of their dcc stuff.
  23. What would have Yodel have done if no one was in? For that very reason I placed an order with Model Railways Direct last Thursday evening on the basis that postie would knock on the door on Saturday with it, which he did. It was also slightly cheaper than Hattons.
  24. That applied with Bachmanns first attempt at a 37, I know people who bought it because it was said it was a 37 on the box, they might as well as labelled as Deltic as well then.
