  1. Noted the HS1 - HS2 link but just how many trains are not going to stop at the main London termii. Still looks like it will be case of using the tube/Crossrail to get from HS1 to HS2.
  2. Think the northern Y should be built first - that way the moaning southerners will be wanting it not objecting to it. Also it would give time to rethink the London end and connect HS2 to HS1, a bit silly having separate terminal.
  3. Um.. Used Dapol track cleaner and accessory pack going for far too much..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dapol-TRACK-CLEANER-B800-FITTED-DCC-ACCESSORY-PACK-B803-/250929637311?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3a6c9267bf
  4. Give them time to find it. The positioning sounds okay - I have a feeder pole up the side of a conifer, gives the birds protection from cats on the fence and the smaller birds nip through the conifer as nice walking route to the takeaway.
  5. Frequent visits this week by coal tits (at least 3), a robin, a sparrow (I think), and blackbirds (mr & mrs). Suspect the relative mild Autumn has affected things. Also have a number of magpies which if anything seem to have scared off the wood pigeons rather than the smaller birds
  6. The "Platinum" red-framed version is still available and they seem to have reduced the price of it compared to what they were originally charging http://www.nrmshop.c...o-platinum.html
  7. Just wonder why the website has just told me its 28 June 2004, 17 : 48 Doesn't inspire to venture further
  8. "Used "test run only" NRM City of Truro (one of the original batch) has just sold for £161 - whilst sold out at the NRM in the normal box the "Platinum" edition one is available from the NRM for £156 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250915991016 http://www.nrmshop.co.uk/models/product/276870/city-of-truro-platinum.html
  9. The announcement was part of the next 18 months products Bachmann do each year so hopefully by Sept 2012
  10. Probably more a case of the Chinese factory using the wrong tooling - its happened before.

  12. My twin tuner digi-recoder has two aerial inputs and two aerial outputs, with one of the outputs connected by a special connector to one of the inputs. It only needs one aerial lead in and the output cam be connected to the tv so no splitting of the signal is neccessary. In practise the digi-recorder is only used rarely as i mainly record off Freesat, and as a result I split the signal to go to the main tv and other sets as well as one split to the digi-recorder which is normally switched off as it is very noisy even in stand-by - hint avoid Thomson PVRs.
  13. To minimise signal loss resulting from splitters its best to use the higher quality ones sold with F-plug connectors (as used on satellite boxes) rather than co-axial one. Its easy enough to fit an F-plug to a length of tv aerial cable - they just screw onto it far simpler than a co-axial plug. Also make certain your aerial cables are good quality ones suitable for digital signals (these are thicker than those sold for analogue aerial leads) - not neccessarily expensive, paid £1 a metre recently. If you split your signal using a 2/4/6/8 way signal booster that can cause problems as it can overboost the signal which and the digibox will simply reject too strong channels - if you do need one its best to use one that has variable gain.
  14. Heres a thread on another forum that may be of use http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1539250
  15. Anyone who has bought a limited edition model to sell on ebay is going to need to sell it for at least around 20% more than they paid for it to simply cover the orignal cost and ebay and paypal fees. That is not profiteering.
  16. Afraid not in the East Midlands after about 1984 when they decided not to hold trains if there was another scheduled later. Many times a train would as a result arrive at Derby or Leicester just as the connection left. Then there was the inter-regional issues which would give cause to station announcements of "due to operational issues on the EASTERN REGION this train is xx late"
  17. Looks nasty and rather worrying that a mounting a kerb and then hitting a wall can do that.
  18. Felt sick more than normal listening to managers like Arsene Wenger last night given the weeks events. Are these pampered blinkered individuals completely unaware that they are heros to many of the prats who caused so much damage last week and its time they stood up and admitted the thuggery of their even more so pampered and blinkered players who are so more hero worshipped.
  19. Dapol did announce one in the mid 1980s along with a WD Austerity 2-8-0 but both were quietly dropped
  20. A case of stripping out the existing wiring and hard wire decoders in place then. As anyone actually maanged to find confirmation that it is a Hattons commission ?
  21. Sound like the same error as they did in N gauge where they used finescale back to backs on the B sets and Siphons
  22. Hopefully these OO locos will not be troubled but have noticed a few recent postings on the Yahoo N gauge pages of the Dapol N locos having motors that run very hot to the extent of one B1 having suffered slight melting to its body.
