  1. Surely in that part o'the world it would be a class 40 ?
  2. Hello Bif, Per our conversation at Members Day about 'having a go' what recorder are you using now ? Rgds, Andy
  3. Yes I know - but if your pre-orders, like mine, are from a well known Sheffield retailer then the small print says that pre-order price will be held for only 12 months from date of order and November is when my 12 months is up. You might want to check ?
  4. Just checked Bachmann website and it's not on the 60 day forecast. Seriously thinking about cancelling my advance order.
  5. To ask that it must've been a long time ago........ I remember adding to the 2012 wishlist poll on here - "Anything from Bachmann that arrived in the same year it was announced"
  6. Hello Brian, Ref photo #4 post #1226: I've been trying, for curiosities sake, to find out what the piece of body mounted equipment is that fits in the (model) holes forward of the engine access doors but behind the air grilles towards the nose end. It is visible on most pictures of Claytons that I've seen but I'm not sure it was fitted to all ? Wondered if the JTLRT kit instructions / parts list identifies it ? Hoping this is not too much off topic. Regards, Andy ps loco looks good - might have to buy one, trouble is can I justify it ?
  7. Thinks that the ability to count should be included as part of the driving test. That way drivers would recognise that there are 3 lanes to a motorway AND that the SPEED LIMIT is 70mph.#

Yeah, that's the *minimum* speed limit for some.

    3. N15class

      N15class

but then 95% of teenagers would be driving without a licence

Bachmann and their customer service (?)

  9. The Wickham units had TOPS class 109 allocated to them, easy to spot with their narrow(er) centre window. Rgds, Andy
  10. IIRC the roof moulding, because it's part of the window moulding, is just painted clear plastic, not a problem if you don't want to add lighting - but if you do be careful to ensure there are no scratches if not repainting, otherwise the light will shine through. Guess how I found out years ago .......Doh !
  11. Thoroughly enjoyed Wyre Forest Club Exhibition earlier today.

Glad you had a good time leopardml! Will (car parking elf)

  12. Tim Hope I'm not the bringer of doom - but do you know if the 'sticky stuff' on the back of the labels will 'go the distance' ?
  13. Brian, They were actially ex VIX ferryvans in Railfreight red / grey, pic I had in mind just show the FNA - but negs either side show Class 47+van - FNA - van. A better train still ? Rgds
  14. Hello Brian, I'm pretty sure I've a photo at Preston with some Railfreight liveried VEAs being used as runners - my sojourn there was from 1986 - 1990 so the period would be about right. I'll hunt it out - may be a while tho' as I'm away from my photo collection for the next few days. Rgds,
  15. Well for a start, Sheffield's on t' reet side o' t' Pennines...................... Retrieving coat and preparing to leave
  16. Hello Black Sheep, Another thing you may like to reflect upon (pun intended) is the geology of your layout setting. The underlying rock structure can have a dramatic effect on the water - see these 3 contrasting locations:- http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2359 http://www.grannybuttons.com/granny_buttons/WindowsLiveWriter/private%20canal%20arm.jpg http://indigodream.files.wordpress.com/2009/09/r_coventry-2009_09_12_063.jpg All are in 'The Midlands' but each is very different. I've tried to choose pictures which show the water unifnluenced by sky reflections - not as easy as you might think ! Andy
  17. has realised that his interest in real trains started to wane when MUs and coaching stock lost regional prefixes.

  18. When I enquired about 6 months ago I was told that these were out of production, so I'll look forward to finding out more also. MTK did a kit for a 506 some years ago IIRC that's what the one that runs on Market Roundham is.
  19. Interesting pic here:- http://www.flickr.co...N05/2183058618/ and more so here:- http://www.flickr.co...N08/3269267006/ Have posted links rather than copies to keep t'right side of copyright.
  20. With Hi-Viz clothing getting everywhere, soon the only noticeable ones will be those in normal clothing. A sort of dark area in a huge pool of dayglow !
  21. Natalie, Unfortunately you ain't gonna please some people - ever ! I for one thank you; and as for the use of differing naming 'conventions' surely if anyone finds it a real inconvenience it's not beyond the use of basic computer skills (for them) to edit it for their own use. The important info is there in the form of dates and they use only one convention ! Thanks again - most useful.
  22. Education in its widest sense ? Including parental guidance and responsibilities as well as learning by experience ? Seems like a reminder that a good dose of common sense helps, surely this is the missing underpinning. The thing that really 'gets my goat' is 'Caution: Contents may be hot' on drinks cups. I do hope so, because that's why I bought it. I once took a drink back for a refund because it wasn't, only to be given very short shrift by the buffet (sorry - on board shop) attendant.
  23. Yeah I know - but I wonder how many others do, especially those who invoke a bullying style of management ? Which I think is what David (quoted in my post) may have been alluding to ?
  24. I think you'll find that most employment contracts require you to act in such a way as to not endanger others - so if you know a practice is dangerous and do not mention it, it is possible that you could be considered to be negligent yourself - and don't expect that same boss to be sympathetic to that either. As ever it's the people who are meant to implement, and oversee same, these guidelines who are the ones that are most likely to ignore them becuase it suits their budget.
  25. But..................... How many people would be of strong enough character to actually stand up and say (of their own actions) 'It was my fault' rather than trying to blame someone else and thus shirk their responsibilities to both themselves and others? Contoversial? Maybe. Edit - inability to spell ''controversial"
