  1. If you had said "Holyhead" the response would probably have not been "idiot" but "certifiable !"
  2. (a) Speaking of boards - "Son of Rosamund St." namely its' extension which will portray the semi-derelict and overgrown freight only 'Riverside Branch' has been drawn up full size, and will probably require 3 off 26" x 17" boards, with built in backscene/ends. The 'Riverside Branch' will operate either as an extension to R.S. or a self contained, stand alone layout. The need for three boards instead of two is because the pointwork would otherwise be across the single board joint, and will fit inside the new family chariot. The contract for groundworks will shortly be advertised, do you think Mr.Watts would be interested in submitting a tender ? ( B) Which show ? Do you need help with any tasks ? Gissa ring Big Bro.
  3. That's why I was never a serious spotter ................ if I needed a Landore 'Noddy' I'd wait for it to come to Canton for attention, and not get bored to death travelling all the way to Fishguard or Haverfordwest for it. !! . Brian R
  4. . That's a first, because I never knew this to be a loco shed per se. . Whitland was the west Wales diesel shed and which supplied shunters (all 204 h.p. later Cl.03)for Carmarthen, Whitland, Fishguard Harbour and Milford Haven/Haverfordwest, with a spare kept at Whitland. . I'm inclined to agree with Brian W regarding the shed being primarily a tamper repair shed, as by the time of its construction there were probably no pilots west of Burry Port, and mainline power would work to and from Landore. . But, I'm open minded.............. , Brian R
  5. Many years ago, towards the end of 'The Troubles' I volunteered for an I.E.D. awareness operation at M.o.L - nowt to do with suspect packages, car bombs etc - rail borne rolling stock was my raison d'etre . Brian R
  6. Is that 'Uncle Bryn's' house on the skyline bro ? . Only asking, because I never watched the programme myself.
  7. Oh ! No ! . I can picture it now, loner leaning on barrier at exhibition attracts operators attention with .... . "Excuse me, the tone of your signal box bells are definitely Westinghouse and they should be GWR Reading bells - there is a slight difference you know !" . "Oh - and it sounds like the bobby didn't pull them off in the right sequence for that move....................." . Brian R
  8. Detail photos of 08466 "Brillo" taken in 2008 - to show cab interior and Hima-Sella remote control fittings. . Brian R
  9. W A R N I N G ! . My brother 'naturol' is a full-blown smart @rse ! . Brian R
  10. If you think his containers are stacked in a perilous manner - you should see his scaffolding !!!!!!!!
  11. As usual, Six Bells Junction has the answers....... http://www.sixbellsjunction.co.uk/70s/761009_1.html Five and a half hours in Plymouth - what would the punters have done to kill time ? . Even Argyle were away at Blackpool that day. Brian R
  12. I'm given to understand that is correct. Due to the RWC matches there is a lack of reasonably priced hotel rooms in the city where exhibitors and demonstrators can be accommodated. The nearest reasonably priced hotel rooms are in Swansea, Gloucester and Aust, too far away to expect them to travel back and fore during the show. I'm told he organisers attempted to set a new date a week or two later, but the venue was unavailable. As a result the 2015 show appears to have been cancelled.
  13. Did the Hunslet drawing office have a Western GA drawing to hand, when they set to on this design ? . http://www.steamtrainsireland.com/images/photonews/110608/42.jpg . Brian R
  14. Commentator - Bob Danvers Walker .............. I'm showing my age now, who remembers which t,v, programme his voice featured on ?
  15. Augusta Hall, wife of Sir Benjamin Hall M.P.(after whom 'Big Ben' was named) would be proud to see the 'traditional' Welsh dress she apparently "thought up" so proudly displayed at Abergynolwyn. . More cracking photos Dave. . Brian R
  16. Dave I love the GFYE pair at High Dyke. . One slight problem, the Brush Type 2s (Cl.31s)only went up to D5862. . Looking at your shot, I think they may be 5673 & 5675 . Keep 'em coming. . Brian R
  17. ................. and I haven't a clue where this was taken either !!!!! . Brian R
  18. Another of my "best man's" thumbnails. . Can't for the life of me work out where it was taken - he says, tongue firmly in cheek. . Brian R
  19. ".......Not if it's more than around a tenner complete!......" "..... If I can get this photo scaled fairly accurately, I'll be having a go at cutting the parts on my new Silhouette Portrait, and looking for something round for the accumulator. The working parts will probably be bits of old OO locos, as it only needs to shunt two or three wagons........." . Your own words . If you are prepared to cut corners, why dismiss out of hand those who try to help you conduct research in an effort to assist you in perhaps creating a better model. . In future I'll stick to rummaging through my library and records for those who appear a little more grateful. . Brian R
  20. This what you need, no other book comes close. . Brian R
  21. Another 'lo-res thumbnail' care of my 'best man' . Presumably it's "Campaigner" at Birmingham New St. . Where we were off to that day, I have no idea. . Brian R
  22. Sadly, only a 'thumbnail' - taken at Bristol, Temple Meads by my 'best man' during his Swindon apprenticeship. . I have no further details. . Brian R
  23. Well I've got two of these, ready to go.... . http://www.51l.co.uk/abwpoa.htm . As well as 4-5 Cambrian POA 'Standard Wagon' kits. . Nigel Burkin describes scratchbuilding one of the ASW Black Adder boxes on a Bachmann tank wagon underframe - allowing for the limitations of the underframe; which I could live with - as the underframe would be fine for the for the ASW (internal use) 'Red Adders' which were rebuilt with the same bodies, but unrefurbished underframes/suspension:- . http://www.bookworldws.co.uk/book-building-modern-scale-wagons-p-4989.html . Now, throw in an HEA or two, recoded HSA. . Blend in one of the two BR prototypes built on HBA underframes. . Voila - enough different scrap wagons to fill a layout. . Brian R
  24. Very nice Wayne. . Made me open the drawer to check on my unmade POA kits................................. Brian
  25. Or, to save you scrolling back up the page to post #5 . "...Get yourself a copy of Model Railway Constructor, February 1987. . Within it's pages there lurks a 'Datafile' article by Paul Bartlett & Trevor Mann. . It contains all you need to know about BR built 'Lowfits'......"
