  1. Well, that is it. The last outstanding items I had with Hattons. And so glad to see the P class have found a nice home.
  2. I think their agents are busy replying to questions this afternoon.... Mine ended up duplicated and I think I might know why. But excellent news that this has ended up with Accurascale.
  3. It is for the SFX specials only. And the vid shows that the chip performs a sequence: 1/ buffer up 2/ trigger uncoupling mech 3/ pull back a few mm And my guess there will be one on each end since the hardest operation to automate in DCC is to uncouple, run round to the other end and recouple up again. IF you are using magnets (like buck-eyes or modified tension locs), you need a space to detect when the loco enters a braking zone, then a space that it will move slowly too to uncouple, and it needs to stop within a few CM gap. Then go back same 5mm, hope it has uncoupled and then pull away. Further detectors required to determine when the points are cleared, run round, and gently couple up. Very complex under an automated DCC system though can be done by eye (and you can pause the computer) program to allow for this action. This system makes detection easier, as you do not need to know within a few cm of where the loco stops. TBH, I remember Hattons advertising a system a few years back. But never saw the details.
  4. Add the 03/04, 08, 20, 24/24 on top. Bachmann has covered most with all new tooling. Hornby are a bit stuffed. All their flagship diesels are now being done better elsewhere except the 08/09 and HST.
  5. We definitely need 3 makes of Manors.... They will come on the tail of two other excellent models. Actually the WD 2-10-0 is a real risk IF Bachmann are announcing all new steam locos in OO gauge again.
  6. Yep, e-mail them first. As for import fees, the parcel should clearly marked return/repair and replacement respectively so that these do not trigger. If they do, get the full postal receipt so Kernow can reclaim them.
  7. Most are still on their website to be ordered with a few other Hattons collection items. It is reasonable to assume these are going ahead. It will just be timing of delivery and if there could be a handover or not to an interested party (I can think of at least 3 and all of them are reputable). We will know once they have decided what etc. But at this time, it is they can still be ordered and Hattons will probably deliver them.
  8. Looks like the 1950s trix model (toy)
  9. From the Jenny Kirk video, my overall impression is that they are being made. Whether it will be Hattons that deliver them to us or an "interested party", only time will tell. (same for P and coaches).
  10. 325 has been sold out for the past couple of weeks. I guess Bluebell just added itself to it.
  11. Ah you see, you were not last. I am still waiting but then mine is DCC sound, abroad, ordered around xmas 2022, surname begins high in the alphabet etc etc....
  12. True. Sadly in the post covid world, we do not easily get to choose when something is delivered now..... You are welcome;
  13. Carbon brushes? I had a motor with those symptoms once and it was iron dust from the magnets! In my experience, carbon build up would slow the model down slowly over time until the commutator was cleaned.
  14. I just send them an e-mail for the tracking id (critical for me abroad in post Brexit world where import duties need to be watched). They normally reply the same day.
  15. That's impressive. It could be the windings heating up, breaking down then cooling and working normally again. But what could cause an increase load on the motor? Dried grease? rusting axles? Mind I remember Heljan class 17s blowing their motors with ease. I see Morley do 1 amp and 2.5 amp for O or big OO layouts. I could not find the voltage for the latter. Nor whether voltage gradually creeps up with speed or it controls models via pulsing (I can remember triang motors hating 1/2 pulse on a H&M for example). Weird that both Ds should go down at the same time (I have 4Ds and 2 D1s, and apart from a broken sand pipe, no issues to report - my controller a Gaugemaster 1.1amp output). Maybe contact DCC supplies who act as spares agent.
  16. What other locos have shown the same? It sounds like a circuit component heating up, cutting out, cooling down and repeating itself.
  17. I've all 3 SECR versions. The original Hornby (ex Dapol) tooling one, the last Hornby version and the Rails/Dapol version. The Original Hornby ex Dapol version was the cheapest of the 3 (for obvious reasons) and the paintwork is bright! The Original Hornby ex Dapol versions were the standard shunters on the layout for the past couple of decades with 8 of them. But they are retired now with the P class taking their spot. That said I've 6 of the new Hornby and Rails versions, split 3/3. IF ever someone does Fenchurch as an A1... Back to the later SECR versions, I first ordered Rails in DCC format. Later the Hornby one appeared in the bargain bins, so I brought that too as sometimes you just want to relax and let trains go round, and DC is far better for that! Running and reliability wise, they are as good as each other. Build wise I put Rails ahead as Hornby can have bits fall off. As for accuracy, Rails is better especially the buffers. Below pics of the SECR versions (all 3), and the KESR versions from both. Details between Bodiam (rails) and Rolverden (Hornby) and mostly due to errors on Hornby's part. Though some differences are historically correct.
  18. Fond few memories of their little shop, not far from my brother's house whenever I visited him.
  19. In the newsletter, it states 70 different colour schemes for these wagons, however I can only count 53 between Rapidos range and those exclusive to shops. So who else is doing them?
  20. The stuff I'm seeing on US social media.... You need to take what they say, not with a pinch of salt but several palettes with sacks full of salt. The thing is, anyone can write and say anything and I've seen stuff from people claiming to be staff or are in close contact with staff. And it is one heck of a story, that is getting bigger by the day! In a nutshell, you would need a lot of diligence to see this one coming (I suspect some of the stuff claimed over there would be out right illegal over here if it is true - and that's a a BIG IF). But the crux of the "claim" is that there is a 7 figure tax bill to be paid (by who is another question, and the wrangling's of how it got there, who did what etc of it all should make a great film in Hollywood...). A lot of this is like Trump's "I know someone who said...". And it is looking like a huge conspiracy theory that only the US knows how best serve! It will soon be up there with Flat Earth and Creationist Science. The whole story looks like being on a big ship that is about to blow up. And the best anyone can hope to do, is to get off it as fast as you can!
  21. Maybe a difference between apps. Mine iPhone. But it never transferred the address to the chip. I always found they were 0003 whenever I switched to DCC. Of course it might be possible writing a long address on the CVs itself via bluetooth.
  22. And Hattons were doing new Gaugemaster controlers as part of their clearence, cheap recently. They are as solid as the H&Ms, come with life time gauranttee, made in the UK and take up 1/3 of the space on the layout. And they are a bloody sight safer too. Their D matches a H&M duette on power too, so can run a Wrenn loco if required!
