  5. Well, I finally had some free time to photograph my stock, which came last Thursday: The Mk1 BSK. This will be turned into Bulmers liveried M35219, and have the Commonwealth bogies changed out for the BR1s under my RMB, which incidentally needs Commonwealths fitted The Ks BR liveried P2. This will be staying as is, but will have the AWS bang plate refitted, as that came off in the mail The P2 with the Mk1 BSK, my RMB and my BSK And comparing noses, the P2 in the company of a Hornby Empire of India which is to be turned into Bittern in preservation condition, with second tender I will happily say that Gilbert has been excellent to deal with, even from halfway around the globe. I don't think I have ever had someone as easy to deal with, and someone who has kept me up to date every step of the way. Thanks again Gilbert

  7. Well, having the chance to do some photography with excellent (if hot!) weather today, and having had a lucky chance to pick up a second Coronation this week, I pulled out my Duchess of Hamilton and did a set of comparison shots. Just to make it clear, DoH is on the right/foreground of the shots, and C is on the left/background Front 3/4 shot Nose comparisons Tender comparisons. The different shades can clearly be seen, particularly the lining Cab side comparisons. The prismatic effect of the GBL windows can clearly be seen, as can the different fonts for the cabside numbering Top shot. This is the only image where the Hornby DoH is on the left and the GBL C is on the right Cab roof and tender top comparisons. The most noticeable thing missing from the GBL model on the cab roof is the rails for the cab ventilator. The undersized safety valves are also noticeable on the GBL model

True, true. That, and finally being out of school!

  10. To be perfectly honest, I am surprised that the stock wasn't fitted with side skirts in the location. Looks may have been compromised, but safety would have gone up. As a side note, I will still be looking at doing a model of Jane. I need to find a copy of the plans, but life is (importantly) getting in the way at the moment.

  13. And I'm yet to figure out the difference between a Class 55 and a Deltic
  14. I think this more than deserves to be in here, as it's based off an '89....Bat: For more on the car, the website and Facebook is here: http://www.batmobileaustralia.com/ https://www.facebook.com/pages/1989-Batmobile-for-hire/165657110180755
  15. Hmmm...I'll drop the operations manager a line in the next fortnight. I like the idea, and it could be interesting. I'd say 4204 and 42101 are more likely, considering that the LVR often provides motive power for 3801 (and 42101 is privately owned), and both will be in Tuscan, while 4201 is in the 125 years of rail livery. Though I see your point in it being 01 and 01
  16. 42101 has undergone trials on Cowan Bank. Footage from Bevan Wall
  17. Yeah. Both lots of coaches went with the two British locomotives-4472 and the 12w coaches, and 4079 and the S-type ones. The W class is a little beauty. It's one engine I'd like to get a proper look at, but as the nearest one is over in Broken Hill*, that may not happen for a while. Only reason I said anything about 4002 was I was told by one of the main fitters from the RTM that we had been given 4002, and we just had to get it from the Pilbara to Perth to drag it cross-country. As to the accuracy of that statement I don't know. I believe it was 4 K class locomotives, including the former BHP D49 and K206, that were trialed by South Spur Rail Services. Not being old enough to go and see them (and not having the same level of interest as I do now), I never saw them myself. Although I've seen quite a few L Class locos? If you don't mind me asking, who do you currently work for? *The one in Broken Hill is one of the Silverton Railway ones, but is almost identical bar the cowling and a few other tweaks.
  18. Cheers. Although the Hotham Valley line was only the second reason I asked.... There's about 6-7 NSWGR 12w carriages stored in Pinjarra, from when Flying Scotsman travelled there from here. I do know that the Pilbara Railways Historical Society has a few NSWGR S-type carriages, as well as 4002 (which we would like back!). It's amazing how far stuff travels. Like the K Class locomotives that were trialed here in NSW back in 2008
  19. Always! Not often you see pictures of preserved stock (or even in use stock) from that end of Aus! Now, how close are you to Pinjarra....
  20. Sold on the T9. Now just to wait for them to arrive down here....
  21. Escher's misaligned entryway?
  22. Well, I've just succumbed and purchased a Coronation. Now what to do with it.......?
