  1. You wouldn't believe the size of the bass reflex speaker I managed to shoe horn into it!!! It's coupled to a Zimo MX644D decoder. Most people who have heard it in the flesh have loved it. Jinty

  3. Here is a Heljan 25/1, finished in BR green with full yellow end, it is TOPS numbered using Railtec custom numbering, including the blue data panel. I added the blue side covers and the wonky 0O00's from Precision Labels. The loco has been fitted with a Zimo MX645P22 sound decoder with an ADAPLU adaptor board. The decoder is loaded with a Paul Chetter Active Drive sound project with Dynamic Braking and Speed Lock, all through two bass reflex speakers.   4. Sadly failing on that score Andy!!! Anyway, first update of 2019 and we're only in May!!! I purchased an Ex-Northstar LNWR M52 Driving Trailer from the current producers, Gladiator. It's a lovely kit and I've managed to get the body together today, all nice and square, cleaned up and the roof roughly cut and placed on top awaiting final fettling. This is to go with my Dapol BR Black Jinty, 47479 which is auto fitted as it was whilst shedded in Swansea. Rule 1 for a trip from Swansea to Talyllyn!!! Here is the body at close of play today. Hopefully it won't be as long before the next update. Jinty
  5. Dapol version and Lionheart models both have glowing fireboxes. I know that the firebox light is visible and attributed to the coal shovelling at the end of the video above. You will need an early BR crest Pannier for that period. Jinty
  6. I've got all of them. I have 4 Minerva Panniers, 1 Dapol Pannier and one of the ex-Lionheart 74xx Panniers. I've decided to standardise on the Minerva as they are superb runners, but also as the class is so huge, the Minerva version gives the necessary alternatives to cover most variations. The 74xx though is certainly a splendid model, and as mentioned there is a belt drive from the motor to the gearbox and it is a very smooth and heavy runner. The loco body is die-cast. Hi Tricky, Nothing amiss, I keep looking in from time to time, but other duties are taking my eye away from the WB a little, as well as a son leaving home for another part of the country, it's been a busy few months. Coupled to the fact that I'm not keen on the new format of RMWeb, I've sort of been posting elsewhere quite a bit. Maybe a couple of pictures of some of the bits I've been up to eh? A couple of Accurascale HUO Hoppers............ A Dapol Brakevan converted to a RF branded Air Braked CAR........ Another Dapol Brakevan converted to a Bauxite one with yellow Air Braked panels. Both brakevans have had Railtec transfers added as well as Slaters Oleo buffers and additional bufferbeam pipework. Yes I know they don't have roller bearing axleboxes as there was only so far I could go practicably. Another couple of pictures below as well. Apparently not, I'm only allowed 10mb of photographs unless I subscribe to Goldiness!!! So that's yer lot I';m affraid. Jinty

Vettel has always had a penchant for buckling under pressure, against Button in the Brawn in Turkey, The temper tantrums with Lewis and Webber along the way, and the many, unforced errors that have come about since his last World Championship win. I think the writing is on the wall for him, unless he can claw back some semblance of discipline with himself. Ferrari say it will always favour Vettel if the standings are at 50/50, but I believe that the raw talent of LeClerc will just outshine Vettel this year, and may possibly cause the Ex WC to take a sabbatical at the end of the season. LeClerc is still slightly immature, but his race craft is undeniable, and this coupled with his determination and obvious skill behind the wheel, should see him in a WC challenging position, maybe during this season, but certainly I would imagine, next season. Lewis, has acknowledged the skill set of LeClerc, and I would imagine that he knows deep down, although he's about the most 'complete' driver on the grid, and in just about the most 'complete' car, his titles may not come to him so easy in the future. Both Verstappen and LeClerc are snapping at his heels, and he knows it. Jinty
  11. Unfortunately not available anymore as Modelmates have ceased trading, but it was a 'home brew' mixture of Modelmates weathering washes applied and then left to dry overnight. Once dry and hardened, a cotton bud dipped in water was used to remove most, leaving the dirty rust areas you can see. The subtle rusting of the underframe is simply an AK Interactive dirty brown wash, applied, mostly removed and then a gentle application of rust powders where needed. No airbrushes were injured during this process I do believe that Modelmates weathering liquids are now known as 'Dirty Down' weathering liquids, I've recently purchased a bottle of their Rust liquid to try.   13. Here is a rake of 5 Skytrex PCA's, built and finished with Peartree wheels, Slaters Oleo buffers and Dapol couplings (Yes I know they should be instanter). All the numbering is from Railtec and some logos, etc from Fox. Weathered as in service vehicles without too much of a build up of crud, except in the usual areas around the solebar and pipework. I think they make up into a nice wagon for not much money. Off on holybobs on Thursday for a few days, so more when I return. I've got another 6 of these to weather as well Jinty

  15. Evening all. Well here is ne of the little darlings to come off the workbench today. A Dapol 08, numbered as 08478, fitted with a Zimo MX644D sound decoder with Paul Chetter's Protodrive sound project and run through one of my own Bass Reflex speakers mounted in the nose. I've added a couple of little details such as an oil can on one footplate and a spare tail lamp on the other. I've beefed up the anaemic vacuum pipe with some Slaters springs as well and fitted wipers on the rear windows. Here are a few pictures, I apologise for the over exposed pictures that have been altered with a computer photo editing program, but I was fighting changeable weather conditions that didn't lend itself to decent model photography.   18. Well a little change to the monotonous wagons, and now that I've started to feel better, I can now get to my weathering bench. A 25/3 that I dug out the other day just to try a couple of little detail alterations on, finished as a workworn Crewe example, 25285 in BR Blue. This will start it's journey to Derbyshire this evening. Here are a few pictures............. More very soon now that I'm feeling a bit better. Jinty

  20. Hi Peter, Yes I'm feeling a tad better today, might even wander into the garage. For the class 25, I've done it a couple of ways. On one, I removed one motor and used an MX645R. I did notice that the gear tower binded slightly so I removed all the intermediate gears in the bogie and let it run smoothly. Obviously keeping the pick-ups. On others I've left the motors in place and for a few pounds more than a MX645R, you can get a MX645P22 and an ADAPLU adaptor board which increases the motor load enough for a twin motored class 25. As for speakers, I have my own bass reflex speakers which I place on pedestals facing down through the bogie apertures. I remove the fan gubbins and glue the fan to the top of one of the speakers where it should go. So I'm not sure if the fan can be controlled ok from the Zimo range, the best person to ask is Paul Chetter (pauliebanger on here), I would imagine it could as Zimo tends to be much better with controllable function outputs than ESU, etc. I have a picture of an ESU fitting I did a long while ago showing the mounting and position of the speakers.   21. Still not well at all, in fact going backwards instead of forwards I think. Took the day off work today, and spent it asleep mostly!!! Anyway, here are another couple of ZDA's that have been weathered and patch painted last week. Not sure how I got the frosty effect on the trees............................................ I can only load 3 pictures of 2.5mb per post at the moment, as there is a limit on picture uploads, might have to trim them down a bit more. Hopefully more very soon Jinty
