  3. It's been on my 'to do' list for ages, but I've never managed to be there when it's open. Must try harder!
  4. When I got to Waterloo I decided to spend a few minutes filming the trains. But the sun was shining and the trains were coming thick and fast so my few minutes turned into half and hour! Anyway, here's the first part of the video I shot whilst there: I also paid a brief visit to Liverpool Street which seems to have changed a bit since my trainspotting days: TTFN, Ron.
  5. I think that it was Isambard that nearly got drowned when the tunnel flooded. However, I'm happy to be corrected if it wasn't.
  6. The first tunnel to be built under the River Thames was from Wapping to Rotherhithe; it was built by Marc Brunel and his son Isambard. Construction started in 1825 and it took 18 years, finally opening in 1843 - but only for pedestrians. Rails were laid in 1845 and it became a railway tunnel - which it still is today.   23. Here's another short clip from Highley; this time it's GWR 'Saint' Class 4-6-0 2999 LADY OF LEGEND. Or 'Lady of Leisure' as I heard somebody call her! TTFN, Ron.
  24. I spent most of the day on the SVR enjoying the sunshine as well as the trains at Highley. The first two videos from there are now on YouTube with one featuring the LNER teak carriages hauled by SIR NIGEL GRESLEY and the other showing the B.R. Standard Class 4 as it sets off for Kidderminster: TTFN, Ron.
  25. Evening All, I had a day out on Sunday and went to the Spring Steam Gala on the Severn Valley Railway. Needless to say I took a few snaps and a feet of video footage and I have now started the process of editing and uploading the results to YouTube. So, if anyone would like to have a look, here are the first three short (i.e. between two and three minute) clips of a train ride from Kidderminster Town to Arley: Hope they're of interest.
