  1. Glad you said that Phil. I have one waiting to be converted.
  2. Finally finished the 3D printed Escort Kombi van
  3. Finally finished the Ford Escort Kombi from the 3D casting, started many months ago.
  4. A railtour with 2 x 73s ran from Chester to Llandudno Junction once and ran back light, due to the limit of their fuel tanks, so South Wales may have been a trip too far.
  5. Crewe LNWR depot is accessed across the Kidsgrove line.
  6. Back to the subject. Any news on the release date for Peco slips ?
  7. For cosmetic use and the light weight train haulage, the Accurascale ones are very nice replicas.
  8. If buying from Shapeways any of these, get the medium quality prints , not the cheapest. The difference is well worth the extra for the lack of hassle in cleaning up the castings. My photo shows the old Springside Escort 4 van (right), not recommended, and The Escort 4 Kombi from Shapeways (left) a very nice job, as yet unfinished. The windows could be cut out but I have represented with a coat of grey paint, varnished.
  9. It was called the Ford Escort Kombi van based on the estate car shell. Orion was an Escort with a boot.
  10. Plates are still laid. These days by 'Trackmen'
  11. Unfortunately Peter there does not appear to be room for a trap at the toe of those points, because a derailed vehicle has no room to go clear of the passenger line. To do it correctly you would need to remove the point and place it further back or provide a trap to each of the sidings. No extra point rodding needed (except length) as they would still be off the same lever.
  12. Yes I would go for the later Dodge cab too. Plastic grille with the flat roof body. The body is one of the longer 22 seat buses mainly used by the P Way relaying gangs. A few shots from my collection if they help.
  13. Back to the original theme. Many preserved lines may find difficulty getting people with the skills to set up mechanical points and signals. I retired as a lineman 9 years ago and am now 70. There was not much training on mechanical stuff before I finished and by now probably even less. So the preserved lines are probably suffering the same in signalling as in other skills, an ageing workforce.
  14. According to Platform 5, the Scotrail refurbished sets have a former TF with a buffet counter and 3 x TS. My question is , where does the guard travel ?
  15. Thanks Paul, glad somebody else taking an interest in tomorrow's history. Merf.
  16. As promised a few shots of my repaint attempt on the Hornby observation car.
  17. Will try and remember to get a photo tomorrow when at the club.
  18. If it helps Mike, I had a Devon Belle livery obs. car and repainted the brown of the Pullman livery with maroon using a ruling pen, carefully leaving the cream untouched. A satisfactory result. Used it for the Welsh Chieftain train. Merf.
  19. Headcode was for the signalman to know what the train approaching was.
  20. Yes, you would need to have transitions between straight and curve. Set track is no use for preventing buffer lock.
  21. Thank you. Yes I found them and am very pleased with the result.
  22. Good to meet you both today. Good to have a chat and see it in the flesh. Keep up the good work, and looking forward to seeing Rhosgoch. Merf.
