  1. At least they don't waste string any more. That should be good for the environment. :)
  2. How about a BR AC electric locomotive 4'8.5" and an Irish C class 5'3" seen together at Old Oak Common. Photo from Facebook
  3. Latest on RPSI website are pictures of the BR mk3 sleeper painted maroon being moved to its new location.
  4. Standard size boxes and bubbles is much more labour efficient than made to measure or recycled packaging. It is also quicker so gets your models in the post sooner. Cardboard is cheaper than labour. Saving the environment costs money and it would have to be passed on to the customer.
  5. My Mum and Dad gave me the idea for mine
  6. One would think that the site itself is worth a few bob on its own. The building looks like a combination of three or four houses. If they are in serious condition then demolition and build a new building could well be the economical sensible option. This would require planning permission and that might explain any delay.
  7. Such a letter should command a good price on Ebay.
  8. If I am reading things correctly the problem with Coopercraft is more about customer service. Unanswered e mails; inadequate website; hanging on to customers' money etc etc. I may be wrong but all of these service issues are completely independent of the quality or range of the kits, supply and technical problems etc.
  9. If you order more than one item there is an option to decide whether Hattons post them out as they become available or whether to wait until they have everything. Be sure to make the choice you really want as that could be the reason for some of the "delays".
  10. To spell it out: I meant that each and every level crossing of all types be allocated it's own unique post code which would be fed into the emergency services system and tells the emergency services on their geographical database where each level crossing is. The idea could extend to cover other non railway locations that might need the emergency services.
  11. Why not give post codes for level crossings? They may not get any mail but if that's the system the emergency services use then it could save lives by helping them to get there quicker.
  12. Train in section meaning don't cross is unworkable. Having to wait may be "tough" on the user but if he gets impatient and crosses and causes an accident then it is railway staff and passengers who suffer. Also in the case of a single track it may be that as soon as the train is out of section another train then enters right away. Thus a long section could be occupied for an hour even though there is only a train near the crossing for just a few minutes of that hour. Such a system on double track would be worse.
  13. On the contrary Horsetan, Clarence, Tim Hall and Ruth55 there was nothing dishonourable nor greedy about it. It was a much loved Triang coach that I had had since childhood and I still have it 10 years after that cancelled listing so no greed such as re listing it higher. No throwing of toys out of the pram either - just a genuine change of mind.
  14. Or if you no longer have the item or if it has been damaged. I did once withdraw a sale years ago in the last few minutes when I was unhappy about parting with it for only 99p. That was in the days before snipe bids.
  15. I think the truck in front of the photographer also got hit but not sure. As to the photographer stopping and reversing perhaps he could see the train coming off camera.
  16. I accept that point so far as marketing is concerned but when a customer actually makes an enquiry then any chance of turning that into a sale is down to the quality of the response. Ignoring e mails and letters implies to me that the seller does not want my business. The same goes for badly written replies as described by Roy in post 486
  17. I agree. There are proprietors of some cottage industries who have a "can't learn/refuse to learn" attitude towards using the Internet Surely the time and cost input of a good website is much less than trudging round all the exhibitions and restricting one's market to those attending same exhibitions.
  18. I believe BREL at Derby had a few yards of Irish gauge track.
  19. I am wondering what kind of partys you go to lol. How do we know you didn't swallow a knotted string earlier!!!@
