  1. Bought some fixtures and fittings from West Hill Wagon works. I must say the detail is really good. I have some more bits from another supplier on the way too to add more detail
  2. and you’ve got to remember that viewing a model is an entirely different perspective from viewing the real thing. if you remember to take into account your eyes are about 10ft apart on an o gauge model, and not looking from almost the same place by comparison looking at a full size loco, so this can distort angles and curves to make things not look quite right when looking at a model, and is why some people can’t put their finger on why it doesn’t look quite right
  3. Well, my tuppence worth modern image is coined from the modernisation of British Rail, but was shortened to modern image in the modelling world, so perhaps that should change to British Rail Modern image or something. So basically then there is the privatisation era which is the era from when BR was sold off until today being modern current image….so that’s why 1960’s diesels are modern image

    New deltic

they really should do better plated over headcodes as they look bad it would be interesting to see one side by side with an original model, but that nose does look a lot better

    New deltic

that’s good. I’ve pre ordered D9000 as I had it on the Ramsgate so glass headcode panel. I also saw it in Selhurst lift shop when it was in around the end of 87 early 88 whenever it was. I was a first year apprentice in the training school at the time, and it was the first Deltic I ever saw. Got some photos of it too
  6. Okay, help please. Can anyone advise me on where I can obtain spare Lenz axleboxes? I have lost one from my carriages. Luckily it’s on the centre axle so isn’t used to keep the axle in position on this vehicle, but it seems that I lose one every time I get one out for a run, and on my MBW wagons too. They all seem to shed parts like it’s going out of fashion
  7. yep, more common here in Australia than a 2 storey house
  8. thanks Clinton. So, if I drive slowly it’ll be good 😁 slow freight it is
  9. Well, I have just added to my collection of wagons. One brake van and one ballast wagon. See below so my question is, generally in UK freight ballast trains were seperate from general goods traffic from what I can see, German freights were more mixed. So was there any particular location in a freight this small hopper would fit in, or was it anywhere depending on where the train was travelling?
  10. I must say, it’s nice having a bit of the old mojo back 😃🚂🔨
  11. Hand rail made, looking pretty good I think. Give it a bit of black paint later
  12. Happy with that. Lightened the tone on the water tank and added the vent pipe down the wall with the offset to clear the overhang and ladder. You can just see the end of the single plank walkway. I’ll look at fitting the walkway hand rail, and then the ladder tomorrow hopefully
  13. Well, one of the 2 jobs I forgot before I start the roof, ticked off. All the lights are now hard wired in properly and work.
  14. ARC PGA’s of various types crab, dace, mermaid wagons 92’s but not expected 1980’s tamper, GP Tramm etc
  15. Calling that done. Onwards and upwards literally. Time to start the roof construction
  16. That was fiddly! Bufferstop beams. although fiddly, I have really enjoyed the bufferstops project, and am now wondering why I put it off for so long
  17. based on the other traction that’s been on the depot, I suspect a big POP would occur when the pan went up
  18. Well as a former EWS driver spending many hours on them, even though I’ve not driven one in over 10 years, my tinnitus reminds me constantly of my time in them, so I wouldn’t need a sound version.
