The chimney has to be removable to get the body off the chassis. E.g. if you need to get inside for decoder fitting/changing.

The chimney is a push fit as it fits into the top of the vertical boiler and rotates with it as per the real thing.  As stated above this does need to be removed should you wish to take off the body, we would not recommend gluing it in, but if you are going to regularly remove the rail motor from your layout then perhaps using something like tacky wax or blutack might be better?

Thanks for that info guys.  It won't be glued then, so it will have to be blutack.

The chimney should have been already fitted!

The chimney on mine was also loose, but thankfully I found it on the workbench before the carpet monster got it.

Can it be glued it without causing problems?

Meanwhile I've stored it in the detail pack so that it doesn't get lost.

Like other momentous moments in my life,  the closing of the store will be a day that I will remember and lament.

Indeed, that is how many including myself will remember Hattons' closure.

If you ignore the still listed pre order items, Hattons shop is really full of empty shelves with all the good stuff gone, but I enjoyed the sale and am awaiting my parcel.  It's amazing how fast everything went.

Best wishes to Hattons owners and staff.

Thanks Colin for quoting our FAX number.  You want to try that again?

Can you please advise the telephone number for the benefit of resolving the OP's issue.

Alstom undertook a giant kit build using parts which were transported from the other side of Birmingham and transformed it by adding the lights etc. using double sided tape before our eyes. The interior was empty (we used if for storage) so it must hold the record for being the biggest model ever to appear at a model railway exhibition!

    The ultimate 304.8 mm/ft model.

Perhaps we could start a topic for our last purchases from Hattons.

In my case the last I will receive will probably be my pre order CIE Genesis coaches.

Two days ago I purchased a pre owned Wrenn 2-6-4T in LMS maroon and a Hornby Dublo 0-6-2T repainted in BR green with "British Railways" lettering.

My first Hattons purchase in the 1960s was Hornby Dublo so I felt it fitting that my last purchase would also be Hornby Dublo.

    Thank You Hattons.
