  1. Well I be blowed, makes me think about selling all the other Southern, Western and now Eastern stuff, and just spend my time and energy recreating the Lyme Regis branch line. Being born in 1985 I never saw it, but I really wish I could have seen the line, which once ran not far away from me here in Dorchester. So maybe I could recreate it... Probably won't be selling me stock but this announcement does seriously cause one to think...
  2. I can see myself buying one brake, one third and one composite in 'Blood & Custard'. Well done Hornby, and can think about retiring that old Hornby(Airfix) Centenary...
  3. I have been led to believe that when shunting need to take place (at Ashburton at least), they just left the coach still attached on, to save time having to unhook off the control rods. I imaged it would be difficult in certain stations/sidings though.
  4. I can't find it either. I hope they haven't cancelled it I just sold an old Lima one (which had had the conversion to create the DMS) to make way for it....
  5. I would like to renumber the engine (and possibly changing the emblem as well), to suit an example of the class that ran on the Midhurst - Pulborough line in the BR era. 32470 might be alright, but 32469 seems to have different safety valve arrangement. Never noticed that before in the photo's I seen before. Pictures of 32469 working on the line to Midhurst show it with the same cover as 32500's model. I looking at my photocopy of an article 'Radial Swansong' from Railway Bylines November 2004, and there maybe three alternatives for me based on engines located at Horsham, and Three Bridges. One could be 32463, which is attractive thought as the real 32463 was the first of the class. The second is 32468 which was once called 'Midhurst', which would be an attractive idea too. Another is 32577, which was photographed on the line in 1960.
  6. Right... Having read that, would I be safe renumbering my 32500 to either 32469 or 32470?
  7. Hurrah for the additional engines!!!!! When I ordered the early crest version I should of looked at my second copy of Locomotives Lustrated (number 142) and realised the first version Hornby did (and now have) wasn't fitted with Westinghouse braking, which was the version I really wanted (whoops). I was thinking of hunting for the late crest one when I had the money, but now I just pre-order the new one, as according to my LI it was witted with air brakes from new. Plus it has an early crest! So in my East Anglian dream the one I have now will be the freight engine, and the next one (or the D16) will be the passenger loco (since the idea of the F5 seems to be a no go). Well done Hornby!!!
  8. I changed my mind I still going get at least two. The price is a lot but as I said before I can't build (rude word)...!
  9. What the Dickins?!? Nearly 70 pounds. I would say that was still good value if you unable to make kits (like me I am utter rubbish) but that is seriously eye watering. Might only get one instead of all three which I was originally considering...
  10. Mine arrived today. Early BR version. Very pleased with it. I glad I brought those Gresely Compartment coaches when I did now! Now I just need somewhere to run it (doh!)
  11. I Hope they do a 54xx as with the Hattons 14xx I can get the full set of GWR 'modern' auto engines...
  12. Anyone know why Bachmann has changed the BR lined black versions' number. I'm happy to renumber back to a Sussex located engine, it but I worried that they changed it for a reason, so what would it be safe to renumber it to?
  13. Whoops. My Bad. Edited it. I think you right about 30582, I seen images of her and 30583 with the late crest. I am hoping to at some point own models of all three, but all with an early crest (I am mister picky, or mister fussy, or mister a##e), so I can only go for which ever companies' model of 30584 for now and wait patiently for further announcements...
  14. I hate to be captain miserable (worse words could describe me) but if the Kernow Model Centre is right, both Hornby and Oxford will both be producing number 30584 in BR lined black with a early crest. Its not that brilliant that two companies are working on the same model, but if one or the other was doing a 'early crest' model couldn't not one or the other choose a different number? I wonder if the reason why they both chose 30584 for the early crest version because it was the only one of the three not to get the later version?
  15. I like one too! In BR livery hopefully. (yes I done the survey)
  16. BR will be pre-ordered by me once I cleared the rest of the pre-orders... Will be first Midland Region model!!!
  17. The GWR 0-8-0T looks good, very good in fact... Same point, which is going make me sound like a bottom, the boiler on it should be a taper boiler with safety valves in the middle not the straight top with the dome.
  18. One planned GWR engine I suspect might be become a good looking model was Churchward's plan for a 0-8-0 pannier tank (1905?) for heavy shunting. Basically it reused the parts from the 45xx parries, i.e. same wheels, cylinders and number 5 boiler. So if you cut up a Bachmann model...
  19. Not really a wish list anymore isn't have we got to the point where need create a new thread and lock this one?
  20. Hang on the Bluebell don't have all three types of coaches, they got the only 60 foot SE&CR birdcage coach to survive but the other two types are extinct.
