  1. It works straight out of the box. Don't be "concerned" 😉😂😂 Steve
  2. And a not so fast or beautiful Co-Bo hiding in the APT's shadows? Steve
  3. Then the truth arrives: The post from AS was totally in line with what I thought it would be. Why do some modellers come on here and spout what amounts at best to be exaggerations, the kind of which can do damage to a business trying its best for all of us modellers. I simply don't understand! Steve
  4. Not only that but iTunes then converted the file format into something else. A long time ago I thought "OK I'll give this iPod thing a go", so I converted all my LPs and tapes into mp3 and then uploaded them onto an iPod. As disc space was a premium on my laptop, I never kept a copy of the many thousands of converted tracks. A year or so later Creative introduced a great little MP3 player. I got one and thought I would be able to get MY mp3s back off the iPod and then put them on the Creative Player, oh no Apple decided that the process would be one way only! I couldn't recover them, end of. At that point I realised that it was a fundamental Apple core concept that they wanted to trap the user and never let them leave. I stuck up two fingers to Apple and have never been back. Not once have I regretted that decision. Apple products still drive me mad when I'm forced to use them at work. Apple is an American invention and an American obsession. I'm happy to leave it over there! Steve
  5. The only positive from what is news that will shock almost every modeller in the country, is that they are able to manage an orderly closure of the business. This ensures that their staff are able to continue being paid in the short term. Business going under is never good news, having less choice in the marketplace is not really that important, but the impact on staff's lives and families can be huge. I hope they all manage to find suitable and timely employment. A sad day! Steve
  6. No. It has nothing to do with "lights" and is exactly how I described it to you. It makes the loco perform as if it were running light engine. Steve
  7. I've deliberately tried not to mention this, as it may result in the debate heading off down the wrong "track". 😂 I use an ESU ECoS, which is set to give a track voltage of 15V. Steve
  8. I have 3 Class 37s and all work flawlessly. Also 3 Deltics with the same speaker setup, which also work flawlessly. So is it just me? 😂 Steve
  9. I disagree 100%. Each to their own though. 😉 Steve
  10. When you select F6 (which should latch) the loco acceleration and deceleration rates are adjusted and everything happens much more quickly. Just as if the loco was running light engine or hauling a very light load.. F5 has the opposite effect, decreasing the rate of acceleration and deceleration as if it were hauling a heavy load. Steve
  11. What a shame this thread seems to have generated so much emotion, as there's some good learning to be had. For the sake of completeness, whilst also recognising the OP was asking about about certain products, it's worth pointing out that most quality decoders will allow for the adjustment of 'run on time'. If anyone with ESU decoders is looking to make an adjustment then CV113 is the variable to adjust, with a possible value between 0 & 255. Having looked at the HM7000 manual I can't see any CV that allows control of the run on time, but as I don't own any I'm not in a strong position to confirm that! Steve
  12. Hi Richard, as mentioned by SRman it is not a sound function (which is all that the original F2 was as far as could make out) but an actual brake function that will slow the loco irrespective of the throttle position. I called it a dymanic brake, but I'm not sure if that's the correct terminology. Once this latching function is released the loco will then follow the requested throttle position again. The CV changes to swap F29 and F2 are detailed in the attachment to my original post. Steve
  13. The 47 "light switch" sound IS really annoying and way too loud. I'm just about to reblow the decoder with the free ESU sound file. Steve
  14. F22 and F23 do not do anything on the D6704, or any of the other models from the same batch. As the name suggests, they only work with the WIPAC fitted models e.g. 37216, 37423 and the 37/6s. However F17 to F21 obviously should work. @Smudge617 The AS decoder will discount my initial thoughts, which were he'd fitted a generic Loksound 5 and not mapped the AUX functions.
  15. The lighting options (headlight, tailight, instrument, cab, engine room) should work. Was the model AS sound fitted, or is it an after market decoder? If the latter, is it an AS supplied decoder or from some other source? Steve
  16. Which begs the question, why sell the retaining clips for the Class 37 if they don't need them? He didn't say that you don't need them (of course you don't actually need them as other methods of fixing speakers are available!), but Gilbert actually said the clips just clip in and do not screw in. 😉
  17. I've just taken an original Accurascale 37 decoder and adjusted the CVs as suggested. I can confirm that the CV values quoted are correct. Did you undo all of the changes you've already introduced by doing a reset CV8 = 8? Have you read the CVs back to make sure they are as stated? Steve
  18. The extended yellow was very rare. There was a standard: Full yellow ends and no wrap around. 99+% were compliant!
  19. Merry Christmas Dave. I've also a blue LL 47711 on my desk. I'm thinking about changing it's identity to 47712. I'm also not too happy with the Bachmann sound file, and am considering reblowing it with the free ESU file. Just worrying that it'll be a one way desision and there'd be no going back! Steve
  20. If that were representative then AS would no longer be in business. Although I'm at 100% of my AS locos not having any issues 😉 Steve
  21. I've got the Kadee shuffle to work with the following adjustments. I wanted to use the couple/decouple sound that's available on F14 even though some might not think this is appropriate. To enable the shuffle: CV246 = 1 (speed) CV247 = 100 (time of movement forward after decouple=1.64s). Range 0-255. The lower the value the less distance moved. CV248 =90 (time of movement in reverse to decouple=1.47s). To assign shuffle to F14 CV31=16, CV32=9 CV276 = 64 @nelly. The CV values to assign the shuffle to F26 are CV31=16, CV32=10 CV308=64 Cheers, Steve
  22. Yeah I probably should have said that I can't get lead free solder to work anywhere nearly as well as solder with a bit of plumbum added. I do need to be careful not to upset the helicopter gods, because everyone knows helicopters don't fly because of science. 😉😂😂 Steve
  23. I'm with Bucoops, check it isn't lead free solder. It simply doesn't work!
  24. It depends if the person doing the reblow ticks the appropriate box on Lokprogrammer when doing the update, hence the note in my post above. Steve
  25. If it was said in the Class 37 thread, and I can't remember anyone doing so, you can be reassured that they were talking rubbish. Writing 8 to CV8 will not wipe a decoder, it will simply revert the settings back to the original programmed values including changing the address back to 3. (Note that someone with a Lokprogrammer can also save an update that will become the new "reset" default. I mention this for completeness as I assume it does not apply to you.) Steve
