  1. I accept that point so far as marketing is concerned but when a customer actually makes an enquiry then any chance of turning that into a sale is down to the quality of the response. Ignoring e mails and letters implies to me that the seller does not want my business. The same goes for badly written replies as described by Roy in post 486
  2. I agree. There are proprietors of some cottage industries who have a "can't learn/refuse to learn" attitude towards using the Internet Surely the time and cost input of a good website is much less than trudging round all the exhibitions and restricting one's market to those attending same exhibitions.
  3. I believe BREL at Derby had a few yards of Irish gauge track.
  4. I am wondering what kind of partys you go to lol. How do we know you didn't swallow a knotted string earlier!!!@
  5. In the event of a tie can we have a race? Wickham trolley at high speed anyone!
  6. Number one hits of 1953 (the year I was born). A Christmas present from my daughter.
  7. I think your description is rather harsh.
  8. How is this for weathering? Former Gatwick Express coaches that had been parked under trees for 6 years in Lisburn now at Adelaide, Belfast en route to the RPSI for preservation. Photos by Matthew Wilson
  9. At a P4 layout ask if the bullhead track is the new Peco or DCC Concepts.
  10. Hattons order form gives you the option of shipping items as they become available or of waiting until everything is available and then sending it all in one parcel. No need for e mails.
  11. If you think that is bad, search Youtube for "train surfing" Don't try this on the real railway. Here are two examples: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iq1eLWZUmuk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pf-8jL4PbeA
  12. Re Rich's post, I and many others use the upstanding bit at the end of the throw bar ( tie bar) to connect the actuating wire that links to the point motors. Edit to correct the auto correct.
  13. That's quite attractive, the black class 37.
  14. You have misunderstood Chris. There have been several posts querying the strength of the new points and I was referring to them in general and not your post in particular. As for your own question that would be an ecumenical matter. lol
  15. The turnouts have not yet appeared and already experts on here are assuming that the current solenoid motors are too powerful. I think the reason for this and similar analysis of as yet unavailable products is a question that belongs to the "unsolved mysteries" thread.
  16. Thanks Tony. A neat move by Olivias to get a bit of extra business. Would you consider one of their locos?
  17. Is Olivias "Fixing up" BGs or only ones that they already have?
  18. With a little restraint there would be no need for condoms lol
  19. Apparently this was to keep the heraldic police happy. BR only had a licence for one lion crest. Having a second crest with the lion facing the opposite way is a different crest for which they had no licence. The procedure for getting a second licence was so involved that BR decided not to bother.
  20. When does the warm and fuzzy feeling kick in? lol
  21. A very good point. All the discussion regarding sleeper dimensions and spacings also apply to flat-bottomed plain track and turnouts.
  22. Was that man on his way to a model railway exhibition by any chance.
