  1. Six days ago you said "I have to say the staff at Hattons have been very good and I have no issues with the help given." Did something go wrong in the last week?
  2. It's gone, but eBay tells me I can get something similar. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-dublo-2-rail-/123312967803?oid=263934174247
  3. Dave did indeed initially put his money where his mouth is, but lately, have you noticed it's largely the customer's money ... APT, HUO, King, class 92 ...
  4. If someone is writing an article about using a specific product, that's not product placement. At least, not as practiced on TV and in movies. However, looking at the price of "must-have" items, and seeing how many you're then told you need ... I know where you're coming from!
  5. What worries me most about Dave's replies - not just the most recent - is the mixing up of HMRC (tax) and Companies House. They aren't the same thing. Although you can submit both together, you do need to send Companies House your accounts (https://www.gov.uk/annual-accounts). But that's been said before ... Being £900 in credit at HMRC is nice, but nothing to do with Companies House, and quite rightly won't show up there - it's a private matter (and anyway, is that corporation tax or income tax ... no, I don't want to know; it's private, I'm just saying ...)
  6. I argue that DJM has failed to meet this basic task. Colin asked politely last week for reassurance from Dave, and Dave has conspicuously failed to address that issue despite posting twice about PayPal and the refunds. Posting accounts with company house is a basic requirement of a company and it is the director's (or directors') responsibility to ensure it is done. Hiding behind blaming an accountant is a poor show, because a qualified and reputable accountant would not let it get that far (providing they had all the information they needed). Companies house is separate from HMRC but the paperwork can be filed together (note: "You file your accounts with Companies House and your Company Tax Return with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). You may be able to file them together if you have a private limited company that doesn’t need an auditor." Lots more stuff on this at: https://www.gov.uk/prepare-file-annual-accounts-for-limited-company). So, with apologies to the people who really don't want to discuss the financial health of the company some are proposing to give a thousand pounds to, once again: Dave, can you give us the reassurance that your accounts have been filed with companies house?
  7. I don't know anyone who thinks you can't look out for yourself, but we're just pointing out for the umpteenth time that DJM's accounts are 3 months overdue at Companies House; now a week since he promised they were going in (new accountant) and 28 days since they were previously promised they were going in (previous accountant). It really is the most basic of tasks by which a company proves that it is competent to handle thousands of pounds of our money. Every time Hornby issue results, it is pored over to the nth degree by every man and his dog on here; Coopercraft was pulled to bits on here; but for some reason DJM is the only modelling company exempt from even the most basic scrutiny. 8. So when on 30 June (http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/135385-djmodels-companies-house-strike-off-notification-content/&do=findComment&comment=3216747) you said, " I've just spoken to the accountant (yes on a Saturday) and the info required by HMRC will be filed today, possibly by mid afternoon", this previous accountant let you down? Not a very good accountant it seems.
  9. PayPal has information about refunds: https://www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp/article/I-want-a-refund.-How-do-refunds-work-FAQ3248 ClickSafe is just a system that gives card protection while shopping online. Any card. (But I don't understand what you mean by classifying as a cash transaction. Dave's system will presumably work like any other online shop.) https://www.lloydsbank.com/credit-cards/clicksafe.asp
  10. Phew, It's difficult keeping up with all the changes. I thought it was looking really nice from the last postings, and now you're ripping it all up again! You might have been able to afford that Aston Martin by now if you'd not started on Carrog!

  12. Now there's a "prisoner's" dilemma. If we all go for one kit, there's a good chance it will go ahead; if we split, there may not be enough numbers.
  13. Back in 2012, Adam was blogging about it on here: www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/blog/78/entry-8518-the-big-ed-part-3-glazing-and-detailing Links to other parts of the build are on the page. It seems the bogie sides are shorter than prototypical to accommodate the then-available Black Beetle. However, the body shell looks pretty good. David (no relation to DC Kits!)
  14. Yes, imagine if this was Hornby missing even one filing date, let alone getting a notification of strike-off.
  15. Lloyds Bank ClickSafe is a payment protection/verification system that runs after you've clicked "pay" in an online shop, it's not a means of paying a bill in a Lloyds branch. Details from the bank here: https://www.lloydsbank.com/credit-cards/clicksafe.asp
  16. You won't make any money on the APT? None at all? Not even a wage?
  17. Samantha is still the virtual assistant, and they do still broadcast the innuendoes!
  18. You did say earlier, "if Collins really maintain that the use of the word "reveal" as set out in the first example of your post no. 726 constitutes a noun then they are no longer fit to edit and publish dictionaries" ... which is essentially laying down an almighty challenge for the RMWeb equivalent of QI's elves :-)
  19. "Au contraire yourself" in what respect? The definition is in a dictionary. It is a noun. I love the way language changes and adapts. It's not always pretty, but it's always fascinating.
  20. Au contraire ... :-) Reveal noun 4. the act of exposing something that has been concealed, esp as the climax of a theatrical performance or magic trick 5. architecturethe vertical side of an opening in a wall, esp the side of a window or door between the frame and the front of the wall Collins English Dictionary. 21. Yes, possibly. The point being that none of this was available before the orders were taken, so you may have potentially many people out there - particularly people who don't use RMWeb - who are unaware of the risks. Colin above says, "In the absence of any T&Cs to the contrary AT THE TIME OF ORDERING, I understood that my money is to help DJM fund this particular project rather than my taking a risky investment in some new start up venture". But his assumptions may not be the same as other people's. Have you sent out these T&Cs out to all investors? If I were doing this I'd want them all to have ticked a box to say "I have read ..." or at the very least been sent something to say "if you don't do anything, these apply from <date>", to cover myself if there are problems later. (The latter essentially matches what my bank does from time to time)
  22. I thought a while back it was stated that tools of trade can't be seized?
  23. Or 4 ... not just LNER, as mark54 pointed out ... Hugh's reply: "It will include all carriage stock (including NPCS) that was inherited by British Railways (from the Big Four and pre-grouping companies), as well as stock built by BR to pre-nationalisation designs. ... I've been amazed to find the wide variety of stock that BR acquired, including 4 wheel and six wheeled stock, with some dating back to the 1890s."
  24. A fellow author (if indeed you are the esteemed author of Modeller's Guide to Modern British Rail Motive Power) ought to know how long it takes to publish things, and that "with the publisher" and "few months" can possibly mean anything from "it's printing as we speak" down to "they're reviewing the manuscript and doing their costings before sending it out to a copy-editor/typesetter" So, anything from 1 month from Hugh's post up to maybe 6 months. And that's assuming they aren't holding it back to tie publication into a specific event.
  25. You mean, the Stafford show? That's where he was when I saw him yesterday. It's a bit dusty, but the clientele aren't all that bad.
