but after seeing my bank statement this past month being the lowest expenditure ever,  it seems that I am cured.

The Hattons closing down sale had the opposite effect on my expenditure!!... but it's over now and I'm looking forward to receiving my purchases.

I believe this means that it was a company in which the Government was the sole shareholder. We've seen similar in recent years where the Government has taken a controlling shareholding in publicly-listed companies in the banking sector.

That is also the case with Northern Ireland Railways Company Limited.  It's a private limited company wholly owned by the Northetn Ireland Transport Holding Company which itself is a public corporation.

Well Hattons, sorry to see you go but you went out with a bang. That was some closing down sale!

There were bargains and thanks to your well managed close down they went to model railway enthusiasts instead of some warehouse clearance company, and you realised a better price for your stock.

    Au revoir Hattons.

  5. Well that my third, and final, "last" trunk emptying with Hattons.

I hope no one else closes down; I don't think my wallet could handle another closing down sale!

Wishing everyone at Hattons, owners and staff, well for the future.

Thanks for the memories, the friendly help and advice, and for all the trains over the years.

  6. There is very little left now, which I find quite sad.

There was a period over the last year or so when, like old times, there was lots of Hornby Dublo to choose from on the pre owned pages.  That has now faded out, my last purchase being an 0-6-2T and a couple of wagons.

  7. I agree it's not appropriate to speculate, but it is interesting to browse USA forums who are in similar shock about the loss of MB Klein as we here are about the loss of Hattons.

I'm sure the full story will emerge in due course.

A couple of birds-eye views of 93's roof:

NB. The chimney hadn't fallen out in the box - it was removed to allow travel over NR, within the loading gauge.

And there I was thinking this was a post from the 'Prototype for everything' thread. 😀

I like the ''Given away free with each 3 -rail loco' list which was no doubt comprised of things that Norman had thousands of and was unlikely ever to clear through normal sales 🙂

This is probably linked to all the diamond crossings that turn up reguarily on e bay even now. 😀
